- This is the last page of my art journal and I wanted to celebrate the little creatures we tend to over look or actively dislike - the snails and the ants lurking in the undergrowth.
I will show you how I took inspiration from an earlier sample collage, then start to work in layers. I use collage, hand brush lettering, image transfer, stencils and stamping. I show you how not to panic and sort out any mistakes. At every step I share my thought process and why I'm doing different things, so even if you don't have all the things I've got I will give alternatives and you can use what you have.
I'll do a full flip though of the completed journal next week.
I have a few free prompt sheets if you want some inspiration', with lots of quotes to get your creative ideas flowing. You can find a free digital download here, along with others: www.lizchadertonstudio.co.uk/...
Every like and comment tells RUclips to show this to more people, so please jump in and share with your creative friends. If you really, really like this content and want to support me you can donate at Kofi. I have just set it up at: ko-fi.com/lizchadertonartist

How appropriate and lovely for spring which is exploding where I live*.... I love that hymn too.
*Watch out Mr snail, you're on the menu here.
found five frogs in our pond yesterday…..
A riot of happy garden bug fun Liz. What a lovely journal page! Always enjoy watching your journal pages come to life, including all those very useful tips and tricks, thank you.
Thank you so much!
James Herriot is one of my favourite authors! I had to click on your video immediately. Looks so interesting!
I was brought up on James Herriot!
Dear Liz, very interesting, lovely earthy colours for our garden friends 🙂 Thanks for showing, very informative, very nice 👍😍
so glad you liked it
Liz, your collage turned out amazing! Love the snail. You sure did have a lot of tips and tricks. I learned so much. Thanks.
You are so welcome!
As always pack full of ideas, thank you Liz. For my small stamps I use makeup jar tops as long as they are flat instead of an acrylic block. It's often easier to manipulate. For some perspective, stamp once then shift the stamp up and off to one side and stamp again, repeat. When you do this a few times with fresh ink on the stamp you soon have a field of flowers , say, fading into the distance.
Great idea! thank you I will be saving jar tops from now on
That was an incredible tutorial on so many options!
Glad it was helpful!
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this technique ❤
it’s very rewarding to do
I love snails! This was a wonderful journal spread, getting me ready for gardening season again. Thanks, Liz! Hope you do another art journal.
have started one already. and I can’t wait to be outside more
I like how you found shades of Orange. My orange artwork always ends up looking like something for Halloween. I used black with my orange as well. But yours looks fantastic. Not Halloweeny at all.
I’m really fond of orange as a colour
So relaxing to watch you work and I love your color palette!
thank you so much
Loved watching you do this one, so many techniques! 😍
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful Liz yet again, the bottom of the left page looks to me like a pond with reflections in it ❤ xXx
all purely intentional (🤣😅)

Fabulous thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love Tip 19: don't panic!
And of course I love your bright and beautiful journal page.
Thank you for sharing your tips.
my top advice always 😆
@@LizChadertonArt it is engraved in my mind 😀
Cool, i was just planning to do something like this, and now I know how.
have fun
That green really brought a lot of complimentary color and fun against the "bag of tangerines" you were working with 🍊😂 You were also spot on to add the napkin flowers and stamps. I was surprised at how those few final touches brought more life and depth to the page. It definitely wasn't too much. Beautiful work! 🐌
Oh thank you! that’s really thoughtful feedback
Love this Liz. Can you say where I can get the stamps please?
I think I got them on Temu
Very interesting - many thanks for sharing. Could I just ask where you got the stencils from?
I’ve bought them online via Amazon and Temu, plus a soo in the UK called The Range.
Thanks Liz. How did you get on with Temu? I've never used it because I have always been a bit suspicious!
Looks like it would be easier to just draw the snail.
probably! usually it would be but I was experimenting with image transfer
