- I am going to backfill the west side of the pole barn where are dog kennel run will be. We are getting 5 dump truck loads to fill in this area. I will be moving all this dirt with the TYM T654 tractor. Once the area is graded the way I like it, we will install a few fence posts and plant grass.

We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acres homestead. We just finished building our log cabin overlooking our pond. We are trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey living the rural life and developing our property and becoming more self sufficient.
Evan, you need to do what is best for you and not worry about what others might say. It is yours and Rebecca's farm, so do what is best for you two and don't worry about the negative comments, the farm is looking better every day.
You guys always do an expert job with a lot of class. Loved the video.
Great job, keep that seed wet, and it should be fine.👍👍💚
Another Job Well Done. Sometimes it's just easier & cost effective to buy raw material.
Awesome job
God Bless you all this Thanksgiving.
Looks good. Dogs will have fun
Evan, I have to say that you are doing an excellent job utilizing the tools on hand, to get your projects done! Your tractor work is improving every day, and it shows! Awesome job!
Rebekah, I heard you giving Evan instructions while he was on the tractor using the auger. You have a pretty good plumb eye Rebekah!!!
Looks good
Looks great!
Great job with the pole barn. Might want to consider pipes off your downspouts to help prevent washing. Have a Happy Thanksgiving
Happy thanksgiving to you and your family
Nice grading work! Your farm is looking great!
happy thanksgiving rebecca and evan may god bless you and your families, and your homestead.
Seems the dogs already approve of the area. They were certainly enjoying playing while you worked.
Looking good. Thanks for sharing your project.
Boy that's nice topsoil and you did a real good job spreading it!
You may not be an expert but you are pretty darn good at anything you try. I want to be like you when I grow up ( may be a little late as I am sneaking up on my 70th birthday). Also stick with the pit run. It worked up real nice and seemed pretty reasonable.
Looking good. Dogs are playing rough. Wow.
One suggestion when you're finishing an area for grass is to take a 4'x8' piece of chain link fence. Staple it to a 2x8 x 4ft board with 10' of rope stapled to each end. Pull it all over the area with your lawn mower to smooth out the tractor ruts... The ruts will hold water and get muddy faster than flat lawn that allows even absorption...
Best looking fill dirt I've ever seen!
Getting great using that red hunk of machine ❣👍
Keep in mind you have to cut that grass in the dog’s run. Big gate for tractor/mower. 👍 it looks nice, good job both of you.
Yeah it will need a gate to fit the lawnmower we plan on buying. But right now we will probably throw in a small gate we have on hand for now.
Y'all please have a good Thanksgiving :D
Good job!
God bless :)
Looks like he knew what he was doing he did a great job
Feeling tipsy is the #1 thing I feel on my cab tractor too. Nice job on dropping all that off and spreading it out.
Love your place.
Beautiful Pole Barn...perfect choice of colors
It is funny how people say something is
"dirt cheap" When inactiuality it is quite expensive.
...lookin' good, nice work, keep safe..
You are right on the fill. Some times just buy decent stuff, I got a bunch of free from the highway when they widened it and cleaned out the ditches. Was a lot of slop from a nearby swampy area a lot of bushes which try to grow back even after they are buried and tramped in, plus some doozy size rocks we had to pick. Free is not always the way to go.
That annual rye grass will literally grow on anything... I put down 150 lbs on hard clay/shale mixed with rocks and it looks like a stinking golf course now. I believe it germinates as low as 33 degrees
Very nice
Expensive project but hopefully the dogs will appreciate it. You did a nice job on it either way. I'm not sure about the rye grass but it will probably be warmer weather before the fescue comes around. Meanwhile thanks for sharing and have a great Thanksgiving.
What you need to do: NOTHING - you and Rebecca are doing a great job the way you have everything organized and your forward looking. You (and me) don't need "You should've blah, blah, blah"
Hey the person telling you to keep the auger straight should be the one that gets to run the auger!
As long as the ground temps are 55 degrees and above the seed will germinate, if not it will be good next spring.
Happy Thanksgiving to you 2. May your days be Blessed and 😊.
Good job
Thank you for sharing.
I really enjoy watching your videos. Watching the growth of your homestead is cool. It's fun watching like-minded people accomplish their goals good job can't wait for the next video thank you very much Happy Thanksgiving!
Lookin good.
If you had some chain link fence laying around you might have used that to level off the ground. Just drag it behind the tractor several times.
Good job !! - should look great when you're finished - I'm totally envious that you're able to use an auger for the postholes - we have so much rock it's totally impossible... Love watchin' your dogs clowning around - Thanks for sharing...
As always Evan a job done perfectly!
And also as always, a pleasure to watch.
Thank you!
To add, you two make a great team.
Awesome job. You guys take your time, and your finished product shows it. If you can find the time and money, I believe I would try to complete the other part now also. That way all would grow in together. Blessings on you guys, and stay safe🙏🏻
Such dedication to living your dream. Love it❣👍
It looked like the dogs were trying out their new dog run. : )
TYM to the rescue. Great job. Evan. Thanks for sharing. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Was pricing puppies yesterday ( We lost a 16 year old). Good option for later years... Breeding dogs. Great job! (Kansas)
I will say our favorite type of dog has been golden retrievers.
That back up horn has to drive you nuts. I run forklifts for a living and every time I back up it drives me crazy. Lol
Yes it does.
You have to be happy to get that filled in! Looks great and no downspout damage! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Yes, no damage this time. Luckily I had Rebekah to guide me when I got close to the building.
I always tried to do it all by myself with my own material but have found, you are just as far ahead going to work and spending your time making money for your project at your regular job. Then, have it your material delivered like you just did.. where you need it. There is enough work in just doing the finish work without adding the hassle of digging a borrow pit and being hard on your equipment and yourself.
