Been hunting on a lease for a few years with a guy that’s been using an electric sxs. When you need to get out quickly and quietly this is absolutely the best. I’ve had one on my list for years but they are expensive compared to the gas’s counterparts. However less maintenance is a big selling point. I’m excited for the future of these.
They can charge that because there's no competition. I expect prices will adjust once others enter that segment. That said, the prices of all side by sides are crazy.

I guess with the side by side, 80 miles is enough? I don't do that yet, but it's a hobby I'd like to get into. The one thing I'd say gas has an advantage with is... when you're out of gas, you can easily bring another can or two with you. With a battery you gotta go back home or find a charging station out in the mountains. How often is that a problem?
One of the best parts is that you can park it for a few years, then grab it and go without worrying about the gas or oil going bad or the belts drying\cracking, with the tire condition being the only thing you really need to keep an eye on.
Nice EVs. One suggestion on your load-out. What you do works but better to run the SxS tie-down straps straight forward and straight back, not crisscrossed. Also, connect as close to the center of the wheels as possible. That way the machine can bounce on the suspension without stressing/loosening the straps.
While I'm impressed with the capabilities of an EV side by side, I think I'll let the early adopters pay the exorbitant $37k. I'm happy to wait for them to come down to a more reasonable price. As it stands now, you're not getting double the capabilities but you're paying about twice the cost of an equivalent gas model. Those economics just don't make any sense.
The argument still is that eventually batteries degrade over time, something like a Honda sxs could last a couple decades easily with regular maintenance where as an ev likely won't.
After reading the comments, people are just tired of high prices. Manufacturers stop, just stop asking too much for your product. We have enough of greedy dealers out here in the real world. 37k for a fixed up golf cart is just to much. I know the gas version is not much cheaper but in reality they are also over priced…. If more people would quit going into stupid debt…. This madness will eventually come to an end…
Could you imagine having to charge a SxS for 3 hours? You couldn't even go anywhere, I can hit any gas station and be on my way in 5 minutes. This is an over powered golf cart.
I was on Dude I Love My Ride, and we did that trail in November with the red Forester. That last section around 25min mark was scary, as the whole trail was snowy/icy and the water pits were icy and just as deep! Awesome vid!!
The price is insane. We paid that for a new model three just last year. I've had several SxSs and currently have a 24 KRX 1000. Sport machine with 22" of wheel travel and it was almost half the price of this Ev Ranger. I just don't get the market for these other than avid hunters with DEEP pockets. Most hunters don't need much more than a golf cart with 4wd and some decent suspension. Even the base model of this is really expensive compared to ICE models.
For the cost it makes no sense to get an EV truck that will never perform as good, You can get a better truck for the price of the side-by-side that can actually tow 500 miles or more on one fill up.
Great video guys. To the EV fans, explain to me how you charge your EV ATV at your cabin that doesn't have electricity for a extended weekend? And who can afford a $35k+ toy...
As someone who off roads in the Colorado mountains and grew up riding dirt bikes. I can’t fathom the side by side market for off roading (EV or not) To “ride” a SXS you need a truck, a trailer, and then oh yeah 20-30-40k for the actual SXS. Okay so maybe you live on a farm or buy/sell cars for fun so you can justify and use the truck and trailer for yourself. Sweet. You own those to. Now do you buy a Jeep? An LR3? A Taco? 4Runner? Samurai? Rocky? 4 dirt bikes? Heck a used JL fits in the upper end of the budget there. And you decide “you know what I need? Something that isn’t road legal and must be trailered to my fun site”? Just doesn’t add up. SXS’s are for rich folks
I definitely would not see myself spending that kind of money on the electric ranger, but it is pretty cool how quiet this one is. Gas is still the route I would choose, but it is fascinating seeing how far electric vehicles are getting capability wise.
Pretty cool video being that I love when you guys get up in the mountains & Forests. That Polaris is insanely capable out there. I’d be curious to know what the kw/hr consumption on the Tesla translates to on the wallet for this trip. Pretty cool though that on the return trip you used less than 20% of your range. Neat technology even though I can’t afford it!
I've seen a few these Tesla truck videos, I'm not being negative but a lot of them make excuses for it. Yeah it only tows for 90 miles but there's a hill, or elevation, or etc etc. I just don't think they are where they need/should be yet. And I am a little concerned where all the batteries are going go to when used up.
Who knew the price of going green and clean would be double or more the price of going noisy and dirty. The price of the batteries and associated tech still has a long way to go in affordability.
I think for people who like to lease vehicles all the time an EV is a good option because it's not long enough for the battery to take a dump and you can keep leasing newer option vehicles.
This whole concept is just a joke. People like the noise SXS's make. Nobody wants them quiet. Also 50% of your range to go 50 miles is an absolute disaster. 😂
