Lamu is one of Kenya’s best worst kept secrets. And we have been lucky enough to spend a ton of time there, staying in a wide variety of accommodation. So in our upcoming travel vlogs we will be giving your tours of all of the best accommodation in Lamu and Shela!
The first in this series is an oasis in the middle of Shela Village. Jua House is situated in the heart of Shela. Different to most accommodation on the island, in the sense that it is not very close to the water. But this isn’t an issue at all. Besides the magnificent rooftop view, being situated in the village is a unique and great experience. Allowing you to get a more local experience, while still having the luxury of the water front houses.
Lamu continues to grow in popularity, and it’s easy to see why. And part of the appeal is the rich culture of the area. So getting to experience that on your doorstep is a definite plus.
We highly recommend Jua House if you are visiting Lamu and Shela. And we hope our vlog convinces you to stay there! We feel like it is a great place to stay, especially if you are on a bit more of a budget.
