You must be simple to think all hf radio,s are 2000 quid. So you didnt even take the time to see what the best radio was for your money hahaha you are a true muppet !!!
Very laid back and honest review, I like it. Yes I agree these small radio's are built as a jack of all trades at a cost. Also agree with you on the Grant 2 which I own. Thanks for sharing.
I just purchased one of these 9900 , for the car . but I agree with all your saying I have a superstar 3900 (silver face) which I have had for a very very long time lol and I love it brilliant radio and with the silver Eagle desk mic it sounds fantastic everywhere 😆 thanks for the video 7 3 for now 68WL777
Thumbs up,, I'm an older cb er ct1017 tried most of these modern radios and had a grant and this one my favourite is one I've just bought cart 7900 As you say you only get what you pay for ...like your reviews I've always been a free banded one day may take my foundation but no further ,,,and considering buying a ts2000 in a couple of months had more kenwoods than yeasue just recently sold my ts 850 and want some thing slightly newer keep up the vvids 73s Shane warks uk.
Any compact radio has its limitations, so it's not unique to this one. Even the Yaesu FT-857 has its shortcomings compared to bigger stuff. The advantage with these small cheap radios is that they are cheap so you wouldn't worry too much about having it in your car.
They're all being knocked out of China, just like your expensive Ham radios. This rig is 150 quid! Knocking out around +70w on ssb gets my vote for the money!
+Antonio Carvalho Get an Anytone AT 6666, same radio. There's a chap on ebay selling them. He trades as Radio Zing. Check it out on their website too...
Just got one. My internal speaker does not work? But when i push external speaker in ...comes to life.....either ext spk switch knakered..or speaker..or wire off...not opened yet
You get what you pay for.. The receive is very good on this rig.. @ 150 quid... Its a good package.. Not all can blow a wedge on a Yaesu or Kenwood.. I still run my old Jackson Mk1 occasionally that has put a Kenwood TS50 to shame..In certain conditions, ran threw the same Antenna.. Achilles heal The lack of adjustment on the clarifier TX side..
I have one of those in like new condition bought in Germany at the time but unfortunately I can't tune the Jackson into the UK 40Ch frequencies... I am looking for an affordable CB radio with similar functionality, hence I am checking out various reviews here on YT
At last someone who has spoke the truth, I've been saying the same thing about these radios since the AT5555 Anyclones styles was first out , I was saying the same thing like you there OK for what they are a cheap made radio but everyone thought I was just being bias cos I like and am a old skool radio user but its true what you said mate they a cheap made crap really , thanks mate it was nice to hear some real truth and not someone telling everyone bollox of how great radios they are who just happens to be a radio dealer who sells them ;) ;)
Listened to some of the reviews on here and i noticed the SSB receive sounds sharp and raspy... or is it me.... i have a RANGER 3500 (circa 1985) which sounds smooth and clear...... Agree totally on the GRANT 2 made by UNIDEN in there own factory... SSB is just like it should be!
No one will tell you this . But the Hy gain SPT-500 Super penetrator is the best 5/8 wave Vertical by far.. Blows Sirio and A99 Imax 2000 out of the water.. Radiowold.co.uk about 160 quid . Marketed for 10 and 12 meter band Amateur bands. Easily tuned to 11m band.. Quiet QRM.. That said huge ground radials..
I've got the same radio but I'm encountering severe technical issues. On some frequencies there's the message 'SWRHI' popping up. Would you know what that message is all about? Thank you for your input.
Can I ask you what radio you would buy if you had 180 quid to spend? Preferably something not too complicated and with a bit of power. All mode of course. Thank you.
This one (CRT- 9900) is A* Really Good* radio *rx-tx* for the 10 &11(CB) meters .My only complaint is ... the high temperature (HOT) went Tx .- I think one blower (Fan) solve the prombem.. .
They are true crap biggest scam going these new radio,s lol based them on the old sets and used the cheapest parts they could find , nothing like the older sets which are made way better
I'm thinking about grabbing on of these as I can't afford to by back my IC-7400. I don't expect it to come any where near the icom but I'm missing HF badly lol. is it that bad for 140 quid?
When you've used high end radio gear, radios like this seem cheap and nasty. For those up and coming that are new to hobby, these type of radios may seem like the bees knees... One thing that really bugs me with these type of radios is the lack of continuous VFO on SSB. Maybe I'm just too used to my Icom and Yaesu gear :-) Anyhow, cool video, nice and crisp footage, cheers!
