Most enjoyable 49 minutes of my day, for sure! Yeah, freezer meals and holiday cooking and baking are right around the corner, I love this time of year.
When I was pregnant with my son, I heard so many different stories about how my life would change. But, what nobody told me was that I would forget to take care of myself while taking care of him.
Yes, its the motherly instinct to keep our babies safe and happy.., so we often continue to think of how to stay a step ahead to keep their day going smooth.
Me: *getting ready to prep my onions for the week* Kim: “chilled onions do not make you cry” Me: *throws onions in the fridge and goes to lay on the couch*

I’m an instructional assistant in kindergarten. I could write a book on strange things I’ve had to say. Forget “Kids say the darnedest things” it should be “Kids make you say the darnedest things”.
I have only been subbed for a couple weeks but I can't get enough of Kim's bubbly personality! The self deprecating humor and *realness* is refreshing and gives such a sense of camaraderie in motherhood!!💗💯 What no one told me about motherhood: personally, my sense of smell is insane and I'm sure I could be hired to sniff bombs at this point. 😂
I love egg cups as a prep ahead breakfast! They pop out easier if you have a silicon muffin tin (I guess its not a tin then but I dont know what else to call it ... Muffin tray?) AND they're INCREDIBLE with a little tater tot crust. Heat the tots in the microwave, you need three per muffin. Put three in each little cup and smash them down with a juice glass so they make a crust. Bake them for about 15 minutes so they get crispy before adding the eggs. SO GOOD but I am a carb girl. Definitely healthier your way but I know you've said Mr Wentworth loves his tots. This was fun, thanks for keeping us such good company when company is hard to come by.
Hey Kim! I love your videos! Gives me such inspiration for the week! Just a tip for the eggs because I do have an instant pot. Try 4 min instead of 5. Take them out immediately when they are done. The ice bath really does make the difference. 5 min in the ice bath and then they always peel in 1-2 pieces. Also mom life is so real. We are fostering to adopt our little guy and he's been such a joy but yes mom life and Mom brain is so real.

Kim, if you don’t have ice you can stick the bowl in the freezer. I would stick it in the freezer for at least 20-30 minutes. You could also put about a cup of water in the bowl before freezing it. The ice water helps to stop the cooking process quickly, which supposedly makes them easier to peel. I’ve also found that having your eggs at room temperature helps them to cook more evenly. When using the stove I also put vinegar and salt in the water.
If you watch "Good Eats", Alton Brown explains why you cry chopping onions and how to make eggs easy to peel! :) Loving the 80s montage music at the beginning. Also, I want to make the donut muffins they sound amazing!!!
@@thewadsquad Me too which is why you are the food network star of youtube. lol I was watching another youtube lady cooking and she had a recipe she said takes just minutes but it had about six chopped veggies/herbs/etc in it. It was still a fast recipe but she transitioned to a bowl of perfectly separated veggies in her salad bowl that she did NOT show herself chopping and julienned carrots (prob from. a bag, no shame in that but she had cut up part of a cabbage and I was needing to see the cabbage mess along with the awesome recipe.) I like to see Kim's channel b/c she shows the actual work of cooking and the flubs and fixes and "it's ok like this" or whatever b/c that's real cooking. She has motivated me to chop more veggies and fruits for myself and my own fam of just myself and partner but I also cook for my dog so there is always something cooking here. I cook a lot of scratch recipes also and try to fly through them also and seeing Kim just makes me smile and know I'm not alone in the kitchen reality.

My 16 year old loves the energy balls!! She’s away at boarding school and I visit her almost every weekend and energy balls is something she always asks me to bring her. I keep a bin in my pantry labeled energy balls that I keep the ingredients in.

I have also found that if I get a stubborn one, peeling it under running water helps release the shell from the egg.
We all love spinach to.. Tip.. When you have a bit of shell off.. Use a spoon to take the rest of the shell off.. It just pushes up between egg and shell/skin.. Really quick and easy.... Takes almost the whole shell/skin off in one. Can you give us a link for your reusable bags please?? Great video... All your mum comments made me smile.. It's so true.. I never thought I would say, “no we don’t eat spiders, spit that out!” Also, no one ever told me that with your first child you love so deeply and so much that when the next child comes you feel sad thinking they won’t feel that love. Lo and behold, who knew you had so much true, deep love that is equally split between your children. That was an actual fear of mine, my kids are 8 years apart so it was a long time being the one and only. I’m pretty sure he’s handling it way better than me.

The trick with the eggs must be the ice because I dump a ton of ice on my eggs so they are very chilled before peeling. The shells come off in one or two pieces. This was so fun to watch! You make cooking look fun!

I've binged watched you most of today, as I wasn't feeling great today, but you inspired me as we've done a ton of stock up shopping and almost all the harvesting is done from the garden just Carrotts, beets, and turnips left, I think those will come out of the ground tomorrow, I still have 3 cloves heads of garlic to plant, then i'm gonna start doing some major cooking. Oh yeah almost forgot I have potatoes to harvest too.
When you peel hard boiled eggs, hit the fat end on the counter, and start peeling there. There's some air space from the egg shrinking a little when the cooked, so it makes it easier to peel. I also have either running water or a bowl of water, to dip the egg in to, in order to make sure all the tiny pieces are removed.
No one told me that you only have 18 summers to teach and mold your children with everything you need them know about God and life before you let me go into the world!! I make egg cups for work every other week and oatmeal the other week. I use precubed ham and onions and my mandolin for the peppers. I love the sheet pan veggie/sausage dinner you do!! I've been doing green beans and sugar snap peas.
I recently saw someone cook their eggs and then when they’re done they crack the shell so the cold water can get in there which I guess makes it easier to peel. Haven’t tried it myself but I’m going to next time I make hard boiled 🥚! Love your videos! You crack me up!

The trick with the eggs must be the ice because I dump a ton of ice on my eggs so they are very chilled before peeling. The shells come off in one or two pieces. This was so fun to watch! You make cooking look fun!

I've binged watched you most of today, as I wasn't feeling great today, but you inspired me as we've done a ton of stock up shopping and almost all the harvesting is done from the garden just Carrotts, beets, and turnips left, I think those will come out of the ground tomorrow, I still have 3 cloves heads of garlic to plant, then i'm gonna start doing some major cooking. Oh yeah almost forgot I have potatoes to harvest too.

When you peel hard boiled eggs, hit the fat end on the counter, and start peeling there. There's some air space from the egg shrinking a little when the cooked, so it makes it easier to peel. I also have either running water or a bowl of water, to dip the egg in to, in order to make sure all the tiny pieces are removed.

The best way to start the morning
I make egg cups for work every other week and oatmeal the other week. I use precubed ham and onions and my mandolin for the peppers. I love the sheet pan veggie/sausage dinner you do!! I've been doing green beans and sugar snap peas.
The thing that makes sour cream donuts so good is nutmeg! Trust me.

I recently saw someone cook their eggs and then when they’re done they crack the shell so the cold water can get in there which I guess makes it easier to peel. Haven’t tried it myself but I’m going to next time I make hard boiled 🥚! Love your videos! You crack me up!
