    Asheville is hurting because it has become San Francisco East! The city is going down hill fast. We have had several friends leave Asheville after only being there for one year. They left due to the crime and people camping on the streets, in the Parks, etc. There is a Large Homeless population there as well now. Not very safe to go out especially after dark.

    I have been living in NC my whole life and I want out, house pricing keeps going up and it's getting pretty crowded not only that but it's losing its rural feeling and they are tearing down ALOT of trees and rural areas, and turning them into apartments some areas are nicer than others, and many cities such as Cary are really nice for living but only if you can afford it.

      @@scottaleman2577 I was thinking about Upstate Ny , the people that are moving from NY is mostly from NYC but Upstate is beautiful if you like the rural scene, I wouldnt live in CA even if you pay me and FL is even more expensive than NC, But I have found some really nice homes in upstate NY in a decent price, many people are scared of the snow up there but I love the cold, way better than having hurricanes and tornadoes every year like NC, I am still searching but we are in the worst time to purchase a home , I might as well keep on saving till I find the right place and moment to purchase one.

    The question is does transplanting South from the North and West contribute to lack of opportunities and poverty for descendants and natives of the American South? Does it reduce housing and job opportunities for the natives and descendants of the South ? Possibly Charlotte and Greensboro is turning to the places people have left. Eventually over population causes harm. Citizens are exiting Charlotte in 2024, but not long ago in the early 1990’s Charlotte Mecklenburg was a great place with small class room sizes, affordable homes with land, and less crime. Crime in Charlotte is historic. So now people are moving to South Carolina. 🤔 We are making a mistake of confusing moving with progress.

    When wealthy young professionals arrive and inflate housing prices and cost of living, the working, and middle classes leave. The average family income in America is about $70,000. There is a huge gap between the rich, the middle classes, and the poor. Homelessness and crime increases when real estate becomes unaffordable for most. Thanks for the helpful information on Ashville and other cities.

Blah blah..there not happy...complaining about everything..drive crazy, horn blowing drive like bat outa hell.

    I was in NC last year scouting for new city to call home. We spent whole day in greensboro and Burlington. greensboro is a great location. little over an hour away from Raleigh and little over an hour away from Charlotte. It has many nice places but too many shady people roaming around. Greensboro has better home prices than the triangle area and I agree with you it will appreciate more. Also visited Charlotte and we spent a week there. Great city, beautiful downtown but we found it little noisy for our taste , the car mufflers and road speed bumps everywhere. Tringle area is the best, my opinion. Also we have been in Greensville, SC. Great city a must see.

      Thanks for that perspective!! I’m partial to the triangle as well. But Greensboro and Charlotte and Winston Salem all have their own beauty!

    Lived in Charlotte area a few years ago, went back north, not out side Raleigh. My home in Jersey was great, property taxes, $25,000. My home outside Raleigh, just as nice, smaller, way more land. Taxes $5,000. Each area has good and bad. I’ll stay in NC. I’ve lived in NY, NJ, PA, WV, NC….WV and NC are my preferred. Although the Pittsburgh area was pretty decent.

    The biggest concern I have with Greensboro is that while it does have those amenities, a good chunk of the city has been left behind, except for Downtown and the Northwest quadrant of the city (basically from downtown up towards Summerfield). Downtown has been propped up by the public sector. NW Greensboro has gotten most of the private sector attention (the high-end retail, housing, etc.). The problem is that large chunks of Northeast, Southeast, and Southwest Greensboro have declined over the years, in everything from quality shopping (i.e. quality retail and grocers turning into places like check cashing and pawn shops) to seeing more violence, poverty, and overall despair. Those areas need quite a bit more attention, not just roughly 30% of the city.
    But anyhow, I enjoy your videos. They are interesting and you obviously do your homework and put a lot of thought into them so you're not wrong. I am just putting that perspective out there.

    • @EllenPitts
      @EllenPitts  Год назад +2

      Yeah I know what you mean!! I think this has been the same case in Raleigh as well but it’s really gotten better over the years. It just takes time and money. And people investing in the area need to feel like there will be a return on the investment. I know that in Greensboro there is a mega site on the southeast side where the new Toyota battery plant is going. Bringing in businesses with higher salaries really helps jumpstart growth.

    Asheville is my home town. After college, I moved to Florida to work in the defense industry, and couldn't wait to get back to the mountains. I moved back, but over the years the southern charm of this once great small town is pretty well gone. Home prices are high, homelessness, traffic, and trash are excessive. City and county government has been taken over by the woke crowd, police have been defunded, and crime is rampant. If you visit, do not take your family downtown after dark. We now go into the city only when absolutely necessary (jury duty, concealed carry permit, etc.).

      It’s so hard to find affordable housing right now. I would definitely check out some of the cheaper cities like Greensboro and Winston Salem. Great quality of life but they don’t have the tech and banking influence of the larger cities so it’s less expensive.
