If the Nuggets didn't have Joker they would by far be the worst team in the league. Joker has a historic On/Off percent, and a historic Box Plus Minus number. He's by far the best player in the league.
I mean, a lot of teams can say if they didn't have their top player, they'd be the worst team. Not arguing if Jokic is great or not. Team success matters when deciding MVP and it always has.
@@OnBallPodcast so, what's the cutoff, if the nuggets end up in the 4th seed would he be your MVP? does by how many games count? if he's one game off second but that one game is the 5th seed? what if the celtics win 68 games, would that mean tatum is the MVP? like what's the min status? like if SGA wins the conference by 5 games, but is behind jokic in every meaningful stat category? what about conference, what if giannis is the 3 seed in the east, his numbers are way better than SGAs? essentially, how much does team success weigh in on the MVP discussion?
@@actorajrivera1266 historically, team success has been a very big deal. Just look at the last 25-30 years. I did say their outliers, but SGA is the engine on the best team in the west and one of the best teams in the NBA. Jokic gets grace for being in a tougher conference. Giannis would have to prove more just because the east is super top heavy. Your numbers only become meaningful when you're leading your team to be one of the best.
@@OnBallPodcast let’s throw this scenario then; averages stay the same and games played stay the same. OKC wins 60 games and are 1 in the west, Denver finishes with 52 wins and are the third seed in the west. Who’s your MVP then?
So what's your NBA stats if it doesn't matter... the artistic experience? He can have 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and be the best because he is the first and he has three expensive stars in the team and that raises him?
@@tomicrade stop it. 15 points, 6 rebs, 7ast would not suggest that someone is the engine on their team. You have to be the best player on your team. Jokic is the clear cut best player on the Nuggets obviously but where they stand in the standings is not good enough for MVP when you have SGA leading his team to be the best in the west and one of the best teams historically