There are no good radio on the market today for a compact radio ,I have a HR2510 and want to upgrade but I cant decide ,I just keep getting negative vibes ,I am thinking on getting a AT 6666 but ????
Chinese radios do have noisy receivers thats a well known fact, but I still think this particular one is good for the money especially now they are only £160! but I wouldnt advise anyone running the 9900 at full power for any lengthy period because ive heard of many that have gone pop doing that! lol. your comments on the President Grant 2 are interesting, and are no doubt because that radio is almost certainly made by Uniden. we all know Uniden stopped making `10m radios yonks ago, so its no surprise to hear that the Lincoln 2 is made by someone else...............infact its made by the same people who make the Anytone's and CRT radios.......................a company called Qixiang , although 'alllegally' to a higher standard than the Anytone gang. but its perfectly reasonable to assume the Grant 2 is manufactured by Uniden because they still make CB radios. infact, Thunderpole opened the covers on both radios, the Lincoln 2 and Grant 2 and claimed they were two totally different boards, and that the Lincoln 2 did infact closely resemble Anytone radios in its design, say no more. according to simon the wizard though, thats not necessarily a bad thing, and he openly stated that if he had to choose anyone to make a radio of this type, he would choose Qixiang. although thats down to a matter of opinion of course. (personally I would just get down on my knees to Uniden and beg them to produce another export radio lol) UPDATE 11/1/17: this radio has now increased in price to £180 in most places, which maybe due to the falling value of the pound??
President lincoln mk1. Uniden 2830. Cobra 148gtl dx. President jackson mk1. These are the best older sets pal just watch a youtube video to see how to work them if unsure, i like the lincoln mk1 as you have frequency readout for ssb cant go wrong !! But if you have £400 to spend then get a widebanded kenwood 570d that covers cb radio these have blown any cb ive ever used out of the water !!! Also sirio gainmaster is a beast !!!
I should have listen to you , I bought a ANYTONE 6666 I am so disappointed ,first of all the radio came total off frequency with the transmit and receive ,now I am shopping for something else and that radio got stored on the top of my bench, I may just put my pennies together and go for a YAESU FT 757 , they are old but when serviced well they are very good.
Anone out here that understands the repeater functions on this rig ? the user manual is not very clear on this subject. so if anybody can explain.. please do so
You could say that HF rigs are over priced , the tech not changed but the price's still goes up CRT, Anytone fill a gap .Not everyone can shell out, the Cobra ,Lincoln ,Are like Fords basic model for top dollar.
Yeah, I agree as have seen a couple RUclips videos about these 11 meters CB nets using these export rigs. I can't believe the noise these radio's generate on SSB and how much they are off frequency. Shocking IMHO
no, these are actually pretty good radios i have the AT6666 as good a receive as my yaesu 857 on 10/11m .. not sure what this video is all about really ..
Ya mentioned cobra 148,now theres a overated radio, ive had 2 not a fan very overated, yes they were built to last but cant think of anything else positive say about it.best old school radio was president Lincoln mk1,ive had 3 of those very good.as for 9900 ive just ordered 1 today, had 2 in the past and of todays 10/11 metre radios id say its the best, just keep power down and it should last years, but cobra 148 thumbs down from me
Seriously stay away from crap like this the outputs are set to do 60watts and dont last long i had one and blew in no time there simply marketed for idiots , not to mention the horrible cone shaped knobs and the hard to use menu driven crap screen. If you drive french cars, holiday in blackpool and have 10 cats then yes this could be for you .
Remember this is a £150 radio and not a £2000 Yaesu, for the money these are excellent, top knoch on Rx and Rx.
You must be simple to think all hf radio,s are 2000 quid. So you didnt even take the time to see what the best radio was for your money hahaha you are a true muppet !!!
Yes. Very good radios for the money. No complaints from me. Anytone 5555n, CRT6900, CRE8900 all fantastic radios. All under £200 as well.
Scrap metal dealer u m8
Great for knocking around in the van, never had a bad report with stock mic

