Early Europeans already tried bringing in predators to deal with pests they introduced prior and the native wildlife always suffered much worse than the rats/rabbits/mice etc.
I lived on Kwajalein Island for 5 years, working for a private contractor (JCWS) for the military base there (Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Test Site now, was Kwajalein Missile Range back in the day), Kwajalein Atoll is in the Marshall Islands, same as Bikini Atoll and is southeast of Bikini. I read the account of one of the nuclear tests at Bikini with the ships in the harbor. In WWII, the largest battleship Germany had was the Bismarck, which of course was sunk. However, it's sister ship, the Prinz Eugen, which was 681 feet long, had been damaged in the war and was being repaired when Germany surrendered. So it was taken to Bikini and was in the lagoon when the atomic test bomb went off. It was recorded that the Prinz Eugen was thrown 100' into the air during the blast (note that again, it was 681 feet long, and 18,710 TONS in weight) and when it came down, the impact cracked it's spine. It was taking on water, and was towed to an island where I was at Kwajalein Atoll, and one night capsized and sank.
