I'm pretty sure that more than half the people you associate with in social media think that New York State Supreme Court in New York County (Manhattan) is not authorized by the law. It's easy to get angry and carried away sometimes.

The problem with contempt being solely judge discretion and in some states a felony--- wait at the end. Did some random judge in NY just decide what a political campaign itself, unrelated to the case at hand, can or cannot say? Fast way to get this thrown out on appeal

If you, as a judge, preside over a trial and are found to have violated the defendants constitutional rights and it goes before the supreme court, if its a majority ruling against you you should be removed and never be allowed anywhere near the legal profession again as well as get a fine, if its 9-0 you get executed.
How is this possible in the United States? Why are no individuals in position of authority calling this out?

I remember back in 2017 when Tommy Robinson was imprisoned for breaking a gag order, how horrified Americans were to hear that there was such a thing as a gag order. It was practically unheard of in the US at that time. Amazing what a difference a few years can make.

All this time I never thought to look at these event in terms of behavioral psychology. This judge seems to be trying to condition (operant) Trump's behavior using positive and negative (mostly negative) reinforcement. Like what we do to civilize our children as they are growing up. Being Canadian you probably know what the loyalists did after the United States won its independence from England. It had nothing to do with the new US government but lots to do with the neighbors of the loyalists. Some of them went to eastern Canada, some went back to Europe, and others to the French territory in Louisiana or the Caribbean to avoid the consequences of their loyalty to the British crown. These public vitriolic opponents of the orange man might have to follow that example and it won’t be the government pushing them in the back. Government can’t be everywhere all the time.
