Honestly this game was a big part of why I grew to love Venom so much, he was the first spiderman villain I attached to and it's also why I loved them using comedy Venom for the Venom movies, not only can he be a scary carnivorous alien monster that mimics spidermans powers but he somehow manages to be an even bigger dork than spiderman himself at the same time.
Ah yes the game that introduced me to the world of the Web-Head. I loved this game as a kid and even as an adult I replay it every now and then. Might also be the game that introduced me to heavier music as this game has some real bangers. Rino Romano will always be THE Spider-Man for me and it's both awesome and sad to hear Stan Lee's voice in this. Rest In Peace you legend. Awesome video by the way!!!

Had the N64 version of Spider-Man 2000 back in the day. Sure was a blast to play. I was already a Spidey fan thanks to the 90s cartoon show, so I wasn't that confused when playing this. Yeah I agree Rino Romano is kinda underrated as Spidey's voice. Though I didn't care much for Spider-Man Unlimited, he was still great in the role and I'm glad he got a second shot at playing him for these early 2000s games. He's pretty much tied with Chris Barnes as my favorite Spidey voices.

This game was my introduction to Spider-Man and I've been a fan ever since. Also the best Mysterio of all time. I think Mysterio is so well liked because while he's sometimes a joke villains since he has no powers, he can be a serious threat if he puts his fishbowl into it.
Monster Ock's voice was spine-chilling... Add to that the explosions going around everywhere and even the Spider Sense going off constantly... Brought such a huge amount of stress to me as a kid. That comedic ending with the villains was sorely needed to bring some levity after having to change my shorts 😂

My love for this game is like a truck (preferably one driven by Venom). I grew up with the Spider-Man show of the 90's, which is why I got this game, but the emphasis on collecting the comics is what got me to realize, "Oh yeah...This was a comic book before it was a cartoon" and I fell for comics HARD after that. I can confirm that not knowing the comics before going into this game will leave you confused (the only cameo I recognized back then was Daredevil, since he appeared on the 90's show and I remembered it), but it's a fun romp if you know the broad strokes of Spidey and a little bit of the wider Marvel Universe. Funny this video mentions favorite Spidey castings, because Christopher Barnes and Rino Ramano have always been the voices for Spidey when I read him (based on whose voice I remember better at the time)! Glad to finally know who voiced Webhead in the games and that he was in Unlimited as well!
You'd be surprised, while most adaptions have warped the public perception into thinking Venom is a villain, that isn't the case in the comics. Eddie has spent most of his life as a character as a good guy and until Donny got a hold of him Eddie was really goofy. Most comic Venom fans actually are against making Venom a villain and every attempt to give the symbiote a villainous host has failed. If you ever want to try to get into the actual Venom comics, I can recommend Venom's original "run" of mini series after mini series (Marvel editorial hates Venom as much as MJ and originally refused to give Venom their own book) that both Venom movies directly adapted for their plots and Mike Costa's run starting with the Land Before Crime TPB which while still goofy has a much better consistent writer. The only problem this game's Venom has is Eddie is a photojournalist for the Daily Bugle and tries to kill MJ, something he would never do even in his villain days in the comics. Otherwise the game's adaption is on point. MJ also really wasn't a damsel in most Spider-Man comics, thats another thing adaptions have done to warp people's perception.

Mysterio is the best Spider-Man villain. Villains like Scorpion or Mysterio are only physical threats. To cause damage the have to physically be in an area, and they can only affect things near them. When fighting them, Spider-Man always knows where the thing he's fighting is, and he can generally take them down by punching them enough. Mysterio isn't like that. When he's at his most dangerous, he gets into Spider-Man's head, and he can fool people to turn them against Spider-Man. When fighting Mysterio, Spider-Man can't tell what's real and what's not. Sure, Mysterio's quite physically weak, but that's not much help when Spider-Man can't even see where he is. Unlike Scorpion and Rhino for the most part, Mysterio can affect massive areas. There can be a lot more on the line than a few buildings. Also Mysterio is the best boss in the game.

I never owned a play station growing up, but I had this for the Nintendo 64 and later the PC when it came out. I still quote the cutscenes to this day. There was also a great demo version you could get in a cereal box that gave Spidey a 2002 movie texture. This game along with Pokemon Gold was my whole childhood and I played it all the time. I always wanted to play Enter Electro but never did until recently. Great video
2:12 I remember when I was a kid I used to go to the comic book store looking for the comics I saw from the game, because I thought they were real comics you could actually buy. You wouldn't believe the disappointment I felt every time I'd leave the store without those comics in my hands. Edit: Unrelated, but apparently I've already seen this video, proven by how I've already left a like on the video, that I must have added when I first watched it. There was no red line under the video saying I've already seen it. But, guess I'll watch it again.

This game honestly deserves the remake treatment. Though idk if the game on it's own is strong enough to stand on it's own in today's market so it'll be cool if they remade the second game Enter Electro as well and bundled the games together as a seamless story, or something. I think one of the lead devs on this game even stated an interest on remaking the game so there's definitely interest, a shame Activision lost the Marvel license though, feel like that might be a massive roadblock unless Marvel partners with Activison again.

