I'm pretty sure part of the adoption contract includes returning the dog to them if they need to get rid of it so she could be pursuing it legally. I'm not sure about this place but a lot of shelters do that so I hope so

Thank goodness a Good Samaritan found them and called the shelter to come get them and also that Nina’s chip haven’t been changed and still have VRC’s rescue info.
That's so like Tennessee as well as Texas. They don't think animals have any feelings. I lived in Tennessee and I saved so many dogs who were dropped off on the road I lived on.
The owner didn’t even bother to change the microchip details to their own. Goes to show how much they actually felt invested and responsible for the animal. I wonder how many people adopt a dog from here just so they can have the clout of having adopted from “that rescue on tv”.

@M Ad um no. I've gotten 3 dogs from breeders who microchipped before I picked them up. All three still have the breeders info on the microchip. I've adopted 2 dogs from breed specific rescues, both dogs still have the shelters info on them as well as my info. That's what happens when you sign a contract stating if you ever can't keep a dog, they have to get returned. Shelters and breeders do this so if you dump or lose your dog, they are notified as well.
All shelters would love to stop euthanasia. The problem is, every shelter has limited space and resources, and the public shelters have to take in EVERY dog and cat brought to them. They run out space, and what do they do then, when there's no space, they've exhausted every foster and private rescue group in the area? What do they do? They don't have a choice but to euthanize. The only way (non-health related) euthanasia is stopped is by people not overbreeding animals and abandoning their pets. Until people do that, there's always going to have to be 'kill shelters'.

I watched an episode with a dog called prada everyone was so focused on the pitbull what about the German shepherd I didn't hear anything about that dog it's so sad how people judge these poor baby there absolutely amazing beautiful dogs I love your show and you your amazing
It might be good for VRC to start making yearly/every two or three years visits to adopters to update how things are going with them and the dog. That way the staff and Tia can hopefully spot suspicious behavior by the adopters and get the dog back before it is dumped.
A lot of people became homeless during COVID-19 Shutdowns and had to live in their cars or shelters here in California. They probably sold the dogs and that's how they ended up in Texas. It's a lot of people stealing dogs and selling them out of the state too 🤬
Yes microchip does work. For the people that live in Texas please adopt there's lots of dogs being put down do to kill shelters. I am very very surprised this shelter is not full.

The dogs would have been SAFE and VERY WELL cared for there, and they would have immediately been alerted to the one dog's microchip for Tia. At least now, they are SAFE and still together. Poor ladies. If I were Tia, I would ABSOLUTELY be going back in my files to contact the dog's previous owner and I would be DEMANDING to know WHY she was just left on the side of the road, in a cage, like trash. The southern states are being overrun with abandoned dogs I watch 6 shows on RUclips from Texas to Arkansas and just yesterday 3 more found abandoned making 16 total in 2 months rescued

Honestly, I'm glad they left the dog there. It's clearly a great shelter, with space to spare, and a great adoption rate so the dog will find a good home. That means they have more room to save Pitbulls from overcrowded, underfunded shelters where they'll be put down.

Highly unlikely that they even retaliated against a child who was bothering them, let alone "tried to eat a baby". Because if a child got hurt they could have called animal control to have the dogs humanely euthanized. Why you would abandon a dog who attacked your child when you're well within your legal right to have them taken by the state to be euthanized is beyond me. Most likely someone just got bored of them because pitbulls tend to attract shitty owners. I agree people should stop breeding these common shelter dogs in general though, especially pitbulls when so many struggle to get adopted.
