  • In this one, we're talking about the Flying Blue program, the airline loyalty program from Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
Recently, they lowered most of their saver award prices for transatlantic routes. There are several sweet spots for booking all types of fares (economy, premium economy, business class).
There is generally good award availability and potential for incredible value when transferring from your American Express, Chase, Capital One, Citibank, or BILT credit card points.
You can open a free Flying Blue account at either Air France's or KLM's website; the award availability should be identical between the two:
    Air France: wwws.airfrance...
    KLM: www.klm.com/

Great information, thanks for sharing. We flew KLM SFO to Amsterdam round trip. Great experience even better if you can get a good deal. Using partner airlines is a little risky for me.

That's awesome yeah I flew KLM once too & enjoyed the experience. Agreed that redeeming through partners is riskier given lesser availability & potential complications with cancellations & such. Thanks for watching!

SAS is joining SkyTeam 1st of September. Please give us your point of view.

Hopefully there will be good availability for SAS flights through SkyTeam partners. If so, this may be a positive change, as programs like Flying Blue and Virgin Atlantic frequently offer transfer bonuses, making redemptions for SAS flights potentially very well priced.

    What?
It’s 151,500 miles for a business class ticket from YYC to AMS.

Oh interesting, I believe the 50,000 miles for business class saver fare only applies to US -> Europe flights. Seems like it's different for Canada. If so, you could consider repositioning in the US and then flying to Europe for 50,000 miles.

do you still earn XP on flights booked with miles with KLM?

    • @MontyTheCardNerd

Unfortunately not, you earn XP with paid flights or through spending on the Air France-KLM World Elite Mastercard.
