Champagne good for you, not enough people care about that to make a business case though. This is the kind of vehicle that sells today, if you were making decisions for Gm based on what you want you would surely drive them to bankruptcy in short order.
@@DrewLSsix "This is the kind of vehicle that sells..." No fuck no it isn't. That's why GM is losing sales numbers year after year. That's why Honda and Toyota are taking over the domestic market and already out-sell the small car categories. The existing decisions of GM are proof that you can have an absolutely massive dealer network, bailouts, and have millions of die-hard fans of your numerous brands who remember the good ole days, and still have declining market share year after year. The 2019 Blazer is just another Equinox, Trail Blazer, Trax, Traverse, Orlando, Acadia... how many times can they rebrand the same vehicle? Will it compete well against the Honda CRV or the Toyota RAV4? Nope, they're both obviously commuter AWD mid-size SUVs and the RAV4 is cheaper, gets better gas mileage, and will almost certainly be more reliable. So GM is launching another clone that is losing on every relevant metric against the market leader in its category, it will be slaughtered in the market. Whereas the Tahoe and Suburban remain extremely popular... hmm, any hint there GM what your customers want?
Why spend $35k when you can buy a 1998 4Runner for $8000? Similar cargo, tows more, looks better, better visibility, actual 4wd, similar gas mileage, more reliable, better off-road clearance, lighter weight, far cheaper repairs, none of the useless touchscreen junk that will break in a few years. "...The Blazer is the family vehicle that actually appeals to the whole family, and for that reason it upsets the Honda on its home court." I think the Motor Trend staff was weeping when they wrote that!
Let me start by saying they absolutely knocked it out of the park on exterior styling here, easily one of the best looking SUVs out there... period. But oh my god what are they thinking with the pricing of this?!?! It's EASILY 6000 too expensive. Now it is a Chevy so they price it anticipating you're gonna haggle 10k off of it because that's how chevy is, but still. The interior on this car is absolute garbage for 50k. My Lexus RX350 fsport only cost 53000 (fully loaded after haggling), only 3000 more! It has a FAR superior interior, better resale, better ride, better badge, better... everything. They are absolutely nuts on this pricing and I can absolutely promise you that they are going to have trouble selling these just based on the pricing! I give it 1 year until they lower the price by 4-5000.
That is about what the discounting is with cash on the hood today on the Blazer. It has only been out since the beginning of the year so the discounting will only get better.
So you’re saying you wouldn’t want Chevy to make a 700+ Hp Chevy blazer for under 90k? Not saying they need to just that the brand lacks excitement other then then the Camaro and vette in my opinion.
@@inyoface690 Would I want Chevy to make a 700hp Blazer? Sure, I just don't think it would sell well. A 700hp crossover is not going to sell no matter who makes it. Crossovers are disposable vehicles that typically see motor/trans issues by 50k no matter what brand you buy, so a 700hp doesn't seem logical IMO. I could see something like a Tahoe or Suburban having a factory trim/package with an LT4 like the Hennessy versions, that I would buy in a heartbeat.
@@inyoface690 Yet look at the two brands. Sure Dodge is selling more challengers than the Camaro but that's because they don't have anything else besides the charger. While GM has the regal, Malibu, CT6 soon the CT5 and CT4. The Malibu isn't exciting sure but they have other cars that are exciting.

@@anthonywebber2211 I wont be buying new cars then.... or I'll just after market like they did with the F150s. I fucking HATE that shit, and it does FUCK ALL for gas efficiency.
The way the headlights and the blinkers are remind me of how the 2014-2018 Jeep Cherokees are. I think of GM's going to bring back the Blazer name they should have made it a 2-door V8 rear drive like it originally was.
I forget exactly what they do, but I believe Matt mentioned in other reviews that manufacturers put buttons for the infotainment there, if there aren't paddles.
Grew up in a 1989 Blazer and remember going to the dealer with my parents to pick up at age 6 years. Was a horrible vehicle but somehow it lasted 10 years and $250k miles. Although my father was a mechanic and was always replacing something such as rear ends, steering column, etc. The first we had it the rear end was replaced under warranty three times. I learned to drive a manual in that Blazer the day before turning 13.
