I think that maybe he was a little solemn during this interview cus knowing he has been very thoughtful of others (or attested to that in other interviews) he may have been worried for Jared (the shoulder incident happened that day). I think usually he is very kind, and a bit more forgiving to his audience.
Jensen handled that Destiel question very well. I'm not a shipper at all, be it Destiel or Wincest (by the way, Wincest? EW). I understand that fans want representation, but for me I think it's sad that men cannot be portrayed to be having deep, meaningful, loving relationships that have nothing to do with sex or romance. The men of Supernatural are strong, complex characters and they have profound, complex, intimate relationships (friendships, brotherhood) and that's what makes the show amazing. I do not understand why those relationships MUST then be gay simply because they're emotional bonds between men. It plays into a horrible, chauvinistic stereotype that men who portray emotions or deep bonds MUST be gay. That's not fair.
Mandy Cummins Amen to that! Shipping bugs me so much sometimes. I don't understand the appeal at all, and I will never get why fans like to turn a meaningful friendship between two guys (or girls, or a guy and a girl, or what have you -- my reaction is the same for all) into something sexual/romantic. It seems completely pointless to me, and I for one find it much sweeter and more touching when two characters are able to form emotional bonds on the same level as the Supernatural characters without it having anything to do with romantic or sexual motives. If shipping makes someone happy, I suppose I have no right to tell them to cut it out, but for me at least: these guys are friends. True friends. Family, even. That's one of the main reasons I love this show so dang much, and I'm gonna let it stay that way.
So true. I don't mind shippers, but when they start accusing poor Jensen of being a homophobic, merely by denying untrue opinions of him, Misha and their characters sexuality, that's when I hit the ceiling
2024 is still the same situation: Misha is ok when he's talking about Destiel (I don't like the ship but I respect) but Jensen is still uncomfortable when fans ask him about the ship, and there is a kind of pression over him to get the same: Confirm Destiel.
***** They do it between each other because they're friends and they're both comfortable with it. Now imagine that you know there are other people out there *imagining you to be in a relationship with one of your friends.* That wouldn't weird you out at all? And even if Cas has no gender, it doesn't matter because Misha is a male. So while he's in that vessel he's as good as male
I am looking at Supernatural for the comedy they bring into the stories. Jensen and Sheppards timing when doing comedy cracks me up 1. Why not a movie about the Rat Pack comedy style (Dean Martin played by Jensen, Frank Sinatra? Sammy Davis? Jr, Peter Lawford? and Joey Bishop?.) 2. Bond comedy (As well as Bond ;) He could pull it off, don't you think?) 3. Romantic comedy, but with more comedy (Cary Grant style) Good looking people might just have to fight harder for certain roles, so glad in 2016 he is being recognized for more then just a pretty face. Look at Jonny Depp, Keanu Reeves, Chris Harmsworth among others. What I am trying to say is when the people in charge try a different approach and go out of their comfort zone, example (House, Hugh Laurie) It worked well and became a success. Just saying.
i like to read destiel fanfiction, but i don't want them to be together in the show (that wouldn't feel right) and i can understand jensen (everybody keeps asking him about destiel all the time -> it's kind of annoying)
I agree, in the show it wouldn't fit with the theme of Dean's characteristics and Cas' s characteristics. However, fanfictions are very fun to read and squeal over, and I like seeing the cute cartoons some people draw of them. I don't like the realism pictures, but the cartoons are adorable.
I feel as though Jensen is very intimidating. I would probably fear asking him questions. Just because I feel like he is very judgmental and I'm not saying he is but I would probably be scared. I mean I love his acting, and his funny side (and obviously his looks) but sometimes how he responds to questions (especially Destiel questions) I would tremble if I tried to ask something. Also how he responds to Destiel questions are horrible. I don't care if he doesn't think and or want it to happen but there are better ways to handle it. But I don't blame him all the way, he has grown up with judgement all his young acting career so he might be afraid of doing feminine roles and or saying anything along the lines of it. So he must defend his "manliness." And its not just him, its the fans as well. We need to respond to them feeling uncomfortable with those types of questions. Misha handles them quite well and I don't know how Jared responses but Jensen needs a bit of improvement. And I am far from a "Jensen Hater" but yeah these are my thoughts and opinions.
Well I’m too late but I don’t think he responds to destiel question horribly and he was right about everything , and I don’t like people asking him or misha about it
I know it's late but Jensen did play a gay character in 2001 with Patrick Dempsey. Just search for "Jensen Ackles Blonde" on youtube. But I really don't blame him for reacting negatively to Destiel questions. Many Destiel shippers are just horrible about this ship and try to force it on everything and if someone doesn't agree he or she is homophobic or whatever... In over 13 years in various fandoms, reading fanfiction every single day, and having almost exclusively gay ships Destiel has become the ONLY ship I genuinely dislike. I never had a problem with ships even when I don't agree with them but many Destiel shippers are just toxic because they can't or won't accept that it is not real. Destiel is not canon no matter how much they want it to be. Of course, not all Destiel shippers are like that but the toxic ones really managed to cast a really really bad light on this ship. And Jensens reactions to it might not be always perfect (he is human after all) but I just can't blame him. By now(for years actually) it's common knowledge that he does not ship it and is not comfortable with it so why do people keep trying to push him into it? That's not okay either! So what are his options when fans just won't stop? He can: -Stop interacting with fans altogether because they don't respect his boundaries -Let questions be filtered beforehand -Put on a fake smile and lie in everyone's faces or -Just be himself and make his opinion clear even if some people might take offense that he is a real-life person with own taste, choices and a free will I want to see the real Jensen Ackles with his opinions, his choices and his passions. The funny, compassionate, talented guy who is a great friend, father and husband. Not some version of him that he plays to please some fans.
24:17 It was at this moment that Jensen said damn in Russian. Misha taught it exactly.
❤

and he was also jet lagged.. probably sleepy

Couldn't have said it better myself! I agree 1000% on all counts!

The Destiel questions are so awkward. Why do people ask Jensen those things it's obvious he isn't comfortable with it.

Thanks for posting!!
I don't understand the question of the fans😂
I ship "Destiel", not conventionally, cuz I don't fetishize, but I sure as shit wouldn't ask about it at a convention.
