Despite the torture he went through, The Grinch ended up being my favorite Christmas movie. Every year I watch it. I loved his performance, a classic!

Him and Jackie Chan, both of them have gone through a lot, for our entertainment. Except they have done it differently; Jim Curry, through the grench and Ace Ventura, and Jackie Chan, through his stunts and injuries. But, Jim Curry is more like a live action cartoon.

I’m 31, and so grateful for you taking all that on. I saw it in Italy in 2000, at the movie theatre on the military base because my stepdad was stationed there at the time. One of the best memories of my entire life ❤

In 29 and my dad took me and my sister to see the Grinch off base because he couldn't get tickets on base. We were in Alaska. Swear the Grinch is a core memory for military kids, like everyone I've met who is my age with a parent who served saw the Grinch with them.

I recently watched a documentary about him.. and let me tell you .. his backstory is heartbreaking. He really is one of the guys that worked himself up in the industry and proofed what an amazing actor he truly is and that it's worth fighting for your dreams and never give up, no matter how many years it takes. @@picachugirl2036 there's more than one his dad was a guy was his idol and he was sleeping in cars pretty much growing up. at some point they were so poor and sadly his dad never did see him make it because he died before he could see it. so like him or hate him he was dirt poor growing up and so i'm glad he found his way out of it

People have no idea how dedicated to his craft Jim Carrey actually is and how much he will undergo just to put on a performance that might get one person through their day. The guy has openly admitted that money and fame have not solved his problems as well as being seen as Hollywood’s “crazy guy” just to prove it. He wishes fame and fortune on everyone just so they can see it isn’t the answer. He knows this yet he still gives his all to every performance just so we can have a good day and be a little more entertained after seeing him than we were before. Truly… Thank you, Jim.
Don't wish fame on me. I'll take the fortune, but A. I'm antisocial, so even being around people I don't know is uncomfortable and B. Fame is what drives people insane (either from their own ego being bloated too much or from the pressure it puts on them to always act the "correct" way so they don't receive death threats for eating their cereal the wrong way.

not all costumes are like that, impretty sure the grinch suit was because its its super fine detail nearly connected tom him.
@@imwithyou38 the grinch costume he wore is less of a body suit and more of a second skin, because they needed to capture his facial expressions up close for the filmshoot.
They use surgical like glue for the mask so yeah it’s pretty annoying all the sweat that builds up

This man, much like Robin Williams, has continued to give us all so much laughter, which we all need, while suffering their own issues. He was paid, but that doesnt negate the effort. I'd say the millions of dollars he was compensated with softened the pain of wearing heavy make up for a couple weeks.
Let's not overstate the role of actors in society. They offer us a diversion from our lives and are paid handsomely for a pretty soft gig.
Victorian England had a much more appropriate view of the theatre: they loved the plays and they appreciated the acting, but you wouldn't allow or even think to have these people in your home. They were freaks. They spend their days pretending to be other people. Children do that, and we don't exhalt them for it. When adults do it, of you really think about it, it's a very strange profession, and by no means an indication that the person is of great moral probity, intellectual rigor, or social value.

I love Jim Carrey. Grinch was always my favorite Christmas movie and eternal sunshine is my favorite movie of all time. He’s an incredible actor and an all around great guy. 💛

I can't fully imagine the kind of pain he must have went through for a CIA approved anti-torture specialist to be brought in to help, but the fact the guy was willing to smoke who knows how many cigars to endure it- mainly for the sake of making kids smile and laugh is truly inspiring.

It’s insane how someone else’s experience can be so different. We saw a great movie while he was having to go through training so he could get through it without breaking down 😢 I have claustrophobia so I can only imagine the panic he had to hold down.

Full body prosthetic make-up is genuinely claustrophobic. Especially around the eyes and nostrils. From experience, it genuinely sucks. Jim rocks.

Robin Williams gave the same amazing vibes. And they both do/did struggle SO much with mental health issues which breaks my heart -- they can make everyone feel better except for themselves. 😞 when Schindler's List was being filmed, the material of it was (obviously) so damn depressing that the entire crew and cast would be so down in the dumps, and when it got bad like that, they'd call Robin Williams and put him on speakerphone, and everyone would gather round it and he'd tell jokes and cheer everyone up so they could get on. These men are/were incredible. 🖤

That's why he's still here and continues to inspire others to not give up no matter what 😀

Often times, they’re suffering in silence. I know, because I’m both of those people and a counselor. I’m grateful for having a good support system and of course my higher power (Jesus).
@@s0lastsummer7 I never knew that about Schindler's List! Thanks! I know both Robin and Jim had tough childhoods and young adult lives with drugs and other substances. Matter of fact Robin was the last one to see John Belushi while he was in the process of dying of course he didn't know John had taken a speedball, he just thought he was nodding off after use because as soon as he found out some hours later the first thing he said I believe was "I just seen him I was just with him?" Beyond sad and I always felt that may have haunted him too.
Jim's has a rough few years with losing his GF to suicide and he has spoken very openly about depressed and it meaning "deep rest" in his *hopeful* over coming of it.
He's a legend. Loved watching him on In Living Color back in the day💯

It was actually one of those movies that has stapled deeply into my childhood! Good Memories from this time and from this movie with my best friend Amanda in one of the brightest, greatest, most creative times of my life!
So, truly, I appreciate it. I really do. NO ONE could've given that performance like him. And Now we have it recorded until the end of time for everyone to see! Even without knowing this, I praised his performance in this film.

The stuff they glued on his face must of really been uncomfortable especially when sweating. As a kid being a werewolf on Halloween with hair glued to my face with make up was terrible and vowed to never do it again
