    Very helpful video Troy, I think this system will make sense for me several years down the road.

    You don’t need to replace that piping on the spinner with PVC just put an elbow on that so it cuts tight to the unit and you’ll be ready to go. Thanks for sharing the system.

    Best review online of the Cowen 28 line! Thank you. How do you think that spinner / auger might work with a Maxant chain uncapper? I'd like to upgrade to this line, but incrementally over time. E.g. I'd like to keep using my Maxant uncapper and extractors for a few more years, but finding a better way to handle wet cappings. Curious if the Cowen mini spinner would work with the cappings produced by the chain uncapper.

      The cowen mini Spinner and auger will keep up with the maxant chain uncapper. I ran the maxant uncapper and the Sr. Spinner prior to the system I have now. Huge improvement in dealing with cappings. No more stopping a few hours in to empty the Spinner.

    Im glad you mentioned scratching combs was that a thing with your old chain uncapper .is "chain uncapper "same as" flail uncapper"?

    Are you running the spinner when you are scraping the wax? Or is it off? We just got a Cowan 28 frame and want to ensure we are doing this correctly. Don’t want to lose any fingers 😆 Thank you for sharing your video!

    cool set up. I went to the site - its about 26k. Did it ship with pumps for the spinner and a pump for honey barrels? Really like this and will buy this summer. Looking at 3-4 hundred hives in Asheville NC next year. Are you selling barrels as well? I was thinking mostly retail. I want to buy the canner as well for speed.

    • @hallapiariesnh
      @hallapiariesnh  Год назад

      For 26k you will be purchasing just the extractor, no pumps or auger. If you want the whole extracting line I believe Cowen is asking 45k

    That’s a nice setup. Are you still happy with the line? Would you go with the 60 frame now that you have used the 28 or is it enough for the ~ 400 colonies? Thank you for the great video and all of the demonstration. Stay well!

    Hey Troy, aren’t you on all wax foundation? Do you find that extractor blows the comb out at all? Cheers

    • @hallapiariesnh
      @hallapiariesnh  Год назад +1

      No, I do no get a lot of combs that blow out in the extractor. Only some of the newly drawn out foundations tend to blow out from time to time. I cross wire all the foundations, that helps tremendously by adding extra support.

    I see you use barrel liners. Can you use a band heater with these?

      Not sure. I use a Bee blanket. Temp doesn't exceed 110 degrees F

    What mill of liner do you use?

    • @hallapiariesnh
      @hallapiariesnh  Год назад

      I prefer the thinner liners ( I believe they are 8 - 10 mil. During the pandemic it was hard to find the thin liners so I had to settle for a few cases of the thicker ones.
