First gens had turbo recalls and bad pcv issues. Many cx7s and speed 6s shared the issues (same engine). The second generation sorted this stuff out. Gen won is def the more subtle, fast hatch but you should be checking compression before you buy one of them.
I’ll have owned my 2013 for 5 years next month. I love that car. Cool fact. It’s never once not started even when the battery had 9 volts still started. All the electrics were going haywire but it still started up.
I just got one yesterday 🤓🤓 I see it as a big upgrade from all my 90’s Hondas that I’ve owned, for sure. I’m so happy just like the big smile on my car 🚘
The big problem is that the stock fuel pump, even on stock tune, will lean out under heavy throttle. So, long pulls will cause lots of damage to the engine. This is remidied by hi pressure fuel pumps, or just high pressure internals. I honestly cant beleive you didnt mention this as its a well known achilles heel of the mazdaspeed 3. Its a life support mod most people do as soon as they buy one.
@@FitmentIndustries they are wonderful cars and very slept on but i hope you pin this or another comment to let everyone know what to do if they get one. You can squeeze a solid 400hp on stock internals and embarass a lotta hotbois in ur smileyboi with just a tune.
@@nickkite6418 yes sure 0-100 doesn't really matter for cars in those power classes in my opinion since it's always smth about 4.5-6 seconds but a stock Mazda 3 mps will never beat a 335i, if u do a drag start with mps u probably have extreme wheelspin til 3rd gear since the car can't get the 260 horses to the street properly
I got a speed 6 in excellent condition from a guy who bought it and then got deployed. The guy before him however made this thing an all out track ripper. All stage 2, big brake kit, stage 2 clutch. And he had all the mods installed by a pro so there’s records of it. And to make it better being a track car, the interior is as close to flawless as it gets. I’m suuuper happy
Thats what i'm talking about!!!! My 2012 speed3 just hit 60K miles had it for about 3 years no really huge issues besides a blown tire! ( Kinda my fault ) 😅
I got an ms3. And pros: Very easy to mod and achive high HP Brakes are massive! You will be ok wit upgraded pads and stock calipers and rotors on 500 hp. Has bose sound system Has automatic headlights and windshield wipers. Adjustable headlights ( they move up and down with a push of a button) Great sound! Reliable Fast Fun Easy to drive It has so much! I bought mine for 4k and i dont regret it. Keep in mind its a Ford, almost the same engine found in the focus rs, and ecoboost, although i think the ms3 engine is more reliable. Also k04 turbo sucks. So a bnr s2 or 3 is totally worth your money.
Lemme fix that for ya real quick. Cons: - Factory "premium" Bose sound system These systems are crap when brand new and utter shit when old. All the speakers' surrounds deteriorate in to dust which causes them to sound crunchy/unlistenable and for an upgraded product the staging/imaging leaves a lot to be desired, especially when they wanna charge you more for it over the normal system. Oh, and this goes for all manufacturers and models that decide to use Bose for their upgraded stereo systems.
The largest concern on buying used would be the previous owners mod path. Also VERY IMPORTANT upgrade fuel pump first as the oem spring rate cannot support high boost fuel requirements. After the you can run 22+psi ;)
I really liked that this was one of the first cars they gave you on the Need For Speed MMO from a few years ago (I still miss it. Reply if you played it or remember it).
I just got a built mazdaspeed3 luckily… it has aftermarket turbo and a bunch of corksport mods, cpe catless downpipe, CPE triton cat back exhaust and the AM turbo is a Corksport CST4 turbo

Fun fact- my first car was a ford escape 2006, 5 speed manual. First gen escapes were surprisingly quick, as they made in collab with Mazda, so many of the internals like the wiper lever, headlight switch, and 2.3l in line 4cyl engine (non turbo'd in the escape and tribute, though) are the same as second gen MS3's. first gen escapes were also built on the ford focus platform, which has notoriously good handling and is super fun to drive. I still have my escape and its almost as fun as the MS3- but im very surprised more people dont mod first gen escapes. Theyre like an ugly cross between a focus ST and Ms3. Both borrowed components from it
I've got a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 that I've had since 2012. I used it as a daily until 2014. It has 63,000 miles on it now (bought it with 19,000). I love that car, and was told that I'll never sell it. If you think that it's a fun car stock (and it is), they're even more fun when modded right.
