Dear friends, You can download the ATOM User Guide shown by Mig in this video as a completely free PDF download, here: bit.ly/405eJQ5. The guide includes tips and tricks for using ATOM, a complete color chart with all ATOM colors, and a conversion chart for color matching older acrylics and paints from other ranges. We hope you find it useful! AMMO Team
Hi, I ordered one of the Atom 12 paint ww2 tank sets directly from Mig and was a little disappointed to find out that the first colour, periscope green I believe was a standard older style 17ml pot from the normal range (not an Atom paint at all) It quite clearly states that there is 12 x 20ml pots on the box.😡I love these paints but this practice Is not acceptable.
I had a Atom bottle included as a free gift in a previous order, after testing it both with airbrush and brush and I have to say I was blown away by the ease of use, adhering and the rock-solid finish! The cleaning was very simple as well! Very happy with this new line!!
I bought the atom german paint color set. I just love these new paints. No more tip dry, they are so smooth. It feels like they work with a wide range of preasure and thining aswell. Really easy to paint with 🍻
I previously used the other MiG line when I was in the process of putting together a order to replenish some of the colors I was close to being out of when I came across the ATOM line and since I thoroughly enjoyed the previous line I thought why not give this one a try and I’m so glad that I did because I certainly can’t say that I was disappointed! I absolutely love this new line of paints and since all that I use is acrylics they are perfect not to mention the variety of colors. Keep up the awesome job guys!!!
Thank you so much for your support SK, we really appreciate it. We hope you enjoy working with ATOM and will share the results with us! Jamie, AMMO Team

Please match your paints to a known RML and BS standard and you will have thousands of modelers buying your paints. The paint swatches are out there, all you have to do is MATCH them!
@@MrGunnar177Scale effect is a subjective artistic expression that can change with the actual scale being modeled, and the atmosphere/environment/lighting of the setting in which the subject is portrayed. By beginning with a base color matched to established industry/federal standard, the modeler is then able to easily adjust the tint and hue of the base color by adding white, gray, tan, or later inks and washes according to the effect desired. Tell me you don't know how scale effect works without telling me you don't know how scale effect works. 🙄
Fantastic new line.Your demos are perfect For this particular video, you should have include a small clip on the ease of cleanup! That is a BIG plus, also he fact of no smell!...I have recommended it to all my acrylic user friends.I'am waiting to give a demo at my local IPMS club meeting!

Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, ATOM combines the benefits of lacquers and water-based acrylics. It offers strong coverage, high durability, and excellent self-leveling properties, while also being non-toxic and odorless. Thank you again, Jamie, AMMO Team
Please make some WW2 NAVY color sets. German, British, Japanese and US…There are a lot of ship builders in this hobby and some dedicated sets would be amazing.
I just purchased 3 different colors of the Atom paints to try and evaluate. They are great! One of the colors was White and this paint is now my "go to" white. One of the other colors was "Aluminium" which can be delicate in the sense that it can rub off or be removed when applying tape/masking over it. No Problems here. It's rock solid. Bit difficult to obtain thinners, so I've been using someone else's product with good results. Will still try to get some Atom Thinner to see if there's any difference. Also, where can I get one of those charts. Even a PDF link would work. Looked all over the website with no luck.
Good morning, Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that you’ve enjoyed working with ATOM. Regarding thinners, we’ve recently released some new sizes, and they’re starting to appear in shops worldwide. If you get the chance, we recommend trying the paints with the dedicated thinner, as it helps to maintain the unique properties of ATOM. As for the User Guide, it will be available soon. I’ll be sure to write to you here as soon as it’s ready. Thank you again! Jamie, AMMO Team
Thank you so much for your feedback. From your comment it sounds like you would appreciate the stronger durability of ATOM paints. Happy modeling! Jamie, AMMO Team
I’ve never had issues with paint lifting using the older ammo paints ever. Did you prime the model? I’ve blasted ammo paints with all kinds of enamel products, not one time has the paint lifted.
@@Cptpaul12 yeah, It 1st happened when weathering Tamiya's Gepard with humbrol enamels and oils, painted with Ammo Gelbolive and primered with Stynylrez. i then tried both vallejo primer and bare plastic with 2 colours, Gelbolive and Panzer Grey Base with no thinner and Vallejo and UMP thinners . The paint, which was left for a couple of days to dry/cure, softened and lifted with Humbrol Enamel thinners and household White Spirit, but was fine with Abteilung and Bob Ross oderless thinners. I still used the paint as it sprayed really well and left a nice finish, i just covered it with a coat of Vallejo matt varnish