I'm currently driving a 2019 Chevy Equinox rental while my car is being fixed, and that delayed acceleration problem exists in that too. It's a 4 cyl turbo, so I thought maybe it was just a weird turbo lag of sorts, but maybe not... @mattmaranmotoring
$50,000!!?? 😂 That's a big PASS for me. Does it offer THAT much more than an Equinox Premier for an extra $17,000? Sure, it looks sportier. What an inflated markup, though.
The Abarth 500 also continues to accelerate after you lift off of the acceleration pedal. BUT that only occurs in economy mode. In sport mode, its throttle is perfect.
No way that pricing is going to hold. That's Audi Q5 money! I don't want to say a person would have to be crazy to pay that much for the new Blazer when they can get a brand new Q5 for the same money, but they'd have to be a hardcore Chevy fan.
The RDX is a size smaller, has less power, is half a second slower 0-60, another half second slower in the quarter, worse braking, worse lateral acceleration, and worse mileage. The passport is a much better competitor but the Chevy still edges it out in performance and is obviously intended to be a drivers crossover.
Also a nother hard pill to swallow is where its made ... Mexico . With the layoffs here in Michigan this car has a reputation as a bad car to buy . I think GM needs to remember that sometimes where a car is made can turn people off . And as you said the price point is just wrong for this car .
Look up Sabbkyle04 and you'll be sure to find one pretty close to that year. Very similar to Matt's style of review, but a bit more through but I enjoy the both of them alot.
When has that ever happened? I don’t get why some people really think performance models sell...90% of most models are sold in low and mid range trims, anybody can buy a Trackhawk.... but they buy mid range V6 models instead. Most Camaro are not SSs, so why would this thing sell any better than any of the many crazy performance cars that make up tiny fractions of their respective lines?
I've seen a number of these reviews now and they're consistent. They like the handling, the interior (generally) and engine/tranny combination. Don't like some of the scattered hard plastics and the pricing points for the various models are too high. You listening Chevy?
@@Carlos-nq7up hell, like anything that's not a Chevy. Would be hard pressed to get an equally equipped Lexus below that price though. Mazda CX-9 is a good bet.
DrewLSsix pickups still win. More space, 22/27 vs 20/26 where the truck comes with a tt v6 so that's better performance seating capacity is higher in a truck and the back row of the truck has over a foot of legroom not to mention a cheaper price.

It's not a performance SUV, it's not a luxury SUV, it's far costlier to own than existing commuter SUVs, it doesn't have the frame and suspension for heavy loads or towing, and it can't off-road. I would love to buy US-made but honestly I never buy brand-new cars anyway; I support Americans directly by buying their used cars.
Very nice review
Someone please get this man in a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
You want sporty for less than $50K, get a Durango RT. 5.7L V8. Plus you can tow a decent sized trailer with it.
Yeah but i bet that thing will break first before this blazer does idk
Durango rt are amazing
Dodge Transmissions, that's all I'm saying
I like it but it’s gonna lose its resale value once the transmission blows up at 30k miles
Uh oh, are they having issues with the trans? I haven't seen anything.
daaper the transmission they are using in this model is built in Mexico alongside certain under international models , the under pinnings of critical items are made of plastic which wear off like hell in the first 24 months , The six speed really can’t handle the turbo 4 cylinder at peak and it’s highly detuned in the v6 versions
The whole vehicle is built in Mexico. But you're right - not to mention the engine blowing up before 50,000 miles
@@3052022 there no more 6-speed transmissions from GM.
The 2019 Blazer transmissions consist of the GM 9-speed automatic transmission, as follows:
2.5L LCV I-4 engine is mated to the 9T50 transmission (M3D)
3.6L LGX V-6 engine is mated to the 9T65 transmission (M3V)
@@effend446 the 9T50 used with 2.5l 4-cylinder is assembled in Mexico and has been used in a number of Buick and Chevy models. The 9T65 is assembled around the world.
The engines are assembled in the U.S.
How many times did he say "you know" and "you have?" We could make this a drinking game.
This guy never ages!
The exterior looks amazing I hope it sells well.
Chevy has lost their effing mind. 50k??? It will be worth 18k in three years....GM, took bailout money, closed a lot of American jobs, and sell 50k midsize suv’s......lame
For 50k i can get a fucking rubicon and off road it lmfao
Champagne: AGREE!!