@Bryce Czirr thats not true at all lol. I know multiple people who traded in their focus st or focus rs and got a fiesta. They are way more fun to drive because they are so tiny and light you can just chuck them around!
@Bryce Czirr the look of them kinda grows on you haha i didn't like them at first either, but after seeing some with mods, I started liking them. Miatas are great too for sure!
I am a huge fan of MazdaSpeed 3 (or how we call it here - MPS xD). I got one for about 60-70k mileage (in about ~7 years or so). It was first gen, great car, not too beaten by the first owner.
I had the 1st gen Mazdaspeed 3 and loved that car!!!
So if I go too the 12:30pm service, I must be double hungover! Great piece Bro👍Luv my Speed3...
"So you want a Mazdaspeed 3..." No not really but I'm gonna watch this video because Alex's antics are so damned entertaining.
I just got one yesterday 🤓🤓 I see it as a big upgrade from all my 90’s Hondas that I’ve owned, for sure. I’m so happy just like the big smile on my car 🚘
Lmao, whoever made this video used a 2012-2013 facelifted 2.0 Mazda3 when talking about the MS3 as the cover photo 😂
Thanks to y’all I got my first speed, first turbo car, first manual big dubs thanks guys 🙏🏽
Great insight on that! 🤘
@@FitmentIndustries they are wonderful cars and very slept on but i hope you pin this or another comment to let everyone know what to do if they get one. You can squeeze a solid 400hp on stock internals and embarass a lotta hotbois in ur smileyboi with just a tune.
Finally another video of this underrated beast! Can't wait to get mine when I get my license!
You should do “So you want a 335i”
N54 life
I;ve already beat one of those with my Mazdaspeed3
@@tomlee3294 stock? Never.
@@melvinschneider4209 Idk, my mk7 GTI will pull with a 335i until like 75-80. Then the beamer starts to pull away
Can u do: So you want a Nissan Sentra SER SPEC V? A lot of people sleep on this car but it's actually a really fun car with a lot of potential
Kraoking XYZ I been asking this for 4 weeks😂. I have a 2010 B16 Nissan Sentra SE-R SPEC-V 😊
You guys just made my day. Finally the dopest hot hatch. Best channel on RUclips.
Ayee!! Thank you! 🙏🏼
Alex: “The best part of August: the weather isn’t 100 degrees”
Floridans: “can’t relate”
Also please do a 335/435 episode! ☺️
Something is on the way! 😬🙏🏼
love my speed3. Had it for 5 years and put 100k on it with no issues. Clutch just went out on it so it’s time to get a performance clutch for it
Thats what i'm talking about!!!! My 2012 speed3 just hit 60K miles had it for about 3 years no really huge issues besides a blown tire! ( Kinda my fault ) 😅
I got an ms3.
And pros:
Very easy to mod and achive high HP
Brakes are massive! You will be ok wit upgraded pads and stock calipers and rotors on 500 hp.
Has bose sound system
Has automatic headlights and windshield wipers.
Adjustable headlights ( they move up and down with a push of a button)
Great sound!
Reliable
Fast
Fun
Easy to drive
It has so much!
Cons:
- Factory "premium" Bose sound system
These systems are crap when brand new and utter shit when old.
@@ryanrthrockmorton humm, okay i see your point
The largest concern on buying used would be the previous owners mod path. Also VERY IMPORTANT upgrade fuel pump first as the oem spring rate cannot support high boost fuel requirements. After the you can run 22+psi ;)
I really liked that this was one of the first cars they gave you on the Need For Speed MMO from a few years ago (I still miss it. Reply if you played it or remember it).
Thank you guys so much for doing this!
I live in Orlando, I see these cars everywhere, a lot more than the other hatches u named
I just got a built mazdaspeed3 luckily… it has aftermarket turbo and a bunch of corksport mods, cpe catless downpipe, CPE triton cat back exhaust and the AM turbo is a Corksport CST4 turbo
Bought a 1st gen and did a tune on it and it’s pretty darn fun lmaoooo
hope you put HPFP internals in it too.
You don’t need HPFP unless you have other supporting mods. I have an 08 and it’s running great with a few mods and a tune
@@Motivate_My_Morning ok. I wasnt part of the ms3 community for years... I dont know what I'm saying.
connor fortenberrry have fun with a blown engine
@@h3llb1lly889 Clearly you don't. Like he said, you don't need them unless you're running supporting mods that require a HPFP internal!