Thank you so much for this video, I am about to restock my MIG acrylic colours and was planning to try ATOM paints as they look so much easier to use. This video clarifies so much. Could you provide needle size and pressure used for both airbrushes?
Good morning, Thank you so much for your feedback, we think you will really enjoy working with ATOM. ATOM can be easily used with a pressure range of 1 to 2 bar, or around 15 to 30 psi. The ideal pressure depends on personal preference, the task at hand, and the paint's dilution. For example, when working on details and with precision, you might want to drop the pressure and add more thinner and/or retarder. Whereas for basecoating, you might work with a less diluted paint at a higher pressure. A good starting point is 1.5 bar (around 22 psi) with 30% thinner. From there, you can adjust the pressure and dilution to suit your needs. Regarding airbrushes, Mig uses two in the video: the Aircobra with a 0.3mm needle, and the Airviper with a 0.2mm needle for detail work. I hope this helps, Jamie, AMMO Team

Atom paints have by now replaced all my other paints, brush and airbrush (and I had almost every other range in existence). I love almost everything about them, ease of use, non-toxicity, incredible durability, pricing. I already own almost the entire range - can't get enough of them. Only thing you guys could improve on is adding official color codes (FS, RAL, RLM, etc.) to the labels, where applicable. So far I haven't been able to find FS36231 in the range, maybe someone here knows if it's already existing; for US Cockpits it is quite essential. Another, not unimportant, color I find is missing is 'Medium Sea Grey' (BS381C 637). I would love to hear some info whether Ammo is planning to fill these (and potentially other) gaps.
I use the paints with a brush on small scale aircraft models. The paint definitely needs some ATOM thinner and it looks very good on small parts. For larger swaths as wings is not perfectly self levelling as thin layers dry very fast, nothing a few quick and gentle passes with a 2000 grit sponge can't fix. I still have to try the ATOM thinner with retarder but is hard to find at retailers in my country.
Good morning Vladimir, thank you so much for your feedback. It does sound as though you would benefit from the use of ATOM thinner with retarder in this situation, we hope you get to try it soon! Please do not hesitate to contact us via social media or email if you would like help with finding a local stockist. Thank you, Jamie, AMMO Team

So far so good. I have about 20 of the new Atom paints. Ordered about 20 more (German tanks colors, track colors and some basic colors). They air brush nice, brush on nice and clean up easily. So far i like them. Need to get used to dropping paint out the top, not used to holding the bottle vertical.
Thank you so much Bill for sharing your experience and for your support. We are so happy to hear you are enjoying working with ATOM! Happy modeling, Jamie, AMMO Team
Nothing at all like mission models.. you need a science degree from MIT to get those to spray and stick. Some colors are great and others not so much. Super inconsistent. Ammo paints are much easier to use.
I bought a triad of browns and sandy shades and I have not found them to work so well. Very streaky with a brush and definitely need thinned through an airbrush. To be honest, I did not see anything wrong with the older AK airbrush paints. Not sure why anything had to change.
Good morning, Thank you for your comment. We cannot speak for other brands. We would be happy to help you with any issues you may have, such as troubleshooting the ATOM paints. Please feel free to reach out to us via social media or email and we will be waiting to help, Jamie, AMMO Team
Well done, thanks. I went to the site to look at the airbrushes. Found the page quickly but had trouble finding the (complete) airbrushes buried with all the airbrush parts. The box pictures don’t stand out. I suspect it’s a temporary situation and they’ll be displayed at the top of the page and out of the boxes at some point.