Champagne good for you, not enough people care about that to make a business case though. This is the kind of vehicle that sells today, if you were making decisions for Gm based on what you want you would surely drive them to bankruptcy in short order.
50 is fully loaded. The rs starts at 40k
Whereas the Tahoe and Suburban remain extremely popular... hmm, any hint there GM what your customers want?
what is the specific exterior color of the model your driving?
I believe it's called 'Nightfall Gray Metallic'. If not, it's just 'Graphite Metallic'.
I wonder if the headlight bulb change is as "easy as it looks" 😂
The analog gauges are from an 02' Silverado.
King Dookie so?

35k car at best.
Dragracin 95 I thought the same thing.. like WHY?
@@Dabologist these will drop 20k with 2 years of being used
Why spend $35k when you can buy a 1998 4Runner for $8000? Similar cargo, tows more, looks better, better visibility, actual 4wd, similar gas mileage, more reliable, better off-road clearance, lighter weight, far cheaper repairs, none of the useless touchscreen junk that will break in a few years. Hmmm, hard decision?

More reviews like this please! It brought me back to the old days! I miss when you uploaded so many car reviews! Id like you to get back to that! I loved this video! It may have reminded me of the old days but the quality was definitely better! Great content on this channel! Keep it coming!
The 9-3 grip is like that because mostly women will drive this and they mostly use the 10-2 notches.
Love the videos and loved that intro..Keep it up 💯
"...The Blazer is the family vehicle that actually appeals to the whole family, and for that reason it upsets the Honda on its home court."
I think the Motor Trend staff was weeping when they wrote that!
You know what else upsets the Honda? Any situation where it might actually need a working AWD system.
I wish Chevy would be as bold as dodge and put crazy HP in their cars
Chevy's don't need crazy HP numbers because they are not boats like Dodge's are
So you’re saying you wouldn’t want Chevy to make a 700+ Hp Chevy blazer for under 90k?
@@inyoface690
Yet look at the two brands. Sure Dodge is selling more challengers than the Camaro but that's because they don't have anything else besides the charger. While GM has the regal, Malibu, CT6 soon the CT5 and CT4. The Malibu isn't exciting sure but they have other cars that are exciting.
@@99-Zulu the sales speak for themselves and dodge is winning the market statistically
start/stop feature, especially one that is NOT able to be turned off, makes sure this car will NEVER hit my driveway. We'll be going with the RDX in 2020
It will be government mandated soon
@@anthonywebber2211 I wont be buying new cars then.... or I'll just after market like they did with the F150s. I fucking HATE that shit, and it does FUCK ALL for gas efficiency.
Production needs to be moved to the US or this model will die after tariffs.
The way the headlights and the blinkers are remind me of how the 2014-2018 Jeep Cherokees are. I think of GM's going to bring back the Blazer name they should have made it a 2-door V8 rear drive like it originally was.
50k 🤣.. GM is smoking crack
Jason Hall but people are dumb and pay it
thanks for the in-depth review
Looks nice but I'd rather wait for these to cost less than 10k 4yrs from now.
You are the smartest person on RUclips
At 17:02 you were talking about the lack of paddle shifters, so what are the switches behind the wheel on each side, on the crossbar?
I forget exactly what they do, but I believe Matt mentioned in other reviews that manufacturers put buttons for the infotainment there, if there aren't paddles.
Nice but I’m not paying 50k.
40k Max with AWD and I’ll think about it.
For 50K I’ll hop in a Jeep high altitude.
I’m out of step with what people want.
Awesome review as always Matt!
Didn't the Pontiac Aztek start that type of headlight assembly?
$50,000!!?? 😂 That's a big PASS for me. Does it offer THAT much more than an Equinox Premier for an extra $17,000? Sure, it looks sportier. What an inflated markup, though.
the Equinox is smaller
The Abarth 500 also continues to accelerate after you lift off of the acceleration pedal. BUT that only occurs in economy mode. In sport mode, its throttle is perfect.
It actually looks good man!!
Outstanding review Matt.
Who tf would buy this for 50k 😂. Chevy has lost their damn minds.