Good job Rebecca and Evan. Really smooth. A fence will make it look even better. Have a good Thanksgiving and God bless.
Evan, save yourself some money. Contact local basement water proofing companies, excavating companies and sewer installers. I never have to pay for fill dirt. Often times the “fill dirt” that arrives is topsoil and I can save on my topsoil costs. If you have 3” of topsoil, that’ll be fine for the grass to grow. I’m sure your soil is still warm enough to get some germination. I enjoy your videos, people can really relate to your projects.
Just a idea would have used the wagon with the hoist to move everything around few less trips with the loader might have saved some time
That looks great Evan. You and Rebecca are a great team. You must have done it just right because the dogs are truly enjoying it. hahaha. Best wishes for a very happy Thanksgiving.
Compost works better if you dig some 5-6 feet deep, 20' Wide x 30' long hole to dump all manure and barn waste etc. They compost better if you add 5-6 inches of soil after every layer of 12-15 inches of manure, then cover it with a layer of dry/wet leaves. That's how we used to make our compost.
I think you did it right. I wouldn't go borrowing dirt from elsewhere on the property unless you already have a pile sitting someplace from another dig project. Even that would take a dump trailer and a lot of scoops to get it where you wanted it. Like you said, there's probably good soil in the pond, but that might be a good project to do now, for when you need dirt next year. Give it time to dry out.
Happy Thanksgiving Evan and Becky from Wisconsin.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
It’s definitely late to plant for our area but you’d be surprised sometimes. It wouldn’t surprise me if it went ahead and at least had some germination. We have some warm weather coming in December. If it doesn’t you’ll see a good amount in the spring. I like to put some wheat seed in on something like that. It’ll germinate quick and grow later and sooner and you can get bin run wheat really cheap. But I think you’ll be fine. It’s looking good. Any time you have to haul fill it gets expensive. Keep up the good work.
People frost seed in the late fall/early winter, so your seed should germinate .
Happy Thanksgiving from Chandler, AZ 🦃. Love all of your videos.Stay Safe and may God bless you.🚜👏👍💯🙏
Hi Evan and Rebekah, you are doing a great job! Your videos are so enjoyable, loved the different camera angles! It was fun watching your dogs play! Happy Thanksgiving!
Have you talked to any construction companies about taking and building the walls and Chi-Lites stair stepping it down the hill a little bit make light Planters and stuff Happy Thanksgiving hope it's a great one
That looks great! You have a lot of skill. Happy Thanksgiving🦃👍
A good job doing your backfill. That was a big one. Have a Happy Thanksgiving guys!
Looks grate(see what I did there?)
I love that the doggos were wrestling in the pen while you were working on it!
#seeyounexttime
Thx
I think 50 degrees is kinda the germination magic temp. You probably don’t want it to germinate now, or colder temps in December will kill the tender sprouts. Maybe your mulch will help ease the cold. Best case is it goes dormant and sprouts in the spring. **If the dogs spend much time in there, won’t be much grass anyway!
Happy turkey day do you a back blade? It would easy to grade out and dress the driveway and thanks again for your videos
Dang Ethan, we just can't win for losing. It's looking good though . Glad to kinda know another dog lover. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Ever thought of trying R14 tires on your tractor.
👍👍❤
Stop the auger, lift the auger out of the ground, then spin the auger and it will throw the dirt off the auger, I never have to use a hand digger.
The hand digger was because the hole was at an angle. I had to dig out the side for the post to go in straight.
Put out the word to some builders and excavating contractors that you are looking for clean fill dirt. You may able to get dirt for free.
That grass seed should take off this spring when the temps get right. You did a great job on grading all that dirt out. Keep up the good work!
hi made a dog pen like you doing put a chainlink fence 6ft high put dogs in going in house turn round dogs behind me thy just jump over it had to put roll top on no it so as there jump up it roll and thy not get a grip
Yes you could have got backfill off your property but think about the time it would have taken you. Your time is more valuable
Sure wish I could dig that deep with my post hole digger and not hit rock.
Nice, as an additional cost; how much did you pay your dogs to help you? Lol
Dredge the pond? How? Not cheap renting the equipment.
She’s dressed like it’s 40 below zero on your dress like it’s 60° out lol
I wear layers. I had thermals on under pants and sweatshirt. That usually keeps me warm. I don't wear a coat till it's below freezing. Rebekah just throws on insulated bids and a Carhart jacket. We have different styles.
What are plans for Your Downspouts
Eventually trench in a drainage pipe to the pond inlet. For now extensions to get the water away.
I was waiting for the grader blade to go on or is that finish slope to steap for your taste. And is your dump trailer or dump wagon still full of hay to get dirt back there with less trips.
Looking good, Evan. Wouldn't your dump wagon work to move soil on your property?
Gee, if you only had a dump trailer to make fewer trips.
great job, good viedo, ty. that is a very versatile tractor, is it 4wd, what horse power. ty.
67 horse power and 4 wheel drive
You need some duels for your tractor I'll be better more sturdier
ok
Hi there..
What type of dog you guys have and why?
Btw it's beautiful..
We have Australian Sheppards. We thought they would be fun dogs to have.
🙂👍
New video from Field Rows channel: ruclips.net/video/yqJGT8boIZo/видео.html
This Country View Acres video was also shared on the newest Field Rows channel, as well. Happy Thanksgiving.
Those are two expensive dogs.
How much a yard was the gravel and loam?
Cost is at the end of the video.
It is not measured by the YARD?
@@johnwood7372 , no they weigh the trucks.

You are making all that investment of time and money for a DOG KENNEL? Sounds like a huge waste of money off hand.
Keep in mind that it's real easy to put money INTO a business, including a farm. Getting it back out again when you need uit is QUITE a different matter.
Looks good
