Pizza was invented as a way to use leftover dough (for bread), veggies and cheese on communal breadbasket day where the village lighted the community oven. At the end of baking day, last leftover wood from te pile was burned to get it extra hot and village brought their leftovers to make a shared pizza meal
We never had a stove like this, but I much prefer making my own pizza. The goal is to make it entirely out of things we produced ourselves, in a bread oven in a hearth I've made myself, but maybe I'm just extra. Food made in the slow "old fashioned way" is so much more appealing to me. Then again, I feel that way about just about everything. Slow living is the way for me!
I ALWAYS add salt, garlic powder and poultry seasoning to my pizza dough. Even if the crust doesn't turn out the way I want it to, the flavor is amazing.
Thank you for being you! You always bring a sparky kind of joy to your videos, and today we could all use some relief from the drama that can be living.
Anne, thanks for another great video showing your skills making delicious looking pizza. Yes, relationships and being close together around a fire makes for great conversations. Blessings to you and Adam. Merry Christmas.
This made me wistful. My dad used to work cooking on a 17th century wood oven making cooking and bread for customers. My cousins have an organic farm, milking and raising eggs and chickens and veg just like you. My dad passed away last year and I live abroad. This was a lovely video but reminded me of my family! I have emailed it to my cousins. Thanks!
This is every reason I LOVE cooking for my family. Creating memories with my kids, using the food that I worked hard to grow in our garden, and enjoying sitting down and having the family time together over good food!
Man she said "Adam of no trades" & I felt that right in my soul 😅 Now I know why the porch has a hole in it that only needs 4 screws...love you sis good luck with the grow lights ❤
I make quick dough all the time as a mom of 4… (with a baby) and I just made my own homemade pizza with my own homegrown organic zucchini and squash (they taste like mushrooms to me)!!! I don’t know how I just found you but I LOVE cooking over a wood fire too! ❤🎉
Anne, I'm left handed also, but I never realized just how much my right hand did every day till I nearly lost it in a work accident. I was 35 when that happened and it took a year and a half of therapy after five surgeries; every bit of the no knowing, the agonies of exercises that seemed to advance way too slowly. I was worth all of that in the end. Thirty plus years later it stil workds without major complaint and I have been a tool user all of my work life. You will get command of your now lobster claw; use it to the extent you can, just to keep the flexibility up, don't sweat the power stuff yet- it's where you can bring further delays into it. If you cam pick up a base ball, then do it, do it teen times every hour. When is comes time to squeeze, start with pretty mushy stuff and work towards the stiffer, start with each mew level slowly and keep up your repititions with the softer stuff. Six months of that and your attitude and you will be able to pop a tennis ball if that is what you want to go for. But you will not be ready for that for a good minute of three. Stay out of arm slings as much as you can- it will erode flexibilty. Do flexibility drills as a "nervous habit" if you hand is not feeling tired. Challenge it a bit at a time- if what ever it is causes pain, drop back a notch or two and ease up there. And nerves in your fingers are over rated; I have been a plumber most of my adult life; by thirty I wasn't able to feel temperature past this is warm and this way to warm. I learned not to stick my right hand fingers into something till I knew, Btw, my grandma told me this ; "The burned hand teaches best". There is a lot of truth to that, if you survive it. But every day, do some thing to help that hand rejoin your daily work schedule. Always pulling for a winner! Fred PS; You are already back to the lute. Play when you can, put it down when fatigue sets in. You will do this, like so many other things. Love Ya, you are a wonder! F
You have the coolest hoodies, I swear. The oversized hood scarf thing seems like an awesome idea. As a tall skinny guy, I’m always on the lookout for clothing that fits well while retaining its functionality. And that hoodie looks like something I need!
17:15..." Tikki-Torches at Twilight ,for the girls at the bar ; all the guys from the office ,are throwing up in their cars..."...David Lindley .😃😘...Your hand seems to be moving well ! , how ya feelin' ?
Anne, thank you for sharing your energy and your knowledge. It's been a long time since I've been inspired by a RUclips influencer. Actually I've never been inspired by anyone on RUclips or any type of social media.