I hope this helps, Jamie, AMMO Team
Will Atom paints totally replace the older ones? Are the old thinner and retarder compatible with Atom? Can old paints and Atom paints be mixed? The auto leveling seems great, it would nice to have some gloss paints to get directly a shiny results for cars, etc.
Good morning, As water-based acrylic paints, you can combine ATOM paints with older paints and auxiliary products. However, for the best results, it's advisable to use only ATOM paints and auxiliary products. This is because ATOM has a unique formulation with specific properties that can be affected by mixing with older acrylics. Thank you for your feedback regarding gloss colors; we always appreciate it! Additionally, we offer Cobra Motor paints specifically designed for model cars, which you might find interesting. You can find some videos on our RUclips channel, and please feel free to reach out if we can assist you further. Have a great day, Jamie, AMMO Team
@@AMMOofMIGJIMENEZ Thanks for the answer. I will try Atom paint next time I need a new bottle. I know about the Cobra Motor paints, but I would prefer to avoid any non water-based paint.

Why the negativity when improvements are made in a product that improves its fluidity, consistency and how well it flows when thinned properly from the airbrush or how it behaves when painting by brush.the. As with any product on the market improvements will always be made.
Good afternoon, You can, but it is important to allow the ATOM paints to dry for a full 24 hours. This ensures that they are fully cured. In addition, the kit should be washed before painting to make sure there is no mould release from the moulding process, or debris from the assembly purpose, which can create a barrier between the paint and the plastic. Thank you, Jamie, AMMO Team
Thank you so much for your comment! We hope you enjoy working with ATOM. ATOM paints can be used for various weathering effects, such as chipping, whether applied with a brush, chipping fluid, or the classic sponge technique. The range includes washable colors that are perfect for recreating worn whitewash and sand camouflage. ATOM acrylics can also be heavily diluted to create additional effects. You can combine them with any of our dedicated weathering products, such as enamels, Oilbrusher paints, YAKUMO, and pigments, each offering great options for various weathering techniques. The possibilities are virtually endless! The color chart will be available soon, and I'll make sure to reach out to you here once it’s ready. Thank you again, Jamie, AMMO Team
Good morning Tony, This question depends on multiple factors, including dilution, and environmental conditions like dryness and humidity. However, if you have any issues with dry tip, we produce a thinner with retarder which slows the drying of the paint. In the video, you can see Mig use this thinner and retarder when applying camouflage. I hope this helps, Jamie, AMMO Team
Good morning, You can find the full AMMO and ATOM ranges at Hobby Time in the Netherlands. As our Distributor in the Netherlands, they may also be able to direct you to a more local stockist if you prefer. Thank you so much, Jamie, AMMO Team

Good morning, The new ATOM paints feature a completely new formulation, exclusively by AMMO. They are a water-based and non-toxic acrylic, that behaves like a lacquer paint. They do not require the application of a primer, are extremely durable, and have an incredible self-leveling ability. These factors result in a paint that easier to use than our old acrylics. This new formulation is the result of the combined experience of the AMMO team. We hope you get a chance to try them soon! Jamie, AMMO Team
Good morning, As modelers, we should always choose the products that best suit our personal preferences and needs. At AMMO, our goal is to provide the best possible modeling solutions for modelers worldwide. ATOM paints feature an AMMO exclusive and unique new formulation, developed using the combined experience of our team. Unlike other water-based, non-toxic acrylics, they perform more like lacquers. These paints don’t require a primer, are highly durable, offer strong coverage across all colors, and possess excellent self-leveling properties. We hope you enjoy the video. Jamie, AMMO Team
Good morning Robert, Thank you so much for your comment and support. We really appreciate it. As they are both water-based paints, you can mix both the ATOM and traditional AMMO paints and auxiliaries. However, as ATOM has a unique formulation, you may find that using the classic products in combination with ATOM impacts their key features. For example, mixing an older color with an ATOM paint may impact the self-leveling of the ATOM paint. Regarding the other way around, the ATOM auxiliaries can be used with the older paints, however we recommend that you first do some tests on a piece of plasticard or old model. This is because you may find you need to change the dilution % to get the same result as you are used to. Thank you, Jamie, AMMO Team
Have tried every acrylic paint on the market and have to say Ammo work better than them all in an airbrush. I'm looking forward to this Atom range , only issue I have is I need to get them direct from spain as Ireland stores don't stock them

