- Watch these torque monster Turbo Diesel Trucks spool up and go down the drag strip while trying there best to keep it straight when the rear end wants to come around on them.
Unfortunately most of these clips will not have the time at the end of the race because they are shot at No Prep events that run an 1/8th mile track and no times at the end of the race to keep it a mystery as to what they ran.
But enjoy these Turbo Diesel Trucks rolling some coal and boost launching doing the drag strip and having fun.

Yeah but it's either too much power for the vehicle to handle or too much for the driver. He could barely make it down the track. Burned it up in the first clip.

Wtf did just see what I think was a Volvo wagon smoke a diesel truck at 1:55 watch the bottom of the screen the camera stays with truck on top but if you watch that wagon had 3 or 4 car lengths of the line & do not look like it was slowing down. That would damage the ego of that truck I'm thinking. LMFAO. 😅😂😅😂

All of that black smoke all the way down the track means they don't have enough turbo for the fuel they are dumping in. Add a bigger turbo. Retune, or both.

nope. They know exactly what they are doing. Peak vs average cyl pressures, egt, etc etc.
Different fuel and different reasons but methanol(alcohol) drag and pullers run a ridiculously rich fuel ratio. You just don't see it out of the exhaust.

A lot of the reason has to do with the cost of the racing site. Dirt oval is popular also. Oval and drag sites take less money to open. Many are or were privately owned.
within one hour drive time from my house there are 4 dirt oval tracks. ( Moeler, Peebles,Florence, Lawrenceburg) And 2 drag race tracks (Edgewater, Thorne Hill) And 2 motocross tracks (I do not know the names)
Almost every local government division (county) has a County fair(carnival) with truck and tractor pulls one time a year.
Small location racing is popular because the cost of the location is lower cost. There are many regular working people that race every weekend.
Many dirt oval tracks have economy car races in addition to the expensive cars.
The spectators are often participants.

you can only make as much power cleanly as the engine itself allows it. sadly it does no good shoving alot of nitrous just trying to get a clean burn
They smoke like that because the turbos havent spooled up enough yet to produce enough air to burn all the fuel. So they dump fuel in and wait for the turbos to kick in. Does kinda seem like a stupid way yo tune a motor but hey i dont really know much about anything.
It does because like people have probably already said you can only make so much horsepower with the clean burn because like each engine has a limit on how much horsepower it can make on a clean fully burnt combustion chamber, and so if you instead overload that with extra fuel, you make more power than what the engine is capable on a clean burn

If you replaced all of those diesel engines with electric ones, they would be at least as powerful as they are for the same size. But they wouldn't belch smoke, stench, and ear-splitting sound. My question is whether that is actually the draw and would this crowd stay home if the engines were electric. I'm curious about how other minds work when I don't share the same aesthetic values. If there weren't any stinky, loud engines then what would the same people be attracted to as an alternative?

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely a diesel fan but being on a track strip with non daily and non all terrain tires.......I just don't understand what the point is?
