  • Anyone played any of the OVERCOOKED games? Well this one I believe is the original concept of that. Pressure Cooker for the Atari 2600 is not a game I grew up with, but as soon as I found out about it I just had to have it. As you will be able to see, I panicked at the end there 😂 the game is so simple yet extremely anxiety inducing. I think 'Pressure Cooker' is the perfect name for it! Also, it was made by a guy by the name of Garry 'Kitchen', which is such an awesome coincidence! This was my personal best efforts playing the game so far.
As it reads on the box :
"Ordering a cheese lettuce onions no tomatoes
onions lettuce chees don't forget tomatoes
tomatoes lettuce only never mind the cheese
lettuce absolutely no onions maybe tomatoes
extra onions did I say cheese and lettuce
where's that cheese onions and tomatoes
slow the cheese give me lettuce and onions
hurry up with the onions cheese lettuce
and whatever you do hold the Mayo!"
Sounds like lunchtime at "The Grillie" And behind the counter? None other than Short Order Sam. A man who was born in grease. Normally thrives under pressure. Except today. You see, Sam's automated kitchen is totally out to lunch. And, with hundreds of hungry customers waiting, he could sure use a helping hand. So grab your apron and get cookin'. Come on. After all, how can you turn down a man whose initials are S.O.S.?

Ever since i bought a compilation,
    ACTIVISION ANTHOLOGY,
for my PlayStation 2 from a former game store in Myyrmäki, Vantaa (Finland 🇫🇮) in July 2004,
i played many games for many hours everyday 😹👍🕹️.
It has over 80 games -
    including DECATHLON, ICE HOCKEY,
    PITFALL, PITFALL II, LOST CAVERNS,
H.E.R.O. and even PRESSURE COOKER 😺👍🕹️.
And when i loaded it for the first time,
    it introtuced the early retrospective
    1980's main menu -
a retrospective gamer 🕹️ room with
the cartridge deck with games on it,
a TV, a stereo, and the wall of the original retrospective game badges 😺👍.
It also shows the unlockable TV commercials of the Activision games
    for the Atari 2600 😺👍🕹️.
    This game compilation cost 24,99€,
and it was the only copy on the shelf,
so i had to buy it - and i did 😹😸😺👍🕹️.
DEFINITELY THE BEST RETROSPECTIVE BUY EVER 😹😺👍🕹️!
At least, you cooked retrospectively pawsome 🐾 in this Atari 2600 😹😸😺👍🕹️.
A big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from
    Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.

Can you remember if your version of Pressure Cooker had music while you play? 🤔 My one only has the startup tune and I noticed that in another video there was a little background tune during gameplay.

Actually, now that you mentioned it,
it does have only one same music 🎵🎶 at
the start and game over sequences 😺👍

Hmm, how strange 🤔 Perhaps the Atari 2600 Plus is just incapable of emulating the sound for the extra music track.
I think Activision used extra chips in some of their game's cartridges to produce a bit more sound. I'm thinking that may be the case here. I reckon if I put the game in an original Atari 2600, the background music may perhaps work.

UPDATE : I just chucked this game on once again yesterday, and I can confirm that it DOES actually have music in the background while playing, but for some reason this recording doesn't. Maybe that is a fault of my screen capturing device or perhaps the cartridge wasn't quite in properly at the time of the recording of this. We'll never know! 🤯