I have been using the Ammo paints a decent amount lately and overall I really like them. My only complaint is that the purple is nowhere close to purple, it’s way too light and reads as more of a desaturated violet. Which is odd because the purple from the Atom SmartPaint set is pretty much perfect.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We really appreciate it, and I will make sure to pass it on to my colleagues. We are happy to hear that you are overall enjoying working with ATOM paints. About more saturated colors: you may wish to stay tuned to our social media this coming weekend for news from Scale Model Challenge, where there will be an exclusive first look at new paints. We hope you will be able to join us! Jamie, AMMO Team
Obviously paint quality is important, but specifically as a modeler, what is important to me is twofold: First, are the paints formulated, labeled, and matched to established federal standard paint chips (e.g., FS, RLM, RAL, etc) Second, is the bottle itself labeled with the exact numbers and names of the colors matched to those standards?
It would be great, if you would state FS/RAL/BS, etc. number on the label. Also some very imprtant colours like FS 36231(cockpit colour of US jets) are missing.
Thank you so much for your feedback, the new user guide will help you with some of your doubts regarding color matches. It will be available soon and I will make sure to write to you here once it is. Thank you so much, Jamie, AMMO Team
These paints are great - but I'm disappointed with the time it's taken to release accurate RAF colours. The Early WWII RAF Set dark green and dark earth substitutes provided are too inaccurate to use. There are plenty of specific Luftwaffe and Russian AFV colours, but very few RAF ones.
I have to try them more, but I dont like the metalics too much. Some bottles I dont really know what colour to expect, they are too dense and don't mix well with water, but that is something to expect from metalics. Maybe I'll try the white, black and some base colour to check the range, but the metallics are fighting against me 🤣.
Good afternoon, Thank you so much for your comment, please do not hesitate to reach out to us if we can be of any assistance at all with troubleshooting. You can contact us via social media message or email. You may find that you prefer using the ATOM thinner when diluting the metallics. We will be waiting to help with any queries or questions, Jamie, AMMO Team
Good morning Martial, At this time, the social media team are unaware of any plans for a case. However, we are releasing more and more themed boxes and sets for specific topics which might be useful for your WWII AFV topics, such as our recent Late War German Camouflage set. I hope this helps, Jamie, AMMO Team
Good morning, Please do not worry, we will be happy to help with any issues you may have. When working with aggressive solvents it is important to allow the paint to dry completely, preferably a full cure of 24 hours. It is also important that the modelkit was cleaned before the application of paint, to avoid any mould release, grease, or dirt causing a barrier between the model and paint. However, if you continue to have an issue when working specifically with your decal solvents, you can varnish the area (or the full model) with a layer of Hard Rock Varnish A.MIG-2070 or A-Stand Aqua Gloss Clear A.MIG-2503. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of further assistance. We are always happy to help. Jamie, AMMO Team
I kind of have a mixed feelings about ATOM paints. Some colors like Khaki Green, Ochre, Dust, Desert Sand or US Desert Tan are nothing like on color chart or store page. Worst offender is Khaki Green should be light green but its dark yellow or mustard color. No idea if its was bad batch or something. On the other hand greens, blues, reds or metallic colors are really good.
Thank you so much for your comment Linas. We are happy to here that you are enjoying working with ATOM paints on the whole, and really appreciate the time you have taken to provide feedback. I will make sure to pass this on to my colleagues. Please know: we are always happy to help with any queries you may have, you can always contact us via social media message or email and we will be happy to support you, Jamie, AMMO Team
Absolutely a waste of money. Constant tip dry even at hi pressure & brush painting is c**p. Best use Tamiya paint or Mr Hobby. Although AK Real Colours are good.
Good afternoon, If you are having issues with dry tip, this may be due to environmental factors such as very dry and warm conditions. This situation can be improved by diluting your paint more, specifically with ATOM Thinner & Retarder ATOM-20511. The retarder increases the drying time of the paint, preventing issues with dry tip. Please do not hesitate to contact us, via social media or email, if you continue to have an issue. We are always happy to support you with troubleshooting. Thank you, Jamie, AMMO Team
I've been using this paint for a few weeks now and I got the majority of the paints. They airbrush really well. The metallics are good when brushed on. When brushed, they have a creamy consistency. The only issue is that they are hydroscopic and absorb water quickly on a wet pallet.
If you are using parchment paper, or something similar, this can definitely be a problem. I find they work much better with a less permeable paper like that used in Masterson Sta-Wet palettes.

