Hi Richard, After countless tries I finally got it too work. I decided to watch your video and did this step by step with your instructions. I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong but your video helped out alot. Joe from Michigan.
Thanks!! To those who say it doesn't work, It works if you are using Access, 2007 or newer. He points this out at 3:32. Also works similarly in OpenOffice 4, but with slight variation. In OpenOffice Database, you can simply double-click on the empty picture space when adding a new record and it gives you a "select file" pop-up, which reverse-populates the photo field. However, OpenOffice reports don't display pictures unless you install additional report plug-ins.
Worked great, can you tell me if this worked for you in reports, i have a form now and I can see the pictures in continuous form, but when i put them in to a report not all pictures are printed, any idea?
I am very thankful for your awesome videos. They have helped me build my database for a small business I have recently started. Again, thank you for all your help and keep up the great work!.
Hi, this is very nice video. I did the same thing and really it worked great for my need. But i have a question though regarding the image folder. what if i have to change folder or the file location might be transferred soon. How do i change the link all at once? i have almost 2000 records.
My Lord i can not express about my opinion how can i thank you iam an Egyption and i managed to understand you easily because you are an expert lecturer
Hey Rick, really like your videos, thanks for teaching me access. I am trying to have an image appear on the form that corresponds to a value chosen from a drop down menu. The form pulls values from other tables. Can I make an image appear, if the path is within another table (ie not the parent table for the form)?
I followed every step in the video and it worked out perfect. I save all my pictures in the same folder then my access-file. At the end I just want to move, copy or whatever the whole folder on a flash drive to use my acces file on every computer proberly. In this case I need to implement relative paths but I can't figure out how to do it. Is there any way to display images with relative paths? Thx
Have tried & tried & could not get it to work. Maybe you have other macros running or maybe its the type of Office I have. Using Office 2010. Does my image need to say jpg somewhere in the visible name? Is that something you attached? Or did your computer do it automatically?
Thanks for the response.. I modified the query as you suggest to make it simple (picture is place in c:\test folder). Error display by MS access - cant open the file picture_path. I use both technique you discuss (controlsource) and (event procedure) and both does not display the picture. Creating the fieldname (picture_path) work perfectly like what you discuss here. Do you have other idea on displaying UNBOUND FIELD.... thanks
Hi Richard, I want to know why the jpg coming from my desktop its doesn't copied automatically everytime I click create. By the way I am using access 2010. Can you help me please...
Thanks for the info. Hadn't played with Access since the the 97 version and back then I had to build my own add-on to get around the product. Needed a refresh and this worked out well. It even prompted me to break into VBA and make a button to select the file and throw the path into a text field. And it just works ... Thank You!
Excellent Richard thanks. Worked well for me at first however after entering 50 or more records with images I went back to my data base and the images were no longer visible in form view they just vanished and no longer display for new records when I add the path name following your instructions. What has happened. If you have the time I would appreciate a response.
Thanks a lot man it was really helpful, but if I move the access DB. to another PC the folder path of the image will change. Can you make the path = the current folder path of database. So, whenever the path changes wont be any effect on the images. Thanks again..
Joseph Mike Sure. Just use a relative reference, or make a table with settings and put the folder path in there. That's how I do it in my Access Imaging Seminar.
Richard, Awesome tutorial! Incredibly useful for our biz invoices and paid receipts. Many thanks for your time & effort. Question; can the Image-box or text-box be configured to allow "copy&paste" or "drag&drop". I know, I'm so lazy! Thanks!!
Now, what if you have 100 record, and you want the photo field link address to have a default value from the name field ? Like : ="\C:\Face Photo\FIRST NAME.jpg" Is there a way to make "first name" a default value taken from the first name field ?
I do my best to help people as much as I can, but I can't promise I can get to everyone. However, in order to help you I'll definitely need MORE information from you. What have you done? What works? What doesn't work... EXACTLY. Are you getting an error message? Help me help you. If you need more in-depth assistance, see the TechHelp page on my web site.
I would like to be able to link to photos in the same directory as the access file, without using the entire path so that I could copy the directory to another location and have it still be able to follow the link. is that possible?
Dear Bro Rost this thing is not working in my MS Access 2007. I've been trying it over n over but that image control does not display the picture at all. what to do?
Could you not do this with out a field for the path? If your path is always the same, the file extension is the same and the only difference is the name of the file which is the name of the person could you not do a bbs code which changes the source code based on the changing first name. It would reduce the data sorted
Problem encountered when using a query(please see below SQL view) as the source to a Form. The bound field (HRISOWNER_EI_EMPLOYEE_H.PICTURE_TEST, ) work perfectly using Data - controlsource but the unbound field (picture_path) does not work. I apply form level - on current code Image12.Picture = PICTURE_PATH but has an error message of of MS acess cant open the file. Need help....
Hello. I am having an issue with office 2k3 on windows 10. it says that it cannot find files with extension .jpg because they are too large. Have you had this issue and do you know a solution?? Error: "microsoft office access does not support the format of the file"
As long as everything is in the "same place" then you don't have to make any changes. If your image folder is "C:\images" on one computer, then it has to be the same thing on the other computer.
I need to make a ruster soccer team report with image of every player. (9 pictures in the same Form). Does your tutorials teach you how? Let me know. Thanks
Hi, i basically do the same in my reports... but somehow it shows the jpg only on the first record... ??? what am i doing wrong ??? i use a filter to get the current customer info on the report and use a reference to another picturebox
That's a bit more complicated and involves some coding. You need to use a special control or DLL call to browse for files. I cover this in my full Access Imaging Seminar at 599CD(dot)com/X3V0MC
Hi, I made a Subform connected to a table in DB. I need to display small images(symbols) into one of those columns in sub-form. Is it possible? If not what else component should I use to display text and image in list. Thank you
I have Office 365. I tried this several ways, several times and followed the directions exactly. It is not working at all. No pictures show up. No error message, everything else works fine, just an empty Image box...????
all thumbs up to the greatest Access teacher Richard. thanks Richard
You are very welcome

