I mean, with the pixels, we don't remember seeing them as children because we thought it was top notch and we always thought the game looked just like the box art, and also because when computers record DS and 3DS games it isn't as high quality as it is if you were actually playing the game on the system.

The invisible box past the flag is to stop mario from walking past the texture of the caste so it looks like mario goes into the castle and stays in there. Since part of the castle is in the foreground and some is behind to make it look like mario walks into the castle, and instead of making mario stop walking after walking enough, they just put an invisible box to avoid having to code mario stopping.
this reminds me of my 4th birthday. got a ds with new super mario bros and that was my first own gaming console and my first own game and the first time i heard about mario. my brother had a copy too so we played together. Therefore, the rectangle is most likely there to stop Mario from falling off the level at the end.

I know why there is that invisible rectangle past the castle in the desert level; Mario is programmed to constantly walk after touching the flag pole, and would walk right thru the back wall of the castle if nothing stopped him, but with the invisible collision zone he stops. The game creators never intended you to figure this out but with glitches you did.

I was messing around in the game when I first got it and found this glitch. Here's how you do it: 1. Go to Level 3, World 2 2. Proceed through the stage normally until you reach the Piranha Plant next to two flippers. Fall through them. 3. If you jump at just the right position between the two flippers, Mario will get stuck. waluigi64325 i found out about challenge mode while i was going through a cheat code book back in 2010. never used it because i didnt want a bigger challenge than the actual game. i was bad at video games back then.
+Gungun Sarcar There really should be more that don't! Is it really that hard _not_ to? When I don't want to hear any cussing, there's only a couple of channels I go between because...step out of the little circle and suddenly they get thrown at your face.
There's actually a blue shell glitch you didn't cover. In any level with a lakitu steal the cloud and bring it to the ground. Using the blue shell run into it while spinning and you should be able to hit the cloud and get 2000 points (or 4000 I forget I don't have the game anymore), however the cloud will not disappear, and it is also locked in place and will not vanish over time. You can use it as normal but you can repeatedly hit the cloud with the blue shell infinitely gaining lots of points really fast. You can max out your score incredibly fast. I managed to get 3 lakitu clouds between the secret quicksand pillar and get my score skyrocketing 3x as fast. I would suggest when putting the clouds between any small gap you should put them in the center to maximize the hit time. Although sadly to do the 3 clouds you will need to hit the cloud with the blue shell a few times to carry it across the level and even when you get there you must let them float down low enough into the quicksand pillar and repeatedly press A so you don't sink while you spin inside. . It's not a hard trick to do so I'll hope you 'll give it a try :)

11:39 the invisible rectangle is actually for visuals... a VERY long time ago (when I was 7)I used cheats on my ds emulator and flew over the flag pole. I noticed that when I change the graphics size of Mario, he actually clips at the edge of the little castle. if Mario is normal size, he does not clip out, making it not look weird... that's the reason why there's an invisible box oh and the emulator that I mentioned isn't really an emulator... it's a game card with an SD card in it. I have 94 games on that single card. and you can insert cheats using Javascript (oh and yes, I did know how to use Javascript when I was 7)
Also the game uses the thing as an actually solid block, so when mario slides down the flagpole and walks towards the castle, he hits a solid block. Once he hits that solid block the game knows to end the level and have mario go of screen. There is a glitch to this tho which speed runners use to save 1 frame or something where you hit the flag and go to the wrong side of the pole, so when you walk over you hit a solid block and the game ends the level sooner.
Hey Space Chicken, I discovered a glitch. In world 3-A go to where the final star coin is, run at the water but just as Mario hits the water do a sharp turn Mario then will keep that sharp turn animation as long as you hold the button you made the sharp turn with. This glitch works with almost all power ups; however, it will not work as Mini Mario or Shell Mario. Sure it’s pointless but it’s something lol.

The invisible rectangle at 11:48 is when the flag pole animation is done he disappears when he hits the right side of the door and then where you would normally see him as he would keep going at the rate he was going when he jumped off the flag pole, the invisible rectangle triggers the Mario head animation (when the lvl is supposed to end), and it didn’t do it when he jumped on because the flagpole wasn’t triggered so it wasn’t activated

I’m pretty sure the mega mushroom is stored in your inventory, because you jump into the black and pick it up at the same time, meaning the block update for the block you hit while picking the mushroom up discarded the mushroom update and only played the block update. I could be wrong though.
I tried out the World 4 Ghost House glitch and found something interesting. If you hit a brick from below, the block will shatter into fragments, but will remain tangible. However, if you ground-pound the bricks and hold the down button, they'll still shatter, but you will pass through them and they will remain untouchable. Try it for yourself if you can - a good place to do it is in the room between the first and second dial platforms.

this makes me nostalgic i watched this video when i was way younger cause i couldn't get past the second level in world 5 this video gives me so many memories of when i was younger .
There is a way to end that glitch in world 4 right before the castle level: this is going to be tricky, but your supposed to hit the red switch on the cieling that will make the outlined blocks turn bold that lead to the warp pipe. As you should guess, you have to enter it right before the screen warps you into the top of the level. The pipe leads you to a secret place where the glitch ends as you enter through the other warp pipe leading you to the flag pole completing the level.
*1:47* That reminds me of a glitch in SMM2 where if you grab a fire flower at the same time you enter a door and at the same time you get hit, everything will freeze, but this time, you can't control Mario at all, and if you fall in water, lava, or poison, the screen will just scroll while Mario is stuck in the lava/water/poison.
the most probable reason for the for the bandana disappearing is because the game doesn't load the bandana when Bowser Jr. gets hit back from under his shell is because the game thinks that when he's in his shell, the bandana is not loaded. When he comes out his shell by being hit by a shell (irony), the game thinks that because he was under his shell, the bandana is non existent. If u dont get me, games dont load things just because they should be visible sometimes.

I’m pretty sure the mega mushroom is stored in your inventory, because you jump into the black and pick it up at the same time, meaning the block update for the block you hit while picking the mushroom up discarded the mushroom update and only played the block update. I could be wrong though.

I tried out the World 4 Ghost House glitch and found something interesting. If you hit a brick from below, the block will shatter into fragments, but will remain tangible. However, if you ground-pound the bricks and hold the down button, they'll still shatter, but you will pass through them and they will remain untouchable. Try it for yourself if you can - a good place to do it is in the room between the first and second dial platforms.

11:40 the reason that invisible rectangle is there is probably because Mario doesn't disappear when he goes into the castle, so that rectangle is probably so he doesn't come out the other side.

There is a way to end that glitch in world 4 right before the castle level: this is going to be tricky, but your supposed to hit the red switch on the cieling that will make the outlined blocks turn bold that lead to the warp pipe. As you should guess, you have to enter it right before the screen warps you into the top of the level. The pipe leads you to a secret place where the glitch ends as you enter through the other warp pipe leading you to the flag pole completing the level.
*1:47* That reminds me of a glitch in SMM2 where if you grab a fire flower at the same time you enter a door and at the same time you get hit, everything will freeze, but this time, you can't control Mario at all, and if you fall in water, lava, or poison, the screen will just scroll while Mario is stuck in the lava/water/poison.
the most probable reason for the for the bandana disappearing is because the game doesn't load the bandana when Bowser Jr. gets hit back from under his shell is because the game thinks that when he's in his shell, the bandana is not loaded. When he comes out his shell by being hit by a shell (irony), the game thinks that because he was under his shell, the bandana is non existent. If u dont get me, games dont load things just because they should be visible sometimes.