Picked mine up for 500 bucks. Had some engine issues. Fixed em now running into some turbo issues, hopefully get em taken care of from selling the wheels that came with it and potentiality a car that cost me nothing but blood sweat amd tears, you know the best kind
I just got mine 3 days ago this is crazy
I have a gen 1 mazdaspeed 3 and I love it. They do have a few problems but every performance car does and for a few thousand in mods and tuning it can punch pretty high above its’ weight
So you want a Lexus is 250/350 please.
Bought my 2010 Mazdaspeed in 2013. I have been in love ever since! I had a 2008 Evo before I bought it and I love it wayyy more.
Preciate that mazdaspeed 3 love.
Thank you for finally doing the Speed3!! ✌🏽Dope video!
No one:
Speed3: :D
Both borrowed components from it
You gotta do one on the Lexus IS300/ Toyota Altezza.
I own a second generation Mazdaspeed 3, love it. Thanks for the video!
Same!! 😂
“So you have no money in the bank because of your car addiction” 🎼dah dah dah tuh tuh tuh dah dah dah tah tah tah 🎼
Picked a Gen1 up about 2 months ago, I love it
The "alex.fi.exe stopped working" was classic.
I just picked up a 2009 with very few tasteful mods and all the stock stuff in a box. I love it and it is very quick. feels like a 13 sec car.
you did the srt4 ... so you want a Cobalt SS?
I've got a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 that I've had since 2012. I used it as a daily until 2014. It has 63,000 miles on it now (bought it with 19,000). I love that car, and was told that I'll never sell it. If you think that it's a fun car stock (and it is), they're even more fun when modded right.
I see one at a dealer it’s a 2010 speed 3 it’s clean for 6grand I wanna get it but it’s gonna be my first car and I don’t know how to drive stick
@@kidsavage1255 This is definitely not the car to learn how to drive stick in.
I know you guys already did a focus st video, but...
SO YOU WANT A FIESTA ST
Fiesta st owners are pretty articulate. Have not met and idiot fist owner to this day. Bone head focus st owners are everywhere. Im being serious btw.
Curtis Dickson don't get me wrong, love the jelly bean owners, but the FiST is so much better lol
Love the little go-kart
@@shen2790 agreed they are an absolute blast to drive
@Bryce Czirr thats not true at all lol. I know multiple people who traded in their focus st or focus rs and got a fiesta. They are way more fun to drive because they are so tiny and light you can just chuck them around!
@Bryce Czirr the look of them kinda grows on you haha i didn't like them at first either, but after seeing some with mods, I started liking them. Miatas are great too for sure!
I learn more about history here than school
I am a huge fan of MazdaSpeed 3 (or how we call it here - MPS xD). I got one for about 60-70k mileage (in about ~7 years or so). It was first gen, great car, not too beaten by the first owner. I love it. Had to sell it, unfortunately, because I moved to other country, and then I wanted to buy one here, but decided to go for H. Civic Type R FN2 Champ-White cause it was in PERFECT condition. Now I love this Civic as well and still thinking of getting one more hot-hatch. Like there is never enough, right? I dunno. x)
Love my gen1 MS3, shocked looks from GTI and focus ST owners in the regular 😂
They're all pretty much the same car
@@michaelu7900 yeeeeah, no. Not at all. Like all sedans are the same, like all rangers/hilux/bt-50s etc are the same? I'd take the ms3 over anything other than a modern mercedes amg a45, but as I said before our new price is $85,000 for that... A gen 2 ms3 is 15-20k... Hmmm 65k in performance mods in the ms3 is going to trash the living hell out of the merc, but sure won't get you the superficial ladies I'm your car when they just look at the bonnet badge. But all the guys will be nodding quietly on the side to the smart ms3 owner.
As a gen Juan speed owner I’ve have been waiting for this video 😂❤️
can you guys do a "so you want a 335i (or n54)" PLEASE
Ay ay, thanks for actually makin' it, I remember offering to make it!
So you want an Acura TL
They should bring the Mazdaspeed6 back. Granted, it'll probably be automatic trans only because of the market it would be competing in. I have a bias as a former Mazdaspeed6 owner though...
Honestly, any MazdaSpeed car would be great 3,6 or if they really want to make a cool car a Miata
I love my speed3:) Black Mica 2010 Full bolt on brings on so many smiles
