@@PNWSamson You betcha! I have a small Aluminum RHIB that I take everywhere, did Brooks Peninsula and Lawn Point just last year. My favorite spot though, is Rugged Point/Capoose Creek, highly recommend it. Besides snorkelling a bit, I have yet to learn proper free diving. Will be moving to Ucluelet in a couple weeks, and planning on taking the course with Bottom Dwellers in May. I'm pretty excited about this. If you ever want to go out on the boat, let me know! Looking forward to your next video!
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I have horrible acoustics where I edit so I voice over in another room. Otherwise the audio sounds like crap. I moved the computer and set up a temporary booth, which seemed to do the trick. I think that'll be my go to from now on. It takes way less time and I get to say what I want in the way I'm feeling at that moment. Cheers man.
@@GoldVP... Haha close! Picked up some moving blankets. The closet was accurate though. I might build a booth of sorts and soundproof it. Just need to figure out where it will go.
I’ve been watching since you had like 200 subscribers, the narration in this video is the way to go going forward! Also, you won’t burn out so quick pumping out the vids it should be fun!
Thanks for the feedback man! Yeah, I've been seeing your name pop up for years. Stoked to see you are still following along. Hope you had a great time over the holidays!
I like this narration a-lot. When you read from a script, you have a more formal cadence. You have a very distinct way of talking. This sounds more natural. It suits the videos, seems genuine. Anyways, thanks for posting!
No sweat and thanks for the feedback. I wish I could go back in time and have just done this from the get go. Less like a safety training video narrator and more like a person having a conversation lol. Hope you're doing well!
😮I learned something new today. Didn't know about the sea urchin and the red at depth is not revealed until you get closer to the surface. That was kinda mind blowing. Thanks for the edumacation! 👍
Yeah, my pleasure! I forgot that too, or at least it doesn't always register. I just thought that was a darker shade of red sea urchin. It was pretty cool watching it change colors on the way up.
From a personal point of view I like the winter for watching your channel as the vis is usually always clear. Those sea lions were awesome and just saying hello. I like the live audio you are doing and if this is less time for working on videos the better. A Rhinoceros crab... never heard of those. Your channel has taught me alot about the amazing creatures below!
Thanks man! I agree, I think I get better results and it's waaaaaaay easier to edit. I'll be doing it this was the majority of the time. The Rhinosorous crabs are nuts. I'm so happy I was able to finally find one. And happy you like winter diving! I enjoy it more too. I also would rather be editing on a dark, cold rainy winter day than when it's beautiful and sunny out. All round, RUclips is a better winter hobby for me.
Loved the video. And love both styles of narration. I checked in the Marine Life of the Pacific Northwest and it does look like a Rhinoceros crab! Such an amazing find! Thank you for sharing!
Yeah no problem. And thanks! The Rhinosorous crab is super intriguing. Apparently they were hermit crabs not long ago. They still have a super soft abdomen and other hermit crab-like traits.
Like 53 Biting my tongue to not type till video is over, but I'm 12:18 in, and you made a very good point....these clams/oysters/muscles are not in sand, so really no purge time needed. Great video, the narrating as you go, seems more like we're with you watching. Less editing time needed too haha. Ya, strap the 360 to your belt, and use sporadically lol. Personally love the regular view. Cheers 🍻 Don't mind the reviews one bit, but this s**t rocks! I am very thankful to see the urchin population is low there, wonder what's keeping them at bay! I personally would harvest, then smash to feed the other fish hahahaha 😂
Haha yeah dude. Hmm, not sure. It's pretty lifeless over all, besides some perch and a few greenling. Lots of bivalves but lifeless in terms of fish. It's RCA so it's a little surprising. And yeah, no purge time made the cookout possible. Otherwise we would have had to wait. It's a great spot for that reason alone. And agreed man, the Insta has a time, place and purpose. It'll be a once in a while camera, I should play around with it out of the water a little more than I have though. Thanks for the comments like always my friend!
Damn that looks delicious! I was in Tofino and Victoria last winter and had Ling Cod fish and chips for the first time. They are my favourite now. Way better than the more expensive halibut in my opinion. I still haven't tried sea urchin but I really want to.
Awesome dude. Yeah, lingcod is one of my favorite fish too. I think fish can be like brand names, people often pay more just for the name haha. Urchin is really good in small amounts. I like making sea urchin pasta which is super tasty. Like a seafood pasta sauce.
Im going to be coming down from up north in February for three weeks. Im looking forward to doing a bunch of fishing, fossil hunting and exploring the island with my dogs. If you see me driving around around with the decals on my truck or me filming, feel free to say high and introduce yourself.
I've never used a real weight belt. I dive about once a week in Victoria using a bag of rocks just like you said. It works great and I don't really see the need to buy a belt.
Oh that's cool. So proven success! For me, it's definitely a good contingency if I forget my belt. I think having my hands free so I can film but if your diving on a budget power to you!
Haha I do from time to time. Depends on where though. I'm using pretty generic, like East or West coast on the island. That was all filmed around Nanaoose Bay though.
I teach safety programs. I was at CNRL Horizon teaching mobile work platform and Albian teaching skid steer. I used to work up north full time but I only fly up on a need to basis now.
Yeah me too. Just lots of work. I can't eat Dungeness for some reason, I've developed an intolerance/allergy to it. I can eat other crab types though. Not sure why.
Just practice! It's more about relaxation and meditation. Slowing your heart rate down and being super relaxed before you take your final breath before diving. Taking a freediving course is the best option if you plan on diving.
Sweet video! I’m jealous of the viz and cookout looked 🔥
Thanks dude! Yeah, the visibility is getting much better and can't beat fresh seafood!
Thanks for another inspiring video!
Thanks dude! Get out and see it for yourself. It's amazing.

like the voice over thanks beautiful scenery. Wish I could join you in that feast.wow
Thanks! Happy you enjoyed it. The cookout was awesome and a little sporadic. Definitely made the dive and probably video too. Super fun!
fun to watch, my kiddos and I love watching for the sealife

Love the harvest. Your solo stove looks like a stellat idea!

Simple cook fire...
Pot fits on it.. beaches have wood lol.. and your not leaving a "fire pit" on the beach only leftover coal.

Unscripted is much better. Regardless we’re gonna binge watch your videos! Keep pumping out the awesome content!
Thanks! I appreciate the views and feedback. I agree, unscripted seems to be the consensus.

lovely area. where did you film this?
Nanoose bay on Vancouver Island. Super peaceful area.
What do you do in Fort Mac?
I teach safety courses. Went up to Horizon and Albian.