Nice ! A video on your wood fired oven details in the building would be interesting . Lots of ways but all are interesting . God Bless !!! John 14:9 KJV Bible !!!
Really loved this one! My tip for you? I like your oak fire management tool, but buy a cheap drywall tape knife (get one of the wide ones) and stick a long handle on it. It's The Shizzle for moving wood and coals around in the oven.
Every time I watch your videos think, where does she get her hoodies? The way the hood wraps around your neck looks so comfortable and warm... what the heck brand are they?
I'm getting to get the dough close and the sauce close, just not at 100% quite yet. Looks like your hand is getting better and I hope it will get back to fully healed for you. God bless y'all and keep growing!
Such a lovely video! I love the Ooni pizza oven we bought for the same reasons you state. I wish I had the time to build a brick oven - and intend to do so at some point - but we decided to try out something ready-made first to see if it is worth the effort. And it definitely is!!
My dad made us smoked pizza a few times as a kid. It was rare since it had to be a combo of good weather and pizza night and we had to have spare time to set up the smoker and more time to smoke the pizza, but gosh darn it was the best pizza I’ve ever had
What I really want to know about your farm life is what brand jacket are you wearing? I have always felt cold around my neck and just can't find a jacket with that tall neck protection. You see, farming is more then the livestock.
I've been making homemade pizza for decades after I realized it could be healthy, inexpensive, and delicious compared to commercial alternatives. I don't use meat or cheese because excluding these things on my doctor's orders reversed my heart disease, prediabetes, acne, and autoimmune disease. Instead, I grind wheat in my kitchen and load the delicious whole wheat-garlic-herb deep dish crust with sliced tomatoes, steamed greens, roasted garlic, caramelized onions, sliced mushrooms, diced zucchini, steamed artichoke hearts, chickpeas, minced jalapenos, sliced red bell peppers, fresh basil & oregano, and avocado slices. It is so delicious. I love feeding my family wholesome, homegrown, home-prepared food.
I'm the same, you can see when the dough is right. Life is too short for measuring things. Edit: If you have a beadmaker it will have a dough setting to make things easy
Anne, I love the Tiki Hut Idea! I might build one of those on my farm when I retire and buy one. 😁😋 Pizza looks tasty! Might need a wood fired Pizza oven as well!
Anne, look into turpentine healing.. Dr. Jennifer daniels.. I'm a soil food web grower.. I'm a wood worker, I grow mushrooms, I carve swimbaits for fishing, I make compost, I have chickens, I tie flies for fishing, I make knives, I paint, I draw, and I don't know what I want to focus on! Lol.. I get paid as a carpenter, but I can't stop trying to master everything! You seem to have the same problem/blessing..
I’m with you on the Parmesan Cheese!!🧀🧀🧀 hmmm balsamic vinegar on pizza… will have to try that! I usually just dipped the crust into balsamic vinegar and oil but hadn’t thought to put it on the whole thing. I too had a childhood trauma from a haircut. 😜 oh, and if you like pickles go to payne county rust website and their pickles… soooo good! Bubbies pickles are sooo good too!
I always shoot from the hip when it comes to making food. A quarter cup her a half teaspoon there drives me nuts. Round off the measurements to taste and enjoy yourself.
I just stumbled upon your channel and after one video I subscribed! I hope you see this and know while I am a carpenter the message for you and your young beautiful self is, , , , PLEASE STAY OUT IF THE SUN!!!! If you want the details just gimme a thumps up and I will expound in detail.
Nope, he and his best friend made it together. He has a real eye for decoration, and the tiki theme is close to his heart because he grew up in Hawaii. I helped facilitate a few of the projects that required tools, but they did most everything else themselves.
Oh wow Ann, i could just eat a slice of that pizza you made. But i don't think it's a good idea as I'm watching your video at 4am 😢. I'm really sorry to hear about your mum's health situation and I hope that you are able to give your mum tonnes of love and hugs going forward with the horrible situation you're all going through!!! Love from the UK . As always Ann 💯% 👍 🇬🇧. P.s it's a age thing, i too had the pudding bowl cut as a small child 😢😅
I have found that a lot of the fuss and fluff surrounding a lot of recipes is just not worth it. We love good home made food. Our home made food is better than most restaurants anymore. I seriously want a wood fired oven. I’ll have to get one built when we have our forever home.
I totally agree with you slow cooking philosophie 😉
Sharing pizzas like that is just a fantastic idea !
Thanks Anne !

