5:20 Bawri Mansion, Dhanketi. Those good old days when my father used to drive us through shillong towards silchar on our Maruti 800 back in 99. I remember picking and collecting the pine cones, stopping by the woods to take a stroll or accompanying my parents to Bara Bazaar to shop for fresh veggies. Listening to "As long as you love me" by BSB, watching the then 20 year olds wearing black jackets and riding rx100s and wishing to grow up soon. Ah god if i had just stayed young.

Actually, it wasnt that the times were golden on those days. Its just that on those days, you were young as a kid and were free from all the worldly tension as an adult.

Thank you for the video,I remember the roads were spacious and you could literally drive your car in 3rd or 4th gear around laitmukhrah as traffic was sparse.I also noticed the owner of Akashi book depot walking back towards his shop.I wonder if he is still there.I visited India recently (after early 2000) and spent some time in Shillong-It has changed in volumes especially the population and air pollution (too many cars).Old was truly Gold!

My family took me to my first Shillong trip in the late 90's. I was probably three or four. I dont remember much, just that , the experience was pleasant.
I was born in Shillong in 1960 and studied in St. Edmund's from which I passed out(did not faint or pass away)in 1976. Love the Shillong of old. Used to have cheap balieh kiad(white stuff) worth 5 bucks for shiteng(bilor) with beef(doh masi)fry at Hills restaurent in Laitumkhrah. Those were the days.
I love Shillong that I was use to see and hear and feel. Time flies. You just never know what will happen next. Those were the days that you will never forget.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sad to say that nothing much has changed. Just new buildings and new cars but no serious developments. The rustic theme is starting to work in favour of a govt. That under performs
I was in my Kindergarten in late 80s when I first visited Shillong with my family and stayed in Tourist Lodge (it's no more there now) near Assam House. There were very less taxis, less people. Well, people walked alot until mid 2000s, and the climate much colder and air fresher. At least I remember this as a 5 year old then. From 2007 or so, Guwahati changed drastically and Shillong from 2014-2015 but it's still gradual.

Takes me back to those beautiful times with lots of friends not fb friends, lots of time to sing, giggle, visit friends and relatives, travel by bus, etc... pcos, landline, doordarshan, ambassador, local radio programs, Christmas carols right from November, Christmas tree and yes, Christmas cards, etc... etc... Good ol days, golden days and memories... I'd give anything just to get one day to experience again those good old 90s.
Less cars no traffic jam, no congestion. City buses and Ambassador taxis plying in the street. I remember that time i am a school student studying in class 6 at pynthorumkhrah school. Green field of Golflink is very clean and free from plastics and dumping garbage...but now shillong has lost it's natural beauty and development is only new buildings and new cars. I want to give a lot of thank to this fellow who make this video.
This just goes to show that we had less development in terms of the infrastructure and the roads we had back then are the same now, we have a beautiful state, sad to say it's not planned, had it been that way, we could've made it more beautiful😢

Some officially declared advanced tribe towns in Nagaland have not yet reached even a quarter level of what Shillong was in the 90's in terms of development and infrastructure. Let's say ....it's been more than 2 decades now.
There are so many young people from Nagaland here in Shillong. Generally they are really bad in studies. They are really into fashion and partying. Not saying it's bad to have fun but it seems most of them are here just to have fun.

Aha 90s Shillong. good to see my old school building St. Anthony's High School. used to walk those corridors and that season when black-yellow catterpillars would hang down. and the area around Cathedral and Bawri mansion. I remember that book stall very well. and next to it there was a paan, cigarette and toffeee shop. I was in class 4 in 1990. Those blue city buses wah. I left the town in 2008. Not sure how mad the traffic is there now.

May I know the level of pollution there in shillong in comparison to other capital cities of other states, as I am going to settle there, may be by sept. 2020 in my opinion due to rains all the time there won't be much pollution.

@@yashmakhija8888 Pollution level is Great at minimal level. The rain is constantly washing the city clean. So , It is still the Finest and awesome place to Stay. But The Traffic is Crazy on normal days( Before Covid) it would be advice to stay near your work place . And if you do stay in Shillong, Please throw your garbage in the Dustbin. This is not Delhi or Mumbai . And If you dont follow rules , you will run out of Luck.

I don't think it's in 2000 - 2002 cuz by that time, there were very less ambassador cars and jeeps. The video shows more ambassadors and jeeps and a bit of Tata Sumos....so, I think it should be 1997/1998/1999.
In 1990 I'was in class III and on 2007 finished class xv so Romantic.hynrei ki ne ki briew Kimdei jong ki riewlum don't make us romantic.wat kti ia ngi.
At first I thought it was just a filtered video of the present Shillong... But then I saw ambassadors and good old Bus Smit 😂. Not much has changed though since then.
Traffic jam problem was there in Shillong even in those days , traffic jam was greatest problem in 90s ,I graduated in 1994 and left Shillong and could not find time to visit Shillong again .But in those days also why we walked from Jinking to Anthony's college ,that was fue to traffic jam .

Shillong has changed so much! Now it’s bumper to bumper traffic and definitely not as pristine as it definitely was anymore.
Even in 90s , traffic jam was greatest problem of Shillong ,we use to walk from Jinking to St. Anthony college due to traffic jam .

So much less traffic back then.. now the traffic has increased ten folds. Traffic jam everywhere even in the suburbs of upper Shillong.
Traffic jam problem was there in Shillong even in those days , traffic jam was greatest problem in 90s ,I graduated in 1994 and left Shillong and could not find time to visit Shillong again .But in those days also why we walked from Jinking to Anthony's college ,that was fue to traffic jam .
The only things that haven't changed are the position of the foot-paths 😁😁😁

Feel great to be 90 s kids still remember I used to play cricket on mawkhar road when I was still a kid....n we use to roam freely on pb an motphran road like a Boss those were the days we will cherish forever
