  • Today we are moving most of our power tools into the pole Barn where our woodworking shop will be. Also we have a few stainless tables we picked up at auctions, to use in the food prep kitchen. And contractors have installed seamless gutters and a cupola on the barn.

    Want to suggest sealing the floor on the barn for longevity & durability from stains & spills.

    • @trentencaskey7641
      @trentencaskey7641 3 года назад +3

      Was just going to say the same thing. You've already done the hard part...letting the floor cure for a month. Now a couple of coats of sealer will do wonders. Not only will it help in cleanup of diesel fuel/hydraulic oil/antifreeze/etc., but it will help reduce the odor retention of any spills you'd have.

    Evan, I'm new to your videos but have watched quite a few in a short time, esp. the barn build. Your wood working is an inspiration to me and my husband, who I insisted watch the end about your segmented wood work. It is absolutely beautiful! My husband is 71, I am 66. Together we gutted and rebuilt our home over 20 yrs.which still has some work to do....but he has put in beautiful oak stairs and woodwork and has done some other projects as well... such as his model ship building and ships in a bottle. I so want him to return to this wonderful talent, and you and Rebecca remind us of our former days. Hold on to your dreams you'll have that new lathe some day!. I helped my husband with many things just as your wife helps you. You have a lively homestead. Thanks for sharing the cost of everything. Many people feel that is rude to ask, but to share... you help others know how the cost can change and estimates aren't always reliable in the end (fill dirt) Loved the Aussies checking out their new pad. LOL We are also an Aussies family. Good luck to you both!

    I can’t believe you do that beautiful woodwork and have never mentioned it! It’s absolutely gorgeous! You will have to do a few videos of you making a piece when you get everything set up. What a nice surprise.
    And I’m not going to lie, I was worried about Rebecca’s toes. 😂 So glad they made it safely. That was a job! Have a great day 🙂

    Good morning and a great video! That shop is taking shape! Good finds for the kitchen/butcher area! Very cool, having your grandfather’s drill press (very cool one too) on your great-great-grandfathers farm. Is the latter the former’s grandfather? Meaning same stem on the family tree? That would be even more awesome. Your video content will explode once you start showing us your woodworking projects. Nice stuff, literally and figuratively.

    Pro-Tip from a 20 yr Chef - Cover cutting boards with plain white paper towels and then pour and saturate with bleach , wait at least 8 hrs so bleach can soak in, then rinse with water.. It should help remove stains and sanitize ...

    Not sure how hardcore you want to go on the woodworking upgrade for the Lathe but you could start searching for an old Shopsmith someone inherited, they are usually in great condition or look at www.grizzly.com/wood-lathes as they have pretty big sales from time to time that give you a chance to really upgrade if you can time it right. Nice lathe work there
