So they’re not, AESA radars form a single beam as well as any other radar (both MSA and PESA) and scan the zone by following their scan patterns just like any other radar, 2 things are: 1 - scan speed is indeed better (for modern AESA and PESA radars it is presumably around 4s to scan 60x60 zone), 2 - once the radar finds a target AESA radars have 2 options: first is to track target using the same algorithm as PESA radars (continuing scanning but periodically illuminating targets that were detected before) which gives it an ability to not lose in max range of the radar. And the second one is to split the beam and continuously illuminating detected targets via those “secondary-beams” while still continuing searching for new targets via “main-beam”. This gives them an ability to update info about already detected targets instantly but the further the targets are and the more of them there - the less range the radar has (range decreases SIGNIFICANTLY with every additional target). Currently both Rafale’s AESA and Su-34’s PESA use 1st method and both have lower (but not by much) scan speed than estimated scan speed of relatively new AESA and PESA radars

About missiles, now France have 8 of them with the current F4 variants of the Rafale, but modified F3 for Indian already got 8, and i've read actual pylons ingame (for this F3 variant) could take the 8 MICA (they have been tested with), so it's a Gaijin choice here to keep to 6 missiles max, perhaps for balance, or to keep a later upgrade to come ingame usefull. And about the flares, IRL they are intelligent flare, better than basic small or large flare, they mimic the rafale heat signature, so stronger flares than usual, saddly Gaijin have not modeled that so we are stuck to 32 basic large flares. Or it can use basic small flare, in bigger number than 32 but i don't have the number for that. Hope all of this change in the future.

All the F15s 16s and 18s when they come will have data link those in game will get data link they should have already gotten it its strange that 2 planes get it and its not ones that we know 100% has. But I 100% agree with you on this jet its nuts with the mic's I love firing them from low aspect or max 2000 at 7-9k and nothing they can do to stop it well very little

@@astrogumbie2399 first fighter in the US to get AESA was the f15 in 2000, the first in the world was the Japanese by a month. Before that they used extremely powerful mechanical arrays. The APG63 v3 and the APG 82 v1 are both vastly superior to any other radar set in game atm tho.
Yes hold the mouse over the pilot or radar set in xray view and it will say data link and how many targets it can track at the bottom. F16c and a10 are the only other planes I know of that have it
@@Past10Performance I don't see it in either the Pilot or Radar x-ray. The IFF shown there in the Pilot is related to the RWR and the Datalink on the radar is related to the ARH missiles.

Excelent vidéo as usual. I have questions about the dogfight capacity of the rafale tho. What do you rhink of it in sim ? I found myself struggling alot with it, basicaly loosing every dogfight even against su's when i almost always win in the mirage. Any tips ?
bro you should check out the mirage f1c. i was playing it in sim and it was doing really well. the 530Fs were ignoring chaff even after the radar went for it and it was doing good overall.
also Just came back after stopping this January. I got to say, the Rafale looks amazing, very sleek in design. any tips on grinding the french tech tree? Some gems to play. im only around 6.0 ish in the French tech tree.
Red Team is saved! For real though, Blue mains yall need to not rage quit. Grind your funny Typhoon so we can have good matches. The matchmaker is more balanced. Also this meta shift is going to force blue players to actually properly fly their plane. The f16 is still really good against the new planes. I had a great 1v1 vs a good f16 pilot yesterday and yes I won but only because he ditched out of the rate fight and tried to reset and I was able to just put guns on em
I don't really understand how you can say the Mica is a good missile it's nerfed to the ground have half it's range and wiggles like crazy after launch losing all it's speed while getting flared by everything, literally any other missile is better than it.
Hey I'm wondering if I can get some help from someone who might be closer to Gaijin to help resolve a problem I've been having. I play on mac, and there is a bug that makes it impossible to use a hotas/joystick, but I have one and would like to play sim with it. It something very simple to fix, but I need it to get into Gaijins attention. I have filed a bug report but it won't get the attention it needs. I'm not expecting anything, I'm just trying to get some help to resolve the issue, I thought you might be sympathetic to a fellow simmer, though I am not sure what kind of contact you have with the devs. Cheerio :)

Yes they do have Link 16, that's been a thing for ages, they're made for network centric warfare. All F3Rs had OFS, they only had few when it was a new system. The HMD was a balance choice, no different from the Gripen C's. But keep living in imagination station

the rafale radar buff basically means that all TWS tracks are constantly updated independently of where the radar is "pointing"
