    The lead pack will either break material or break free now... thank you for your update

      Glad you enjoyed the update! It will be interesting to see what conditions in the Indian and Pacific Oceans do to the fleet.

    Thanks for the update. More wind should make it exciting. Can’t help but think some of them looking for some calm air for s little down time.

    Thanks for the Update. Soo thrilling to follow along... Not the best day for Boris Hermann &Co, but really interesting to see how the macif and the boats surrounding it will perform today.

      The pace of the top four in the South Atlantic has been extraordinary. It must be so tough for Boris and the chasing pack to watch them separate away, not being able to do a thing about it

      @@Sail-World Yes, do you think they have chance to still catch up somehow? Forecast makes it hard to believe.

      Anything can happen! We're only a quarter of the way through the race. The leaders could easily hit light airs at some point, or have issues to deal with.

    Thanks heaps for the updates. Question on Sam's traveller it wasn't being used but the sheet was! Why do they sail the boat like this? As when I have sailed we use the sheet for twist and the traveller for moving the boom centre or to leeward. Does it have something to do with the self steering gear as I have never sailed with self steering gear.. Thanks again for all the work being done to bring updates to everyone all round the World.. All best from down under here in Australia.

    When they cross the freeze line are they docked penalty points?

    • @Sail-World
      @Sail-World  3 дня назад

      This is in the Sailing Instructions at www.vendeeglobe.org/sites/default/files/2024-11/Sailing%20Instructions%20Vend%C3%A9e%20Globe%202024-25Amendment5_0.pdf
      Section 6 is Prohibited Zones, and the Antarctic Exclusion Zone is known as the AEZ (page 3)
      Annexe 6 outlines the penalties in a table (page 24) where an 'AEZ Entrance not repaired' penalty ranges from 2 to 24 hours. I think the Jury has discretion to alter the penalty to less, or up to DSQ, depending on the circumstances.