Super easy to follow tutorial on adding pictures to Forms. Thank you!
You're Welcome!
Thank you! It took a few tries, but I got it to work. Much easier than the code options I had seen on other help sites.

It is working perfectly. Thanks. However others accessing the MsAccess file in network do not get the pictures?. Could you help me?
See the new video: 599cd.com/Images - shouldn't matter if you're on a network as long as everyone has the same drive letter for the server

Does this work in a query based form? Or a Search box based form
Sure. I don't see why not. Try it. :)
Thank you! Clear and easy to follow instruction.

Your code looks fine. It might be the "&" in your file path. Try using a different folder like C:\TEST and see if that fixes it.
Thanks a lot man it was really helpful, but if I move the access DB. to another PC the folder path of the image will change.
Can you make the path = the current folder path of database. So, whenever the path changes wont be any effect on the images.

Joseph Mike Sure. Just use a relative reference, or make a table with settings and put the folder path in there. That's how I do it in my Access Imaging Seminar.
Very well explained
Use an UPDATE QUERY. See: 599CD-dot-com/XVI52F
Hey sir I Follow the same your tutorial but i can't copy and past like you did in access 2013. Can you help?
Without seeing your database it's impossible for me to tell what's wrong. Follow the steps in the video EXACTLY and it should work.
Hi PC Learning Zone, do you know how to data pass from one form to report after click the submit button with same values which were we filled in form.
Yes. Yes I do. :) 599cd.com/FormName

You helped me, thanks 🙏

Sure is.
How can I use relative path?
You can't EASILY. You could in VBA by utilizing the Application's path. That's another video completely.

What happens if i move the database to another computer? Do i need to make changes to the file part again?
As long as everything is in the "same place" then you don't have to make any changes. If your image folder is "C:\images" on one computer, then it has to be the same thing on the other computer.
Is it possible for me to display in an access form an image stored in a sql database?
Possibly... but you're better off not storing the image in a database.
help me about Append query containing attachment in ms access 2016, please
My first bit of advice: don't use attachments inside your database. They cause all kinds of issues.
i have a problem with different images with same size are flip horizontally when report show them even if i modify them is that a bug?
Sounds like it
My photos work in report but are displayed at a 180 degrees angle. Is there a way to fix this?
Rotate the page 180 degrees. If it's just a print preview, flip your monitor over. ;)
I need to make a ruster soccer team report with image of every player. (9 pictures in the same Form). Does your tutorials teach you how?

Access no longer support ImageControl and displaying images in Form Records. You have to know VBA Code to achieve this with Access 2016
Displaying images is pretty easy: 599cd.com/J4LWB