Everytime I read comics and a Venom speech bubble comes up. I hear this Venom voice. Also had this on the Sega Dreamcast so better Graphics than PS1. But when Sega went out of business and I had to get PlayStation 2 I got this game for the PlayStation 1 because backwards compatibility so no kicking dirt on the PlayStation one version both versions are good.
Thiis game makes spider man be super cool. Spider Man in these days are too dramatic, a lot of epic songs and etc. This game have rock music, guitar, the spidey/peter voice is cool, he is funny... all these things bring the spirid of what Spider Man was in 90's. If Spider Man ps4 has more of these features, he could be perfect.
I played the Dreamcast version. This port was released a year later, and it fixed the more obnoxious parts of the gameplay. Every time I see someone playing the PS1 version, they run into quite a few problems in certain missions like the Venom race. The Dreamcast port fixes this.
this game was my childhood and only really finished it in my teens, and I still love it funny finding out that you dont like carnages voice, to me its my favourite haha. To me it sounds completely lunatic, specially that laugh. That voice to me perfectly fits a crazed serial killer who not only wants to kill, but gut and chop people down to little itty bitty pieces while also having the time of his life like the true demented freak he is also I dont think they forgot about spideys suit webs. This game also has a pc version and on it he has them and actual fingers. I think it had something to do with a level of detail that the ps1 couldnt process
That final boss got me stuck as a kid. After that first corridor, I didn't know where go. I thought it was a dead end! After a long while, I realized there was a vent and after that, it took a few more tries till I got it. Was surprised it was the final level.
Played this on the n64 I didn't know motion video cutscenes. I wanted a ps1 really bad. I missed out. But now I have a ps1 slim. It rocks with nostalgia
This game understands Venom so well. They can be big, intimidating, and make 3-year-old me scared silly, but at the end of the day they're 50 different flavors of dumbass, and I wouldn't have them any other way.

Spider-man dosen't have web on costume due to limitations of ps1 I think. Because pc version is better looking and his costume displays web. By the way enjoyed video, a lot keep up the good work.

One of my childhood games and one of the best. So glad I grew up with this. They nailed Venom in this, honestly. First game I’ve seen that makes use of his comic abilities to go invisible. Also Monster-Ock still terrifies me to this day - I remember having to get my cousin to finish that last level for me. To me, the game ended at Carnage, lmao

This game honestly deserves the remake treatment. Though idk if the game on it's own is strong enough to stand on it's own in today's market so it'll be cool if they remade the second game Enter Electro as well and bundled the games together as a seamless story, or something.
I think one of the lead devs on this game even stated an interest on remaking the game so there's definitely interest, a shame Activision lost the Marvel license though, feel like that might be a massive roadblock unless Marvel partners with Activison again.

P.S. This is the GOAT when it comes to Venom voice acting. Everytime I read comics and a Venom speech bubble comes up. I hear this Venom voice.
Also had this on the Sega Dreamcast so better Graphics than PS1. But when Sega went out of business and I had to get PlayStation 2 I got this game for the PlayStation 1 because backwards compatibility so no kicking dirt on the PlayStation one version both versions are good.

Thiis game makes spider man be super cool. Spider Man in these days are too dramatic, a lot of epic songs and etc. This game have rock music, guitar, the spidey/peter voice is cool, he is funny... all these things bring the spirid of what Spider Man was in 90's. If Spider Man ps4 has more of these features, he could be perfect.

I played the Dreamcast version. This port was released a year later, and it fixed the more obnoxious parts of the gameplay. Every time I see someone playing the PS1 version, they run into quite a few problems in certain missions like the Venom race. The Dreamcast port fixes this.

this game was my childhood and only really finished it in my teens, and I still love it
funny finding out that you dont like carnages voice, to me its my favourite haha. To me it sounds completely lunatic, specially that laugh. That voice to me perfectly fits a crazed serial killer who not only wants to kill, but gut and chop people down to little itty bitty pieces while also having the time of his life like the true demented freak he is
also I dont think they forgot about spideys suit webs. This game also has a pc version and on it he has them and actual fingers. I think it had something to do with a level of detail that the ps1 couldnt process

That final boss got me stuck as a kid. After that first corridor, I didn't know where go. I thought it was a dead end! After a long while, I realized there was a vent and after that, it took a few more tries till I got it. Was surprised it was the final level.
It took me so many times to beat that level as a kid! I was shocked when I replayed this video, I beat it first time! Beaten in my head I guess haha

This game understands Venom so well. They can be big, intimidating, and make 3-year-old me scared silly, but at the end of the day they're 50 different flavors of dumbass, and I wouldn't have them any other way.

I have played many spidey games but this ps1 spiderman is something nostalgic and awesome👌 best Spiderman game of all time! And enter electro. Ps1 spidey games better than ps2 or ps3 even better than ps4... Or some ps5.

Spider-man dosen't have web on costume due to limitations of ps1 I think. Because pc version is better looking and his costume displays web. By the way enjoyed video, a lot keep up the good work.
