Hi Garrett, very informative video, thanks a lot! I will move to London from overseas, are there any neighbourhoods should I avoid due to safety, high prices etc?
Old South Wortley Village area home to many heritage properties ...It's laid back, no traffic and you often have fun hanging out with nieghbours on porches and back yards...The Wortley Roadhouse and store owners have weekend events, bring the kids, dances on the street etc.
Good video. London is a great city, very green. City Hall needs to spend more on making the city centre more fun. Water fountains, big screen tv monitors, more flashing lights like other southern Ontario cities.
Thank you for the awesome video. Still trying to figure out, whether to move to Hamilton or London 😁 But London is winning my heart over. Shout out from Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thank you for this video. Ill be coming to London as an international student this coming August so this video has given me some insight on what to expect. My biggest concern is finding work but im hopeful all will be fine.
Yeah. That was a very good overview about the city. I hoped for a bit more information about the seasons and cost of living. There were a bit few "cons" for my taste, but I'm German and so I think I just scream for negative stuff :D Anyway. Thanks a lot for the insights. It seems to be a very calm city for North America.
Hi I was born in London Ontario 1988 and I moved out of London when I was 13 , such a beaitful city use too be called the Forest City when I was living there
Heyyyy Garrett, amazing videos. Planning to study at Fanshawe College in Downtown. I just want to know as an International student perspective about the average rent in sharing with other students or people and part time jobs. Also, can you also give an insight on the restaurants in London; because one of my friend is planning study Culinary Management.
Somewhat unique surrounded by 3 Great Lakes (average time 45mins drive). The World's Oldest Original BASEBALL STADIUM. Largest Retro Arcade in Canada (TILT Barcade) downtown.
Hi Garrett! Which area will you suggest for a family with small kids? I’m concerned more on job opportunities (husband and I are both nurses) and of course safety for our kids.
London does have many hospitals, so unsure if you're looking for work in those. I would suggest Masonville area which is close to St Joe's and University Hospital. Maybe Old South if you're looking at Victoria Hospital or Parkwood
Thank you it is very informative. By the way, when did you make this video? I want to know how long the snow stays on the ground during the winter time through the spring time.
Outside of the city you've got many small town choices. Komoka/Kilworth (expensive) in the West, Strathroy (larger)/Mt Bridges, Middlesex Centre has some good choices like Ilderton, Lucan, etc.. and you have St Thomas a smaller city to the south
Interesting and informative. I do not drive and don't have a car. I may get a job with London Health Services Centre. Where would be an affordable place to live that's on a regular service? Thanks a lot.
Bus service in London is still stuck in the stone age. Nothing runs past midnight. They believe everyone works Monday to Friday, 9 to 5. Buses mostly run late.
I've lived in both provinces. Ontario has a larger population and more options for cities over 200,000. Alberta tends to be cheaper for cost of living. Access to the states in AB are like the Dakota's/Montana. Ontario you've got Michigan, Chicago, and NY. You've got more universities and colleges in Ontario.
London is only 2hrs away so the winter pretty much lasts the same. London gets a bit more snow usually as it's inbetween two great lakes however TO is right on the water so it gets its own lake effect
I'm thinking of doing internships in W.U. My main question: Is London safe? (since kinda living in EC have gave me a "permanten alert" state of mind haha) What are the best neighbourhoods in terms of security and budget? Thank you for the video!
Everything is expensive, unless you live EOA. (East Of Adelaide) That's where I was born and raised. It's pretty safe unless you live EOA. But I'm 42 and haven't even been murdered once. Prices for rent anywhere close to UWO or Fanshawe always have a hefty premium. It's also hard to even find a place to rent. More and more homeless every year :( . If you do decide to come here, give yourself lots of time to find an apartment or you might not get one.
Lots an Lots and Lots of Indians in London now. Like a staggering amount. Not that there's anything wrong with that I love Indian food and the women!!! Beautiful women!
I've lived all over Ontario, London sucks, its marooned in the middle of nowhere filled with people all in a rush - to nowhere. My friends that visit from Toronto all laugh at them. If you must live in the area pick one of the adjacent small towns instead.
