Friday Night Flies - Easy Saltwater Baitfish Fly

Jordan just got back from a trip to Florida where he was fishing for Jack’s and Tarpon. He caught a lot of fish on this pattern so this is a great pattern to have in your box in a variety of colors. Tarpon have extremely hard mouths so having the right hook is key and this 4/0 hook is a serious piece of hardware. More patterns and recipes are on our website at fridaynightflies.com/

Nearly, but not quite there. A lot of bulk in the fly considering the spiel at the start of the tie. A properly hollow tied body would give the same size profile with much less material. The second problem is how much that is going to foul....

to get maximum movement at a slower strip retreive,use the loop.fast strip app.,tie directly as in boiling fish on a bait ball.you may want a loop for boilers to imitate injured bait.experiment ok.

As someone who is just learning how to tie flies, it would be great if you backed up the camera instead of just focusing on the vice. Often you cannot see what he is doing until he is tying the material onto the hook.

@@4runnerexpress550 I’m guessing because he’s Canadian tying saltwater patterns. Also he saying that EP is usually tied with flat waxed and not mono. There are also various reasons one would want to tie traditional bulk vs hollow such as sink rate and action. He also proceeded to tie a bulky tie until a reverse tie at the very end.
