Continued from before: Good winter boots with tread, like winter tires, ski gloves and warm scarves to wrap around the neck and face when needed. My husbands family had a chateau (cottage) about 3 hours north of Montreal, in the Laurentian mountains. We created a skating rink on the lake, enjoyed snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the forest. It was magical! One Christmas the outdoor thermometer read at -48 Degrees Centigrade. Keep in mind that -40 is the same on both Fahrenheit and Centigrade thermometers. At that temperature my top and bottom eyelashes froze together and every breath felt like being punched in a lung. Also, we forgot to plug in our car (this keep the engine warm enough to start) and we ended up having to get it towed to a garage to get it working again. At those temperatures you are grateful to snuggle by the fire.
There are a few places to dump snow on the island and end creating large mountains of snow that take a long time to melt. One of them is an old quarry next to PIE-IX just north of highway 40
Very respectful video as usual. About where they put the snow, it is transported to different regulated snow dumps on the island (8 total I think). They don’t dispose of it directly in the St-Lawrence river anymore because of the salt contain in the snow witch would disturb the water quality and wildlife. I think there should be more people showing Montréal's beauty. Most content revolves around Old Montréal and the big attractions such as the Olympic Stadium and the Mount Royal park. But how about your typical street and the very unique architectural styles that defines Montréal's housing and that you find all over the city. From the Plateau/Mile end to the South West, the Village, Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, the McGill ghetto/Milton Park, Westmount and Outremont. People are often centered around skyscrapers and big monuments, while forgetting the everyday life beauty that makes Montréal such a pleasant city. I agree it's not one of the world's (or even just North America) most beautiful city, but I think it still deserves to be shown and adressed more than it actually is and I think your video is doing an amazing job in that matter!
I have no idea how is the sensation to be in a place where the snow cover all around. I'm here without a shirt imagining how frizzy I would be if I were clogged in a snow like you were when recording the video. 🥶🥶
If you love the first snowfall but dislike it by end of winter, then you are Canadian already. The snow shoveling will keep you fit when you are young, and kill you when you are old. It's heaven on earth in summer and frozen tundra in winter. Welcome to Canada.
While I'm watching this, I'm actually wondering if it's worth it to get a car in Canada. It seems smarter to find a job close to your apartment to go to work by walking ?
Yeah i'm from Québec too and I don't live in Montréal, but if I was I would not have a car ! Not only for the snow but you can ticket if your car is not on the right side of the road when they remove the snow. Also, in summer, there is so much construction and trafic it's just ridiculous to have a car in this city. If I lived there I would only take commune transport like the bus or métro...but for other places in canada you have to own a car cause everything is at great distances and you can't rely on bus too much. It's really more country side except for big cities. So if you live in a big city like Montréal you really can save you the trouble of owning a car but other wise you have to have one especialy in country side

Such a beautiful city , but gees winters are so damn long., then when you think it’s finally over by March/April you’re dealing with the slush all over and weird creepy weather. Still love with my country with passion :-)
In Stratford it’s illegal to park on the road because the snowplough wouldn’t be able to go through and it’s weird because this is a small city and they rarely plough the sidewalks. This was a great video with awesome takes, as usual. 💕
Had had enough snow and ice after living in Michigan for 20 years. Finally moved to Florida, and don’t want to deal with snow any more. Good to see snow in videos though.
After 65 yrs in Alberta, I moved to Vancouver. After awhile it’s a safety issue for elders, really hard to get around, slippery and if you fall outside in -30 and aren’t found, you’ll freeze to death. So most seniors don’t go far all winter, but we all love our country! We’re a tough bunch!

Canada: Snowboarding in the middle of the city

I have no idea how is the sensation to be in a place where the snow cover all around. I'm here without a shirt imagining how frizzy I would be if I were clogged in a snow like you were when recording the video. 🥶🥶
I don't know anybody here that never experience a frozen part of his body ! Nose, toes, ears, fingers... we get used to it !
Awesome video
The have snow plows for the sidewalks? Cool.
Definitely, we plow sidewalks in a hurry...
Yeah those little plows are fast and efficient, when you ear one coming, move away from the sidewalk.
Sandra, in Ottawa we even have plows specially for the bike lanes !
Love how chonky the squirrels get for winter :)
Metro station Sherbrooke has a French bistro/bakery shop called patisserie saint Louis de France 😋👌
@@lilpoo22 Merci Anne-Aurélie. Je suis français et je vais probablement venir exercer en tant qu'infirmier clinicien d'ici peu au Québec. Thanks for your pieces of advice! Cheers!
Hello Dan!! Definitely summer, I live in Chicago, and I have enough winter already.
February might be a short month, but it feels the longest :(

Nope. I’m Canadian and I don’t know what that is until now. We don’t get abundant of snow at western Canada. Like the west coast
Hopefully you visited the restaurant/bistro: Frites Alors! Menu items are delicious and there freshly made potato donuts still warm from the oven 😋🤤👌
Such a beautiful city , but gees winters are so damn long., then when you think it’s finally over by March/April you’re dealing with the slush all over and weird creepy weather.
Still love with my country with passion :-)
How true !
Real spring only starts after mid-April.
@@antonboludo8886 Yep it has almost a 5 month winter.
@@NK72TO Exactly!
Its a beautiful video. Loved it the way you showed it. Anything for calgary canada, how are things there during the snow time. Thanks

My brain when seeing the streets:
its a BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Come to ottawa. We have the longest out door skating rink in the world. The Rideau Canal.
In Stratford it’s illegal to park on the road because the snowplough wouldn’t be able to go through and it’s weird because this is a small city and they rarely plough the sidewalks. This was a great video with awesome takes, as usual.
💕
i love the snow it is awesome very cool
Last year was nice i hope we get a snow storm soon!!
Being a Canadian with a car during winter feels like archeolgy.
who wants to be sweaty all day right. Can't wait for winter and the cool weather
Any chance you'll do some content about Toronto this year?
Bring a shovel lmao accurate af
I love Canada. 🍁
It looks pretty
Promise me you wont stop making vids, dan! Make more about canadian life, interviews expat, 😄 thanks