Funny… yeah when I moved to Toronto I learned to adapt to the speed of the city, coming back to London was a shocker… I like to say it’s where people come to die. There’s a lot of Seniors here and they are in no hurry. My colleagues from Toronto all love the idea of moving to London, you can easily have a dual-income in the GTA and end up stuck in a Townhouse or Semi. Very difficult. I was fortunate, I ended up with a better career when I moved back and now London is very affordable. I’d love to move back to the GTA but Toronto is only 2 hours away. The main difference? I can get to work in 10 minutes instead of 2-1/2 hours. I think my best situation in Toronto was a 20 minute walk, but once I started working downtown it was definitely at least an hour each way. I remember living in Mississauga and having to get to Richmond Hill. One family vehicle, so if I took transit I had to leave the house around 5:45, just to get to work by 9 yikes. It can be 5 or 6 hours for transportation in the GTA. London traffic is not great in some areas but nothing like the GTA.
Hate to disagree with you but London is an awful place especially if you have to drive. Betting its the only city of 500K with no incity high speed road and no ring road. Good luck if you have to drive. City leaders of the past were so intent on preserving its small town feel they forgot about any planning for the future
I agree with you on the lack of alternative transit. I've lived in a few other cities and always used their light rail and other transportations on-top of owning a car. They tried there for a moment circa 2012? But it failed (frustratingly) , I think a ring around the city like SkyTrain in Van could have worked with all the sprawl
Do not move to London. The bus system is horrible. They still think that people all work 9 to 5 Monday to Friday. Many areas, over 20 years old still do not have bus service. They are incouraging business around the airport, but only one bus goes threw twice a day. If your hours do not match, too bad. Nothing past midnight. Weekend buses bad as well. We escape 4 years ago. Have visited our daughter. London is getting worse. She is hoping to escape a pe in a few more years. The downtown is a dangerous nightmare even in the middle of the day.. The downtown has been going down ever since they closed all the mental health hospitals. Lots of drugs and gangs, as it is a main drug trafficking route between Detroit and Toronto.
Strathroy and Saint Thomas are not part of London i don't know why you include them in the population of this city they absolutely are not andvare nowhere near London Ontario.🤷♂️👍✌️
Good; the parks along theRiver. The concerts in a small venue. The hockey team London Knights. The summers are nice . Winter doesn’t start until mid December. The bad : downtown is full of druggies esp on Dundas Street! The city politicians could do better! They have nice Victoria park , near big cathedral and Insurance blding. Rest is run down and frankly not safe. Takes cops hour to come out for calls esp breakins. The shock is the 8,000 plus rentals. They are losing big time on permits, licences and tax dollars . Websites way out of date. Landlords are crooks as rates going up ! Garbage is not green . No blue/green bins. You can toss couches and beds out onto streets. Not much in the way of bottle depots With a city full of 🦝 raccoons, squirrels and skunks the trash is all over. London could do better !!!
What are your top 3 neighbourhoods?
Woodfield, Hellmuth, Old South.
@@originaltommygreat choices... former Woodfield resident here!

Hi, so have you moved to London already what is your opinion about the city?
Thank you for your video I’m moving from Montreal to Ontario and I’m debating between London and Hamilton so your video helps a lot 😊
You will like Hamilton. Hamilton is not very affordable tho
U wont like Hamilton. Hamilton is very dangerous i hope you made the right decision for your own sake

McCormick Canada Club House Spices manufacturing started here in the 1880’s, and its Canada headquarters is here.
Traffic is a pain in London. No freeway system.
Bus system is a mess as well.

Hi. I shot this in the first week of December. We had snow until early March. Some years there's lot of snow and cold temps and sometimes not as bad.
It is snowing
Is it snowing now???
Very nice 👌 👍 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Hello sir.
Can you recommend a good pocket for a family of 3? I’m need of good insight as to how good neighborhoods are?
Thank you.

I dont know why there are still homeless in canada there are so many jobs in canada. Just people need to persevere and work. They will make a living.