No way that pricing is going to hold. That's Audi Q5 money! I don't want to say a person would have to be crazy to pay that much for the new Blazer when they can get a brand new Q5 for the same money, but they'd have to be a hardcore Chevy fan.
32 minutes on an SUV? Who you think you are Doug?
Thenar Eminence. That's what your thumb muscles are called @3:50. This has been your anatomy lesson for the day. You're welcome. 😉
Looks cool (only in RS trim) but too expensive. I'd get an RDX or Passport instead.
RDX Yes>Passport NO>UGLY!
@@gregholman2930 this is why you don't RDX:
acurazine.com/forums/3g-rdx-problems-fixes-458/
The RDX is a size smaller, has less power, is half a second slower 0-60, another half second slower in the quarter, worse braking, worse lateral acceleration, and worse mileage.
The passport is a much better competitor but the Chevy still edges it out in performance and is obviously intended to be a drivers crossover.
Also a nother hard pill to swallow is where its made ... Mexico . With the layoffs here in Michigan this car has a reputation as a bad car to buy . I think GM needs to remember that sometimes where a car is made can turn people off . And as you said the price point is just wrong for this car .
Much worse quality Santa Fe wannabe.
CiTY_HuNTeR funny since the Santa Fe was a Chevy rip off back in the early to mid life of Kia.
great review man, simply well said.
We have a 93 blazer with the 350 v8, but man even though this is a crossover it's beautiful
I wonder if GM will build a SS with the twin turbo V6 and rear bias awd. That a Trailblazer I will buy
SpeedDemon2581 they just need to bring the trailblazer back
There is a 2 door body on frame test mule been seen on the road . If GM is smart they will make at least 1 trim lvl a Raptor fighter
review a 1987 Chevy S10
Look up Sabbkyle04 and you'll be sure to find one pretty close to that year. Very similar to Matt's style of review, but a bit more through but I enjoy the both of them alot.
The Camero design team did the front. The Traverse design team did the rear. The drunk design team did the interior.
Jeff S The drunk design team designs all the GM interiors
Put the ZL1 motor with a dope AWD system and watch this thing fly off showroom floors. Make it a trackhawk competitor.
I love how matt knows we love the backroad parts of his videos
I like the look actually, the narrow aggressive accent lights
This is the only crossover I would buy!
When your Blazer looks better than your Camaro
Hot crossovers could be America's hot hatch.
Welcome to the cheap plastic hell + outdated engines & transmissions. I'd rather get a 50k RAV4, which is 5 times more worth in 10 years.
GMs 9sp FWD transmission only came out last year
Subaruwrxfan at it again!
$50k for this lol no way chevy is crazy !!!
I've seen a number of these reviews now and they're consistent. They like the handling, the interior (generally) and engine/tranny combination. Don't like some of the scattered hard plastics and the pricing points for the various models are too high.
You listening Chevy?
50k for that? You could get a better vehicle for less money.

Those are so expensive there's no reason to get one over a nice pickup. Especially since cloth pickups are in the 30's and leather in the 40's
whiteandnerdytuba plenty of reasons to not buy a pick up.
DoYouJ? Plenty of reasons to be abstinent but are you really going to say no
whiteandnerdytuba Mileage, dry storage, seating capacity, ride and comfort, handling, over all performance.
DrewLSsix pickups still win. More space, 22/27 vs 20/26 where the truck comes with a tt v6 so that's better performance seating capacity is higher in a truck and the back row of the truck has over a foot of legroom not to mention a cheaper price.
Just as the new rear wheel drive Explorer that should be offered with the Coyote V8..... This Blazer should also be offered with an LS 5.3 / 6.2 Imagine the sales of these with an optional V8
Chevy has a chance to go at Jeep and put the LT4 motor in this 👀 take the damn hint Chevy 🤬!!
HI, thanks for your video. I have some questions because I am thinking about buying one. 1). After a week of driving, did the solid button piece on the steering wheel make any difference? At the beginning you said it was in the way of your thumbs/palm etc. 2). Are there any recent upgrades or options to decommission or turn off the auto start/stop? 3). How do you think this vehicle compares with the Range Rover Sport or Evoque (price aside) ? Finally, can you do a review of the Escalade and the McClaren 720S (the convertible one). thanks!