" Leave it to rise 10 to 20 minutes… or as long as you forget..."
😂 That's so true
Yes! This is why Anne is amazing.
You are a Marvel, Miss Anne. 😊 And Mr Adam clearly has skills too ❤
Haha. I grew up with the bowl cut too but old so it was the "Dorothy Hamill" cut back then. You're an inspiration. Thanks for everything.
Lovely warm video even when it is dark and rain outside. Your sister gave the best gift...of cherished memories, happy and sweet.
I am the most DIY person I personally know I think… but you are so exponentially far beyond my minuscule DIY-ness it’s mind blowing!!!!🙏
The photo book is such an amazing gift!

Your endless enthusiasm and abundant talent and wisdom is incredible. I love your approach to life! Feliz Navidad 🎄🎄🎄🎄
Fantastic change of pace, and so nice to see Rigby still living his best life!
I ALWAYS add salt, garlic powder and poultry seasoning to my pizza dough. Even if the crust doesn't turn out the way I want it to, the flavor is amazing.

Anne, I really enjoyed this video. It is wonderful to see family interaction and celebration!
love slow cooking..we do homemade pizza night twice a month. hopefully soon we will built a clay oven on our homestead ..love it!

I was just thinking a few days ago, I wonder if Anne is going to build a pizza oven at this house.
She is impossibly cute.
Anne, thank you for sharing your energy and your knowledge. It's been a long time since I've been inspired by a RUclips influencer. Actually I've never been inspired by anyone on RUclips or any type of social media.

Awesome warming of the spirit family resurrection of the good ole' times. I love your pizza oven and love and faith in life.
I'm getting to get the dough close and the sauce close, just not at 100% quite yet. Looks like your hand is getting better and I hope it will get back to fully healed for you. God bless y'all and keep growing!
YES! I too have a hole in my deck covered by a chair! Does not everyone have a hole in their deck waiting on four screws and a piece of scrap wood?
Such a lovely video! I love the Ooni pizza oven we bought for the same reasons you state. I wish I had the time to build a brick oven - and intend to do so at some point - but we decided to try out something ready-made first to see if it is worth the effort. And it definitely is!!
Beautiful video.
My mother used to put uncooked rice in her salt shaker to keep the salt from clumping.
One of your best vides. Food brings people together and when everyone can be a part of the process, the food and company is all the better. -Cheers
Love your energy Anne. Keep it up!
merry Christmas Anne
Merry Christmas to you and your family all the best

Yummo! I’m nurturing some dough for my first proper wood fired pizza tonight 😃
Oh golly…this video and you…well mostly you were so funny and charming. I’ve always loved your videos, but this one was special. Thanks, Anne.

Olives on a pizza are the only way to go!
Dang, now I want pizza; I like mine with onions, mushrooms, and black olives.
I'm the same, you can see when the dough is right. Life is too short for measuring things.

Where'd the pizza oven come from? Did you make it?
First like and comment! :O Anne, I love your videos, you are a constant source of encouragement!
Adam’s hut is spectacular. Was there a video or plans for it?
Nope, he and his best friend made it together. He has a real eye for decoration, and the tiki theme is close to his heart because he grew up in Hawaii. I helped facilitate a few of the projects that required tools, but they did most everything else themselves.
Really great channel.,

Probably, that's when they discovered you were/are allergic. Your sister would remember that 😂
