Great vid. I just got one GL2T. What is the knurled knob exactly for under the tuners? I turned it a little because I thought it did something else. But not much tho.
That’s to set the exact zero point. When you are tuned to E in the middle locked position, you should be able to unlock the pin and the guitar not go sharp or flat. If it does, turn the master tuning knob until it’s perfectly in E locked or unlocked
Cool. So if I turned it a little, what’s the best way to get it back to where it “should” be or is it not that big of a deal. This is all brand new to me. @@OhYouAteOne2
Nope - B, C, D, E, F#, G From lowest to highest. You could very likely tune the whole guitar down a half step and then calibrate from there and all those should transpose to half step lower in all positions
Why did they stop making these? I would think if their was a Buck to be made Gibson would make them available but I’m only finding old Steinberger bits for thousands of dollars
@@OhYouAteOne2 I thought Ed hade a Music Man or a Wolfgang that was custom with a Transtrem. I thought you bought one. I do like the Allan Holdsworth Steiny.
I think that one reason why people think tuning a Trans-Trem is fiddly is that they are forgetting it allows for only needing to tune one guitar for a gig, instead of 6 in order to get the same range of tunings.
Each one of those notches in the tremarm saddle should be an open tuning. The way you are setting it up is wrong. Your setup is not producing the open tunings.
Super sweet setup. I didn’t even know they were out there. I’m always learning new info.
Then that made the video worth it!
Yea Ryan, super cool set up. My first time seeing one.
EVH used one on Summer Nights and Get Up on the 5150 album.
Thought about getting one of these but I wouldn't really use it much. Good info on how it works. Thanks.
If your gonna learn all of Van Halen songs... you must have one.. LOL
@@OhYouAteOne2 I don't play Van Halen out if respect, the way I play would just desecrate their music. LOL🤣🤣🤣
@@rockdaddy2168 I can respect that.. 🤣🤣
Thanks!!!Very Helpful….have posted a clip with my Steinberger on my channel…..after your set up procedure…
Nice!

Ahhh ok. I thought that it would have screwed up my string height. @@OhYouAteOne2
Cool Man, doesn't seem any more fiddly than a Floyd. Thanks for the lesson Ryan.
Thanks for watching
Great tutorial, very useful thank you.
Glad it helped!
Cool Ryan!!
very informative, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
They need to make these again.
I agree!
@@OhYouAteOne2 especially since the trems by themselves are going for 1-3k
@@TestarossaRocks I'm certainly blessed to have 2 TransTrem equipped guitars in my arsenal! Love 'em!
This is a year late, but they are indeed making these again.
@@merickbrother2122 where do I buy?
If you need to tune your transtrem equipped guitar to Eb (1/2 step down), does all of this still apply?
@@davearooney it should
very interesting
Thanks for checking it out Janice
Can it tune a 1/2 step down?

@@gitarman666 I think there were not a lot of people who understood how they worked and they just weren’t as popular as they should have been..
I can't find these things anywhere
They are rare and hard to find
I always wanted one but they’re too pricy. I picked up a Virtual Jeff Pro a couple years ago as an alternative and it’s fantastic.
Cool! I’ve heard those before but have never tried one.. 🤘🏻😎👍🏻
Is that a Music Man?
@@HolidayWayLLC no, custom made guitar in the likeness of a musicman

@ there were several custom ones he had, most know about the Wolfgang’s

so you're telling me this trem is trans???
According to Steinberger, yes.. :)
Each one of those notches in the tremarm saddle should be an open tuning. The way you are setting it up is wrong. Your setup is not producing the open tunings.
Sorry but you are mistaken. The TransTrem design is to allow each string to move in proper pitch.
