Hi Auntie! First of all, I absolutely adore your Channel! Your skill level is out of this world! I've learned so many new skills, tips, and techniques through your videos because they are so clear and precise. Just a few questions for you... is marshmallow fondant the only fondant that you use? What type of frosting do you prefer, ABC, SMBC? I see you're inverting the cake dummy in order to make sharp corners. Will this technique also work for an actual cake? How long have you been a cake artist? Thank you so much for your time, and thank you for your invaluable contributions to the baking world!
Hi Danietta, Thank you for adoring my art! Believe it or not, I'm still working on the "skill" Lol! I mostly use marshmallow fondant... with Black or Red, I mix 1/2 store bought pre-colored fondant and 1/2 colored marshmallow fondant. I suppose I would use store bought all the time, but I'm watching my pennies and dimes. Honestly, the icing I use for brides, and the icing I prefer are much different. I prefer to coat the cake in a white chocolate ganache. The outside decoration on almost all my fancy cakes is royal icing. You can see my favorite recipe here: ruclips.net/video/M7osUvgi6YU/видео.html . When I use buttercream, it is ABC. I've tried SMBC and failed...miserably on this cake: ruclips.net/video/ItxETlueuUw/видео.html. Yes, the upside down technique works for both foam and real cake, as long as the cake is good and chilled, otherwise...Disaster!!! You're very welcome. For a small donation, I will answer your questions in a video! Just me answering you. It is completely voluntary. www.scaleabout.com/Auntie_s_Cakery Thanks again Danietta!
Hey Auntie, im from Srilanka. I have some questions to ask , 1. What did you apply on dummy before apply the fondant ( water ot gelatin mix water)?? 2. What did you apply on dummy before transfering other dummy to fix?? ( royal icing)
Hi Hansanie! Srilanka is quite a distance from me. I believe I applied a layer of piping gel under the fondant: amzn.to/2ElX7pQ And I'm sure it was royal icing I used to secure the cakes to each other (Either that or fondant paste). Hope that helps!
Hi, thank you for sharing. I haves few questions. How did you prep your styrofoam drums before applying the fondant? What are you spreading on the lace silicone mold? How long do you let them dry for before sticking and decorating them? Thank you
I use a mixture of Corn syrup and water to spread on the foam, OR piping Gel (Corn syrup is less expensive). This is the lace recipe I use: www.bakingsavvy.com/2016/12/09/3-ingredient-sugar-lace/ The lace needs to dry at least a couple hours, until it's not sticky any more.
