It took me awhile as I am always creating, but it was the first book I finished reading this year. I've always loved the provincial spirit of books like this and it definitely made me imagine this story with some of its influences!
My husband gifted me the HoomBand and it’s made the best experience with sleeping to your created locations. This one was hilarious because the rain on the tin roof had me blink awake occasionally looking around the room for that noise. I assumed it was the gentle feathers of a dreamcatcher under the fan. I didn’t realize it was part of my story moment until I was at the end and the rain took over.I was like…. Wow this headphone band is amaaazing! This reminds me of the same magic and tranquility experienced staying at Houmas House just a short drive west of Nola. Giant beastie AND tiny chihuahua companion approved. I can definitely see a Michelle story inspiration visit if you’re ever deep swamp south. You’d love it, I’d suggest not summer though 🔥
That's amazing-- I'm glad you're enjoying it-- I spent many years hurting my poor ears with earbuds. I'm glad that is conjured these memories and hope it continues to evoke great feelings and help you sleep! And yes, I have seen some deeply discounted flights to Nola in August and I wouldn't dare visit until October.
Yes! Im so excited for this! Your other Bayou story is one of my favorites and you have the best cabin stories ever! Putting them both together is amazing. I can't wait. Thank you for giving so much of your time and energy to make us feel happy and secure! You are a very bright light, and I appreciate you so much!
I am so glad you enjoy that one-- for some reason it is one that went unnoticed and I wanted to revisit it in a different way. Such a beautiful, soothing setting for sleep. Thank you! 💜
@MichellesSanctuary both the original and this awesome new take are FABULOUS. I hope everyone enjoys this and listens to the original Bayou! They truly represent what great stories you create. So wonderful and helpful for a relaxing way to fall asleep. I'm so happy you did this! Thank you!😊
Omg i adore the imagery in this. You’re such a master Michelle. Your love for writing is absolutely apparent, and it’s so inspiring. You invoke such beautiful visualizations. AND you’ve inspired me in many ways. I started writing poetry again, for example ❤
Congratulations on getting back to writing poetry again! Thanks for trusting me on your sleep journey and I'm so glad you enjoyed the visuals in this one. 🌙
Whenever I hear the word Bayou I immediately hear “born on the bayou” by credence clear water and start to sing along making my voice as gravely as Fogerty. I sound terrible though. Would love to see jazz heritage there. Weren’t we just there? Is it Sunday yet? My subconscious Lilith, that’s what I call her keeps telling me lies about what day it is. Looking forward to this
I hear Linda Rondstadt and Beausoleil. I think Jazz Heritage comes after Mardi Gras, but there’s some other festival in October, probably the best time to go; I went in August, 2010. Yeesh.
There are far too many great songs about it. I'm glad your subconscious is a woman-- and I've personally had my conscious mind confuse days since about three years ago today. With a focus on the city of New Orleans, I wanted to get back to the more provincial offerings of the bayou.
This was a good one! I enjoyed my trip to the bayou. Rented a cabin over the water and we fished and caught blue crabs. In the last night a gator ate our trap. Ha ha. Great experience.
I'm so very thankful that I found you months ago. I suffer from chronic pain and it's very difficult to sleep even with Rx sleep meds, but your wonderful stories and calming voice has been able to null me to sleep countless restless nights. I listen to you during the day when I need to escape the pain that my body traps me in. I told my PCP about your page and she is sharing with other patients who need your help. Thank you so much. Please continue making these wonderful stories.
Oh I live with chronic pain too and have found Michelle’s channel so helpful over the past few years! I used to suffer with severe insomnia when I came across her channel and it has helped so so much. People don’t realize how many aspects of your life chronic pain can affect. Take care and cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 😊
Thank you so much for having along for your journey and I hope that my work continues to help. It's such a hard cycle, because sleep certainly can make pain lessen but it's hard to sleep when pain interrupts. I hope you continue to find rest and a mental escape. Thank you for sharing it with your PCP-- when our body becomes an uncomfortable place to be, our imagination is something that can help us get to someplace more comforting. Sending love and many wishes for more mental getaways. 💜
You are so welcome! I'm so glad that this one resonates-- I wrote about the bayou long ago and wanted to revisit with some rain sounds and cozier vibes. Sweet dreams!
We know how much words truly matter. Here within Michelle’s latest sleepstory are many beautiful words I should use more in everyday speech. We can’t think without words, and lovely words spread lovely thoughts: Languidly, Placid, Glide, Tranquility, Glossy, Serene, Solace, Serenade, Vibrato, Resonant, Skirt (v.), Soaring, Frolicking, Tidings, Lush, Pastels, Tapestry, Timeless, Embark, Nestled, Cloaked, Coppery, Shimmer, *a jolly raccoon dance!* Plush, Abundant, Cascades, Lulling, Exotic, Vibrant.
Yes, I have been told many times to simplify, but I love so many words, I realized that it best to use them and hope contextually they are enjoyed regardless.