mokotramp lol valid point! even some Yaesu gear comes from China
70 watts is 2 s-points more than with 5 watts... :D
Nope. All Yeasu gear comes from Japan. Yeasu stuff from China arte conterfeits.
Just got one. My internal speaker does not work? But when i push external speaker in ...comes to life.....either ext spk switch knakered..or speaker..or wire off...not opened yet

Still use a old President Jackson Mk 1 for receive and monitoring .. The ears are still amazing on those rigs..
I have one of those in like new condition bought in Germany at the time but unfortunately I can't tune the Jackson into the UK 40Ch frequencies... I am looking for an affordable CB radio with similar functionality, hence I am checking out various reviews here on YT
Just bought one of these, what antenna do you use please?

It's the best of the bunch apart from Grant2. Audio is ok really
@@133Gordini yoe have a bad taste in radio are you skint or summit
What would be the best home base aerial for this radio ? Great video.
No one will tell you this . But the Hy gain SPT-500 Super penetrator is the best 5/8 wave Vertical by far.. Blows Sirio and A99 Imax 2000 out of the water.. Radiowold.co.uk about 160 quid . Your SWR is to high, the radio is telling you to sort it!
your SWR is high. adjust antenna.
internal SWR meters are typically inaccurrate, I would always use an external meter.
Can I ask you what radio you would buy if you had 180 quid to spend? Preferably something not too complicated and with a bit of power. All mode of course. Thank you.
donal finn probably a President lincoln mk1 or cobra 148gtldx superstar 360.
Thank you for your reply.

I just got one of these radios for my mobile they are a good set but the filtering could be better !
26CT747 Hello Sam Greetings from 13CT747 :-)
you use this radio witha directional antenna and you will otice the difference...
Gareth Southall they are good providing you dont compare them with HF Amateur equipment.
I got a 7400 again now but one of these could be good for the 4X4.;)
Bought one of the Anytone 6666 and just got an IC 7300 for Christmas

Tech Minds exactly!!!
The receive on these radios always sound robotic, not smooth and warm. I will not be buying one, oldies are goldies.
I think it would be fun to try 10 meter mobile, but to buy a Yaesu, Kenwood og Icom just for that is too much I think.
There are no good radio on the market today for a compact radio ,I have a HR2510 and want to upgrade but I cant decide ,I just keep getting negative vibes ,I am thinking on getting a AT 6666 but ????
Kenwood 570d widebanded 👍 only buy decent shit m8 not crap like these new cb,s

repaters in fm are 29.00something -100 offset...
You didn't say what arieal you were using thanks ct1017 shane warks
Antenna was a vertical at 10m above ground.
You could say that HF rigs are over priced , the tech not changed but the price's still goes up CRT, Anytone fill a gap .Not everyone can shell out, the Cobra ,Lincoln ,Are like Fords basic model for top dollar.
president grant 2 sucks like hell, lincoln 2+ Ok CRT SS-9900 200 times better than grant 2 premium.Lincoln2+ better than CRT SS-9900
Yeah, I agree as have seen a couple RUclips videos about these 11 meters CB nets using these export rigs. I can't believe the noise these radio's generate on SSB and how much they are off frequency. Shocking IMHO
10, 11 and 12 metre rig for £160 new ?
Can't really slag it off
👍
just bought it from ebay. I'm Newbie :)
You dropped a bollock
Looks like the Anytone AT-6666.
That's because it is. Not bad little radio though.
+M0WBK Reviews
Have you ever tested the previous version being the AT-5555N? Which one is better in your opinion?
they are all made by a company called Qixiang same as the Lincoln 2. the AT5555N is actually the replacement for the AT-5555
looks good but collar and cuffs dont match
Like our lass
I had a couple of Grant 2's and found them terrible. Not a patch on older President Stuff. If this radio is any worse it must be seriously awful.
no, these are actually pretty good radios i have the AT6666 as good a receive as my yaesu 857 on 10/11m .. not sure what this video is all about really ..
2M0LDT it could be about comparing export radios with far more expensive HF gear! but he is correct about the noisy reciever.
SOUND VOICE TOO LOW MUST SPEAL LOUDER
90 watts ssb ,, .? My one must have been broken that didn't do 90 watts on ssb
shaneweightman: They do about 60 Watts on SSB.
Hi ya I do think you are right they are not very good although people rave about it. Run too hot, controls too fiddly not for me don’t like it.
Ya mentioned cobra 148,now theres a overated radio, ive had 2 not a fan very overated, yes they were built to last but cant think of anything else positive say about it.best old school radio was president Lincoln mk1,ive had 3 of those very good.as for 9900 ive just ordered 1 today, had 2 in the past and of todays 10/11 metre radios id say its the best, just keep power down and it should last years, but cobra 148 thumbs down from me
90 watts SSB 😂😭😂 pull the other it's got bells on LMAO
More like 30 watts ssb!
Mine does 60w into a Daiwa meter and dummy load
Seriously stay away from crap like this the outputs are set to do 60watts and dont last long i had one and blew in no time there simply marketed for idiots , not to mention the horrible cone shaped knobs and the hard to use menu driven crap screen.
