It's funny to see the reactions of the hitters! Some of them are like "ain't no way you just did that" and some are like "I can't even be mad, that was impressive"
It's probably easier have the "I can't be mad" reaction when you're down 9-1 like at 8:40. What I'd like to see is the pitcher's reaction throughout the whole thing. We usually get the "ah shoot, so much for that" look, but never how it changes after the catch is made.
Exactly. Still the best, IMHO. I'm very surprised that they had Pillar's Blue Jays catch shown after... since GM Jr's had a higher degree of difficulty.
It would be the best catch jumping off the wall. Mike Trout did not need the wall. As a matter of fact, the wall made it difficult for Trout to keep the ball in the glove.
Glad they had Griffey in there, but Jay Buhner's catch at Fenway needed to be in those clips too. He actually did go over the wall in right field to make the catch.
The first Pillar catch is a lot more insane than you think. His body was not in a good position to catch it, as the ball was heading straight for him at the waist, he had to adjust his glove, and still had to catch the ball with his glove "overhand." It's a really uncomfortable way to catch it and often leads to a drop, but he had enough power to squeeze it at the end of the glvoe as well
I miss not being able to watch baseball. Got rid of cable in 2012 when I could no longer afford it. Don't get regular TV where I live either. This was great to watch. Thank you. ❤
Trout has been in his shadow since 2021 when Ohtani became a "true two-way player", but I believe that a "healthy Trout" is the only baseball player who can compete with Ohtani.
Some guys just aren’t winners and Trout may be the best example in all of sports ever. It used to be Dan Marino. Now it’s Trout. Dudes a loser. Some guys don’t know how to get it done and just accumulate stats. Losers lose. Some of it’s luck but some guys just don’t know how to win
MLB left the DeWayne Wise catch off? I know it's the wrong sport, but... C'MON MAN! To quote the announcer of said catch... "YOU GOTTA BE BLEEPING ME!"

How is Gary Matthew's Jr's catch not number 1 when you consider both the difficulty of the play and the fact the real robbery was AFTER the play when he stole $50 million from the Angels for 0.0 net bWAR in 3 years?
The amazing thing about Aaron Judge’s robbing Ohtani’s hr is that Judge blasted a mammoth hr in the bottom half of the same inning. Big guy was just showing him how it’s done
I was at the game where Mookie made that catch. An amazing way to top off a great shutout win! Papi had 3 RBIs, pitching only gave up 2 hits, the catch, it was all just incredible

Yes, August 1, 2017 Austin Jackson leaps against the center-field wall and flips upside down, landing in the Red Sox bullpen and robbing Hanley Ramirez's homer IS MISSING from this video.

Endy Chavez, Game 7, 2006 NLCS. How that's not here is criminal. Also criminal are Molina and Wainwright for killing my hopes and dreams but that's another video...
You can’t do a video of Best catches in Baseball without showing Griffey Jr and Trout’s amazing catches!! But there were so many more! Hunter taking the HR away from Bonds was Awesome!!! Bonds reaction was just as good!!! Man, Ya Gotta Love The Game Of Baseball ⚾️
9:34 Trout has been in his shadow since 2021 when Ohtani became a "true two-way player", but I believe that a "healthy Trout" is the only baseball player who can compete with Ohtani.
Mike Tauchman had the most interesting Giants career. In just 64 games, Tauchman had two incredible game-saving catches, and slammed two dynamic game-winning home runs (One with an 0-2 count, if I recall). But unfortunately he didn't do much else at the plate in the orange and black, to the tune of a 56 OPS+ (.178/.286/.283)
Endy Chavez in the 2006 NLCS should’ve been included on this list. Still a great video, but Chavez not only robbed a potential Scott Rolen home run but he did it full speed, slammed against the wall, then threw it into the infield to the second baseman who threw it to first for an inning-ending double play.
Mookie's grab against Davis: The quip about Mookie staying in the ballpark "this time" is a reference to the Jose Abreu homer when Mookie dropped the ball as he flipped into the bullpen Kevin Kiermaier's grab in Baltimore: Pretty much the same spot where Trout robbed Hardy; even had the same sponsor on the outfield wall where the catch was made Gary Matthews Jr: Lamb looking for the single, instead he's got... *_ROBBERY!!!_* 2002 All-Star Game: If Torii hadn't made that grab, the 11-inning tie due to lack of remaining players wouldn't have happened
Torii Hunter was probably the first baseball player that I knew the name of when I was a kid (him or Joe Mauer), and I was a massive fan. Broke my heart when he went to the Angels- I didn't know that players could be traded or sign with other teams, so it was a bit of a rude awakening.
Kiermaier's catch is BY FAR more impressive than 95% of these. That ball was absolutely smoked; no time to setup under it and perfect the timing. Just run full speed and jump. Similar to Brandon Nimmo's robbery of Justine Turner in 2022. Weird that Nimmo or Endy Chavez's catches aren't on here, while some rather pedestrian catches are... Tired of seeing the Betts one where he doesn't even need to jump, cuz the fence is 4 feet tall. But in typical Betts fashion, h has to be flamboyant and hang over the wall.
You know it’s gonna be a good video when the title says the clips get increasingly more insane when the second clip is of a stolen home run with outs at the bottom of the 9th.
He's a Met. You'll also notice Endy's catch is somehow not on this list. Imagine having an NBA best playoff game-winners and having no Jordan shots. They can't have just forgotten. Chavez is a Met, Nimmo is a Met, so you won't see @MLB mention them ever.
1a. GMj 1b. Edmonds 2. Pillar (second one...tho the first is way up there given last second adjustment). 3. Trout and Keirmeier. Very much the same. Extreme high pointing after long run and max full extension.
The best of these was easily Gary Matthews Jr. The greatest catch (and home run robbery) I ever saw was by a lesser known player named Larry Harlow of the Orioles decades ago. Gary Matthew Jr. will always be tops @ 7:49. Sun bearing down, back to the ball, twisting grab, 180. Difficulty level is off the charts
Exactly. Still the best, IMHO. I'm very surprised that they had Pillar's Blue Jays catch shown after... since GM Jr's had a higher degree of difficulty.
Totally agree. He had his back completely facing the plate, and he had to take his eye off the ball at the end, effectively making a blind catch.
It was so good it actually made the next 3 look kind of average
It would be the best catch jumping off the wall. Mike Trout did not need the wall. As a matter of fact, the wall made it difficult for Trout to keep the ball in the glove.