Thank you so much, Michelle! 😉😊 This is now my favourite sleep story of yours! I really appreciate the boat, the pet (my dog!), the water and the wildlife. And I loved the dock leading to the wonderful rustic wooden cabin - a far more charming one than I could have ever imagined! You put your own signature stamp on the story and taught me all about the waterways in the Bayou - a magical place I’d never even heard of before (being British!). Animals in general and my own dog in particular have brought me a sense of comfort, security and peace that I never knew was even missing during my younger years. But now, having finally experienced being so close to animals and nature, I know I could never go back to the kind of life I lived before. Animals that are family members have a way of bringing unexpected joy and love to one’s life and demonstrate a magical ability to mentally and even physically help or heal those of us who give them our full hearts as well as all our care. I have been saved, comforted and healed by my boy Cavalier, Misha, more times than I can remember, and he has been the only one to prove to me that living with a chronic mental illness (depression) as well as a chronic physical illness (fibromyalgia) is not only possible, but can also be a life full of love and joy. No medic has ever even suggested this could be an option for me - the ability to live a fulfilling, meaningful and joyous love despite being afflicted by two major chronic diseases which have no cure. It took this pup coming into my life to show me the way forward, and to also show me that the love you feel for and receive from a being from a different species can actually be the greatest and most healing love of all. Thank you again for touching my heart with this wonderful sleep story, Michelle! I really am so very grateful you included so many wonderful details from my request! 😊 ❤ 🐾
This made my night-- and I am so glad you ventured to give it a try not being familiar with the location! Animals have remarkably healing powers and as someone who has relied so much on the constant companionship of my pup, I understand and am so glad you found one another and could enjoy taking your pup along on this journey. I hope this story continues to bring peace and sleep and spark that connection with Misha!
@@MichellesSanctuary Thank you so much, Michelle! I was so touched by this story in particular - it almost felt as if it was written just for me! 😄Aren’t dogs the best thing in the world?! I meant to add, I loved the library in the cabin too! As an author of teen fiction, that was such a very special touch for me! You are a true inspiration, Michelle. Even as a novelist myself, I have no idea how you come up with such unique and wonderful stories on such a regular basis! That would be a real challenge for any seasoned author! I really think you should collate some of your favourite stories and approach some publishers with the view of publishing a collection of relaxing short stories to read before bed. The owner of the podcast Nothing Much Happens - Sleep Stories for Grownups, a lovely lady called Kathryn Nicolai, did exactly that after I suggested it to her and told her how to go about it, and now she is the proud author of a book of her podcast stories, published by a traditional publisher, with a second book on the way! If you need any guidance I’d be more than happy to help! ♥️ I can totally see a collection of your stories turned into a book of short stories with lovely, inspiring illustrations or photos to go with it!! And all your subscribers would buy it for sure! Plus you have the perfect platform to advertise it on! 😊
This has helped me fall asleep when I was struggling (I still am struggling to sleep on occasions). I have nights with four hours of sleep when my body wouldn’t let me sleep at all. I also love your voice. It is like chocolate, it is silky smooth and flows cleanly. It is also sweet but not too sweet. I am sleeping so much better with this. Thank you.
I love this one! The pace is nice and slow and the "activity" is to a minimum, too. Some stories are so full of stuff to do they make me tired...lol. This is great for encouraging relaxation. Not too "people-y" (no other active human characters), which I love sometimes.
This sounds incredible! I can't wait to listen! I loved the New Orleans one, complete with beignet powdered sugar sprinkles on my clothes, an experience i highly recommend, but am really looking forward to a total snoozefest Louisiana one too, and this sounds like it's the ticket. I appreciate how the pace of your stories can vary from one to another, accomodating different moods and desires of your grateful listeners ♡
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I felt my original bayou story didn't get as much traction a few years ago and this would be a good follow-up to New Orleans! Thanks for taking the time to write such kind comments (and I have been making Cafe Du Monde chicory coffee at home for the past two weeks so I am sure it's had an impact as I write!).
My fourth listen, late afternoon Tue., just to chill out before responsibilities. Before this RUclips machine, I’d put on Steely Dan’s ‘Aja,’ or Shawn Colvin’s ‘Cover Girl,’ or any Kenny Rankin album. “The Record Shop” kept me fascinated for some days too. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I researched several of the new and more comfortable ear bands. Too much radiation. I don't care what anyone else says, I don't walk through xray machines, I won't use a microwave, and I don't hold my phone. I'm certainly not going to add to the radiation we're already getting in the air!
@@kgoodridge1 are these all bluetooth devices? Do what makes you comfortable. I know for some time Hoomband made a traditional 3mm wired version that I have.
@@yonitznkc Congratulations on surviving the total wreck of your car, although I fail to see your correlation between that and radiation. Perhaps you haven't researched the studies well enough. I'm very in tune with the workings of my body and the irregular beating of my heart lets me know I'm too close to a radiation source so I avoid taking possible negative reactions. Listening to music or talking to friends is a personal freedom that you are lucky to have. Michelle had a good suggestion about looking for plugin earbands that I will research further. However, for me, the cost is prohibitive and I can hear her excellent meditations without anything in or on my ear. Another unfortunate reality is that the cost of earbands is prohibitive, even with her generous discount.
