    Mr. Candy was an amazing actor and his comedic timing was pitch perfect. My 12yr old son has just discovered Candy's work so it's great to rediscover his work, but more importantly....Let's Mambo!!!....

      +Sergio Lobato I don't hate celebrities but when you hear the news that one dies I usually don't really care, but when John Candy died I really was sad. I loved him. I still think about how I wish he was still around. John Candy's death was literally the only time in my life that I was truly bummed out when a celebrity passed away. He was truly one of a kind.

    There is a documentary about John Candy on RUclips somewhere. I watched it and he was a very nice man. One part he was at a airport passing through after a really long day. Someone noticed him and wanted his autograph. He took the time to stop and sign an autograph for this guy. He made small talk with the guy and was very kind. RIP John Candy. Many people miss you even still today.

      So, despite being an A-List Hollywood star, John Candy could go around town like a regular guy doing regular things and having problems like other regular people had? That would explain how he was able to be the quintessential "everyman" in his movies and shows

    I met John through a friend that was part of a Private filming done for a TV where they had worked for the production Company and invited me to sit in and see it.
    He was from my area and I knew the High School he went to plus we both collected the older metal bottle caps that was a big deal into the early 1960's .
    I had met him again 12 years later at a Hotel lobby where he was staying prior to being at a Football game for the team he was a part owner of. I spoke to him about talking to him 12 years earlier and he remembered the TV show and the one guest that was with him which I described to prove i was there in the Private filing .
    He was taller than I expect and had freckles , he was also the same person after 12 years and just as kind to me and let him head up to his room after a minute of talking.

      I found out the same year that he passed, which was a month before my 9th birthday. Only the Lonely was the first movie of his that I saw. It was a romantic drama, but it showed that beyond his amazing comedy talent, he was a natural at dramatic roles too.

    John seems like a lovable person although he seemed difficult with writers and directors. That is fine, if you are the writer or director..if your the hired hand then you shouldn't have that much to gripe about.

    • @buffalobraves9
      @buffalobraves9 9 лет назад +13

      On the contrary, John was a kind and understanding person with everyone he came in contact with including the writers and directors. John had the ability to see the character he was playing better than those who wrote and directed him and he often would inject his opinion as to how it should be played. Looking back at his stable of classic moments that's hard to argue with. One view of his scene in JFK shows just how wide a range his acting ability was. From what Oliver Stone said Candy nailed it in one take doing it better than anyone expected of him.

    You can see john candy has taken alot of abuse in his life, and he handles it well.
    The interviewer strangely did appreciate he pissed of john here, and you notice how he came back bringing john back to be comfortable.
    Not many in hollywood would be people, that have taken much abuse in there lifes, and john candy must of been strange for the types in hollywood, a person whom was not an ego maniac, with total narcissism.
    Planes trains, and automobiles, will always be my fav comedy ever. I still remember when at school, seeing it, i found it so funny.
    He must of been really out of place in hollywood, but you can see here, he has taken some abuse in his life, and he handles the person trying to laugh at him, well. But i found it funny the interviewer knew he upset him, and tried to make john comfortable again. Its good that although the interviewer hurt johns feelings, he understood this, and made john comfortable again.
    It was a nice interview. But like i said, you can see, john probably took alot of abuse in his life.
    RIP geezer.
