I main shaco mid and was in contact with this guy for a while. my playstyle was completely different and talking to him changed my whole outlook on the pick. love to see him shown here
As a shaco main myself, i can for sure say doing the reverse psychology trick with his r, so you're at the enemies face while they attack your clone thats further away, is one of the best and funniest tricks with the champ
nah its way to unique, id rather say his R since it explodes after the rework which doesnt give alot of counterplay when cutting off the escape path like in the vid
Using the range to snap the clone back to you is a trick I learned from Pink Ward, but combining that with your Q to make it look like you disappeared and reappeared while actually bringing the clone into the fight is definitely some next-level thinking. If you ever don't have time to pull it off, and your clone isn't out yet, you can sometimes pull off a fake by pressing Q, then pressing R a second later and running away while still stealthed.
I played it for years and it's high risk medium reward because AP shaco is wayyy too team reliant, without team coordination around his boxes in teamfight + the risk of enemy swiping the zone before/during the battle he becomes an E execute bot, lacking *a lot* in term of damage.
he's not team reliant he's just a scaling champion who's borderline useless when behind in the first place assuming your team does what you want is pure folly that's probably 80% why you failed

Shaclone and pink ward have been using the clone teleport trick since S2 or 3 in high diamond. I remember first learning it in one of the original videos i watched on the champion from Shaclone

One of my favorite thing about playing shaco against people that have never played against shaco is that they won't get baited by clone running away and will just attack what's closest. Happened at least 3 times to me (Edit: typo)
one of my absolutely atrocious builds is hullbreaker shaco top with lethal tempo. shaco's clone takes his current stats, whether it be attack speed (lethal) or resistances (hull). the clone can then activate a second hullbreaker, gaining double resistances from the item, as long as it is out of ally range. combine this with sunfire, titanic, botrk, nashors/wits and black cleaver, and now your clone is basically a full tank with aoe hybrid damage. getting to this point of the build is remarkably hard though, hence the "atrocious" comment regarding it, but the payout is worth it. a couple things to note : Shaco's clone does not have lethal tempo itself, meaning its attack speed is capped at 2.50. shacos clone applies nashors/wits/titanic/sunfire/botrk onhits, but guinsoos/pd do not work on it somehow. it somehow works with botrks ms stealing ability, cosmic drives passive ms, and can even stack deadmans, which makes me all the more confused if you want to try it out in practice tool, shacos clone does not deal any damage to target dummies, the boxes after it explodes do, but not the clone itself. the clone works fine on minions and bots.
The thing is shaco's clone will have hail of blades forever until it dies when you proc it and R after, This does not work with other buffs. It would still be better to get hail of blades because of this fact. You're losing too much damage not having it

you can find out which is the clone by checking shaco's items, mythic has a yellow border while clone doesnt so as soon as you get used to looking at this you can easily detect which is clone and which is not
They fixed that a long time ago, as a shaco main i don't even buy my mythic until last item if I'm going ad, yes it's a weird thing, but it works and nets me 22 kills a game when I don't fk up my early game
Really? That's the most basic trick. And that clone management is really bad. The clone just appear standing still, not even looking at Fizz. It's really obvious that's the clone.
Stealth into Ultimate is actually pretty well known. The best trick is staying level 5, getting level 6 while unseen by the enemy. Because the enemy hasn't seen Shaco since level 5, Shaco's clone will also show as level 5. Essentially people don't believe you have your ultimate yet, therefore can't be a clone when it is.
i've played with someone who tried this yesterday evening, i was jungler he was my mid, it was so fun to play with him, he was really good (which is suprising coz im somewhere in silver or bronze). Its so unfair against enemies to play like that, i would scout enemy jungle for their jungler and when i found him shaco would run to river and put couple boxes there, i would then lead enemy jungler in them and got free kill.

This is Master/Grandmaster elo, People are a bit busy thinking about wave state, csing, trading, tracking jungler, next objective etc - playing vs an off meta matchup completly overwhelms them.

Its a coinflip pick in aram. If the enemy team has even a single diver you will be useful the whole game. If they are 5 range champs(and your team needs to run at them to win) you are useless unfortunately. That being said I always have fun when he comes up in the mode
8:25 Well, I encountered a Shaco doing similar things and I learned there’s a nice way to deal with Shaco and his clone. Just hit them both. Someone with bursty AoE damage doesnt need to pick the right one, they just have to hit both. And that’s how I learned to deal with Shaco as Neeko. Box? Neeko’s W clears that out. Clone? Hit them both. Invisibility? Predict where he’s going and E Q him. Sure, he’s Shaco and he’s tricky, predicting him is hard. But a Neeko who’s done a lot of running away should be pretty sneaky minded themselves, so you can get some solid guesses as to where they wanna go.

When playing as volibear or any champ that marks another champion is very easy to decide which is the clone and which isn't, because of the mark.

The trick never works against a garen though, I get out-stupided by him where he attacks me instead and i lose

The cooldown of it is long + if you places boxes in wave they cannot be cleared before going off