Tell you me you don’t know how scale effect works with light and color without telling me lol.

Good morning,
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that you’ve enjoyed working with ATOM. Regarding thinners, we’ve recently released some new sizes, and they’re starting to appear in shops worldwide. Thank you so much for this video, I am about to restock my MIG acrylic colours and was planning to try ATOM paints as they look so much easier to use.
This video clarifies so much.
Could you provide needle size and pressure used for both airbrushes?
Good morning,
Thank you so much for your feedback, we think you will really enjoy working with ATOM.
I hope this helps,
Jamie, AMMO Team

You have MiG Antifatigue Turquoise, that's a plus
No drips or runs, amazing.
So they are similar to mission model paints maybe? I heard that you can do some really fine chipping by using the thinner to wet your brush.

Will Atom paints totally replace the older ones? Are the old thinner and retarder compatible with Atom? Can old paints and Atom paints be mixed?
The auto leveling seems great, it would nice to have some gloss paints to get directly a shiny results for cars, etc.
Good morning,
As water-based acrylic paints, you can combine ATOM paints with older paints and auxiliary products. However, for the best results, it's advisable to use only ATOM paints and auxiliary products. This is because ATOM has a unique formulation with specific properties that can be affected by mixing with older acrylics.

Hello!
Can I use weathering products (filters, washes, and oils) over ATOM paints without applying before primer?
Good afternoon,
You can, but it is important to allow the ATOM paints to dry for a full 24 hours. This ensures that they are fully cured.
In addition, the kit should be washed before painting to make sure there is no mould release from the moulding process, or debris from the assembly purpose, which can create a barrier between the paint and the plastic.
Thank you,
Jamie, AMMO Team
Like to try these, where can I get that chart from? Also, can they be used for weathering at all or are they best kept for base colours?
Thank you again,

How fast does this paint dry to the airbrush tip and start splattering?
Good morning Tony,
This question depends on multiple factors, including dilution, and environmental conditions like dryness and humidity. However, if you have any issues with dry tip, we produce a thinner with retarder which slows the drying of the paint. In the video, you can see Mig use this thinner and retarder when applying camouflage.
I hope this helps,
Jamie, AMMO Team

I will slowly be moving from your normal miG Ammo -> Atom... can the ATOM thinner/cleaner/retarder be used with MiG Ammo paints??
Good morning Robert,
Thank you so much for your comment and support.
Thank you,
Jamie, AMMO Team

Obviously paint quality is important, but specifically as a modeler, what is important to me is twofold:
First, are the paints formulated, labeled, and matched to established federal standard paint chips (e.g., FS, RLM, RAL, etc)
Second, is the bottle itself labeled with the exact numbers and names of the colors matched to those standards?
Yes
It would be great, if you would state FS/RAL/BS, etc. number on the label.
Also some very imprtant colours like FS 36231(cockpit colour of US jets) are missing.

I find that they don't hold up well at all to decal solvents-it lifts the paint :/
Good morning,
Please do not worry, we will be happy to help with any issues you may have.

I kind of have a mixed feelings about ATOM paints. Some colors like Khaki Green, Ochre, Dust, Desert Sand or US Desert Tan are nothing like on color chart or store page. Absolutely a waste of money. Constant tip dry even at hi pressure & brush painting is c**p. Best use Tamiya paint or Mr Hobby. Although AK Real Colours are good.
Good afternoon,
If you are having issues with dry tip, this may be due to environmental factors such as very dry and warm conditions.

I've been using this paint for a few weeks now and I got the majority of the paints. They airbrush really well. The metallics are good when brushed on. When brushed, they have a creamy consistency. The only issue is that they are hydroscopic and absorb water quickly on a wet pallet.
Thank you so much your feedback. It is great to hear you are enjoying working with ATOM paints.

If you are using parchment paper, or something similar, this can definitely be a problem. I find they work much better with a less permeable paper like that used in Masterson Sta-Wet palettes.
