Terry Brooks is so hilarious. Diana Gabaldon is so wise. Brandon Sanderson is so organized. What an awesome mix for a panel.
Diana Galbadon is just casually being one of the most accomplished people ever, and I'm sitting here at work, doing nothing but waiting on emails.
journery before destination :)
@gizzardgizzard3583 love your reply! And very very true. It's the way of kings and we are all royalty.
Me casually googling her, having had no idea who she was.
Terry Brooks is an absolute hoot! Love it.
I like how Terry stayed the same height when he sat down.
That bit of advice about changing the POV character for scene that isn't working is great.
Breaking it down to the emotional level and building it up again as my own, that's something I struggled with the last few drafts I created. I have hope, that I managaed to get it done with my current work. Great way to put this into words, how Brandon said it.
I'm gonna have to read Terry and Diana too.
And yeah, Carl Barks is awesome. That's how you write honest social critique in a genre.
Carl Barks really is one of, if not THE most influential writers/artists of the 20th century.
Who?
@MAD-DUKE The Disney Ducks guy. Diana mentions him a few minutes into this.
Not knowing Carl Barks should be a punishable offense
I recently watched a youtube documentary about him and how he quietly influenced so many artists and authors. Had never heard of him before, so interesting to see it pop up again.
TERRY FUCKEN BROOKS!!
One of my biggest influences. I won't mention how disappointed I am with the last few decades of his stuff, but when people will buy anything you write I guess who can blame him. (Oops, I mentioned it 😂).
Great watch/listen. I love to hear the differences in authors in regards to their backgrounds and how they go about their writing.
I couldn’t get a good gauge on Terry in this. I’ve ready 10 Shannara books which I enjoyed, but I’ve never watched content with him. Overly playful at times with snippets of strong sincerity.
Didn’t realize Diana’s Outlander weren’t romance. Maybe I need to give them a try.
Could you please consider buying Evermore? You could expand it and host Dragonsteel conventions there and other cool book nerd stuff.

@@Naija_Ninja Storming Right, Gancho!
Do you always use the same amount of O’s or just do whatever feels right for each video?
@@jackstenglein8721 it's always 4 o's. That's how I originally started putting it and now auto-correct brings it up automatically that way. I would add that 5 of them seems one too many.. for no reason whatsoever 😅
@@zenthepoet.16 O’s, no more, no less.
Great authors! I'm in awe here!
Thank you for sharing this!!
was almost here before adonalsium guy :(
This made me lol!
Terry and Brandon - two of my favorite authors.
I have to know if Brandon took any inspiration from the dagger Stiehl from Shannara. The assassin Pe Ell uses it - it can cut through any object. It's so similar to the Honorblade that Szeth wields.
It’s possible, but the sword that cuts through everything is a common trope. For instance, 1000 years ago Irish folklore had Fragarach. He’s said what he wanted was massive fantasy swords that were also as light as lightsabers so he could have big dynamic battles.
All of the shardblades and honorblades share that trait, fyi, not just the first one szeth carries.
@@MR-RUclipsChangedMyHandle that is correct, however, Jezrien's Honorblade (the one we are discussing) is the smallest I believe, like a blade that's not as big as, say, a Shardblade
Wow!
Wow Terry Brooks too!!
18:30 ah yes the good old "She already said my answer" trick
Hello!!
Probably the only time I've heard anyone say Skyward was like WH40K.
Not sure what version of Skyward he read.....
Fuck, im 40 and never written much and a novel seems gargantuan, always wondered about it though, and have several ideas cricling. Maybe I will have to try to do the 5 terrible books first or I will be too old! :)
I love the way Dianna tells stories
Titans? Who are the Titans? Clash of the Titans? Hoot Hoot >v
Do Brandon and Terry get along? Seems like there’s some history there with the “I need to say nicer things about him” and “wish I wasn’t sitting next to him” comments from Terry but it’s hard to tell since it could just be friendly banter
I think it's just that Sanderson heaped tons of praise upon Terry Brooks at various points in the panel, and Brooks was saying he should return the favor. Almost every answer by Sanderson worked in some "Terry taught me" anecdote
@@joeshmoe001100 makes sense. Was thinking maybe Brandon was trying to mend things by doing that. I vaguely remember someone saying something in a podcast episode. Never mind!
Comment
Diana looking like a snack at 70! Holy cow!
Would Brandon Sanderson consider writing a Star Wars trilogy?
I doubt it. He’s already said he has more planned to write now than he has time to finish.
Who is the moderator?
Shawn (something) he is/was Terry's Druid you may say. I think he was like Terry's right hand.
where's steven erikson?
Summoning demons in the back room or something probably
8th comment!!!
Brandon Panderson.
Did the Brando shave!??? NOOOOOOooooo....
No this an older recording
This is from 2 years ago
Brandon supports other people on the stage. Brooks mocks them. Do you feel the same?
Two giants of fantasy and Diana Gabaldon
Sanderson is a hack. Every book since Words of Radiance has been terrible, Dawnshard wasn't even written by Sanderson and Rhythms of Bore ruined the entire series. Such a waste.
Not to comment on quality of the books since that can be subjective, but why exactly are you subscribed and watching his channel? If you don’t like what he does, go somewhere to find something more like your tastes. Nobody is keeping you here.
kinda weird to spend a lot of energy on something you hate tbh
And yet you commented under an hour after this video went live, meaning you're subscribed, meaning he lives rent-free in your head
Hateful and unnecessary comment. You aren't welcome in this community
But you comment imediately when he posts? And you decided to read not 1 but 2 more stormlight books that were "terrible"? I mean I can understand reading the next book but if you think a book is terrible and you keep reading the series that's just you being an idiot.
