I question why models, are being depicted with flickering fireboxes, as a fireman the only time the doors were open either to fire (shovel coal into the box) or for a very short time to let air in (to reduce BLACK SMOKE).
It’s a fair point. I think it’s because it’s a very cheap feature to add but is seen as a somewhat premium one. If anything it helps my fiancée get on board with the hobby alongside sound rather than it just running around.
Excellent model. They wouldn’t look out of place on a rake of compartment coaches either. Well into BR days, the 812 class could be seen on local trains in the Glasgow area. Not to mention hauling specials in the 1960s, for the SLS for example.
I bought the LMS and BR versions. The BR version, although not quite the correct wheel alignment, will be resprayed as a Belgian type 30 ROD for pulling my railway gun. It will stay black. I bought two Improved Precedents too. Very nice models.
At these prices, Bachmann could afford to donate a percentage of the profits to the upkeep of the preserved loco. I hope the loco's guardians made something from the research that went into the model.
I believe that is the case, the as preserved model includes information on how to help keep her running (all these models portray the exact same locomotive at different times in it's career). I hope they are at least getting some of the proceeds from the models, that would at least help justify the cost
Lovely models, I bought 2 BR black versions to renumber, and the preserved one of course. Only criticism would be the lack of etched number plates which are usually included with Bachmann locos for the preserved one.
I don’t agree David. I have two, so I can say with some authority, that they are very well made and run well. “Overpriced” is your subject opinion that is not based on fact. Expensive perhaps. If they were overpriced, they wouldn’t sell. The CR version is sold out already, so the market seems to disagree with you.

Really needs to have a crew fitted...the cab is so open.
Nice sound and a good looking model. I'm sure the Caladonian ones are already sold out by now.

such an exceptional model. truly is a joy to run

love the blue one 👍
Lovely livery especially the Blue .
Did anyone else notice, the whistle and driver sounds are cut copy paste from the 812 from Railworks?
Caledonia Works provided some of the sounds for the model.
@@GwionRhysDavies oh thats cool. Wasnt aware of that. nice
Are these the same as Donald and Douglas from the Thomas stories?
They are the basis for Donald and Douglas so yes. Its literally them.
@@redboxgamingyt3452 check "literally" in the dictionary!

Check the thread on RMweb - someone is doing these for £5
I bought two :D
Awsum 🚂❤️😎👍
I’m very disappointed . Clearly the guy shouting right away should have a Scottish accent !
1k.
Overpriced hobby....other manufacturers are better and cheaper
Such as ??
I would say that it's an expensive hobby. Overpriced? I don't think so when you take into account the R&D costs for a relatively low production run.

Way over priced for a 0-6-0 loco.
