Thanks for letting me invade your garage and your evening, and take you away from productivity for a while! Very cool project looking forward to keeping up on it!
Here is a little advice from a road race enthusiast. With the paint work you are doing don't attempt door to door track racing. Do track day events. Unless you are in the advance group there will be no passing in turns. All passing will be on designated straights where the driver being passed gives the passing driver a point by. This shows you know he or she is behind you, is faster than you, and you are telling 17:19 them which side you want them to pass you on. Plus you don't need any special safety gear other than working seatbelts and a helmet.
This young lady needs to reach out to Robby Layton. He built a purplish red Pacer burn out car. I'm sure he would help her with paint colors and paint codes.
Soooo, I know a guy. Who has book shelves full of American Motors Service Literature and self made experimental trial and error stuff. Probably has some stuff you need or have never known existed lol
I'll do anything and everything I can, that's just how I roll. And how a lot of the folks here on this channel roll hopefully. Excited to see what's ahead for her for sure
Looks like a great scan-and-3D print project on that front splitter. Perhaps the perfect "gateway" project for a youngster curious about the car hobby. Scanning software typically has a "mirror image" function. Scan what you have and create the other half.
They... can be a bit tricky. But fortunately there are a lot of parts from other companies on these things... and they are really removing a WHOLE lot of stock stuff to be replaced with sweet new aftermarket goodies :)
She's a weeeee bit of a drive from them :) There's a paint and body appointment I think for late Jan to get the colors put down on this thing, looking forward to seeing what it looks like!
They have been doing a pretty extensive comparing and contrasting between all sorts of different colors under all kinds of light. The scheme of the car continues to change, just glad to see such thought and interest in doing this and doing it right!
INTRODUCE HER TO CAM....SHOULD BE THE SAME AGE OR SO....SHE LIVES IN THE SAME STATE AS TOM BAILEY ALSO...REALLY SHOULD MAKE HIS AQUAINTANCE...TOM WOULD BE HAPPY TO HELP HER...GOOD ONE AUSTIN...ANOTHER RARE FIND LIKE CAM WAS....
I meet young people (kids) who are into cars, or want to be, all the time. I help them when I can, and over the years I have gotten several people going quite fast with Pontiacs. Let them sit in your car at shows if they are interested in it, gotta feed that tiny little spark and usually the kid sitting in your hotrod/muscle car is all they need to get the obsession/passion. You dont have to be rich to have a lift in your shop, it just has to be a priority for you. I am old and decrepit, crawling under cars is not something I can do much anymore, so a lift is mandatory for me.
You are 100% correct on the feed the spark thinking, a LOT of folks have the interest in passion they may just be needing a bit of direction and encouragement. NOTHING gets a gear head motivated like going for a ride or race in something old cool and classic. Kudos to you for helping to fan some flames. Would love to have a lift at home myself some day, unfortunately that will require a new house/garage setup :(
@@AutomotiveAdventuresWithAustin can you do me a favor and see if you can set it so my comment replies aren't hidden or removed? They've been doing it to me for about 3 years now.
Hey everyone! So happy that Austin got a chance to swing by and see the project to share it with all of you. 😁
