Sugarbytes has hooked me up with their entire bundle, so I'll be covering their collection soon. Nest is a modular sequencer based on breadboard experimentation, the sound engine is pretty minimal, so this will be less of a sound design stream than normal, and focussed more on creative sequencing

I love this sequencer, great to see other people play with it.

it's pretty fun, glad I got a chance to demo it. hope I did it justice

This is one of the best plug ins I’ve used, especially when loaded with 4 decent synths! The modulation of the effects adds additional layers again! Even though I have no idea what’s going on with some of the modules, I’ve managed to get some really interesting stuff within a few days :)

it's a fun logical sequencer, it's good at opening up new creativity by creating sequences in new ways

@@DataBroth it’s opened up new avenues and every time I use it, I just see more uses! Thanks for the videos :)

Oh, hell yeah... You DID wind up doing a stream on this after all, lol ;) I can't say I bought this plugin exactly hesitantly, but I didn't know for sure if I'd love it or not. I thought,"Well hell, it's Sugar Bytes so I know it will be great even if I don't use it all the time." Plus I had to make sure my Sugar Bytes collection was complete so I said screw it and bought it.
I opened it up in Bitwig and tinkered with some factory presets and thought "That's cool". Then I started loading other VSTs in it and my smile grew even bigger ;) I haven't had much time to play with Nest yet. This reminds me it's time to get off RUclips and get busy
I'm at 9:30 in the video and that sequence just became an absolutely beautiful kind of mysterious melancholy. Awesome job so far with just Nest alone ;-D

thank you, yeah I haven't tried loading external vsts yet
but I did end up doing Nest because sugarbytes hooked me up with their collection
I'm a bit more fond of obscurium, I can get the results I want out of that faster+ it has more parameter modulation which is something I prefer
I did have fun with this stream, just kind of wish Nest was a bit different, maybe a deeper/modular synth engine with more modulation instead of 3 engines and a drum machine

Bought this a while back, 2 months or so. Have experimented with it a bit and come up with a few interesting presets, but really need to check the instructional videos on RUclips, since this thing is deep and while I know a few modular tricks I'm not quite up to speed with this. Too often I go for Obscurium instead, which is quite a bit easier to grasp and get good results from. Lots of fun resampling that and putting it in Slate and Ash Cycles. Have a feeling that if I took a bit more time with this though there's a lot I could come up with that would be pretty awesome.

I personally prefer obscurium, nest is neat, but VERY different
most modular techniques don't really apply for nest, it's more similar to working with pcb and jumper wires

Can we wire nest to obscurium to get even better results? Hehe. Weirdness deliciousness

I think you can use next to control obscurium, but I'm not sure you'd want to
both nest and obscurium have fairly simple synth engines
I prefer obscurium a bit more, nest is a bit much to handle and obscurium is a bit more practical as a midi device
I think the strength in both of these tools is in just having fun with them built in, and sampling the end results for use as inspiration

Can you modulate/randomize the sequence tempo/direction, just like you can with Obscurium? Because if you can, then this would be a dream sequencer :)

    • @DataBroth
      @DataBroth  Год назад

not exactly, there's some stuff you can do with the mux/demux and shift registers that are actually significantly more advanced than that
but also not nearly as intuitive
