Have to look into the Stylistics too. You are Everything, Break up to Make Up, I'm Stone in Love with You and You Make me Feel Brand New are some of my favorites.
I'm a music historian listening to music 60 years, this is one of the greatest songs ever! I highly suggest checking out the Delfonics from that time, known as Philly Soul. Also Barbara Mason, great song Are you Ready. Best success on yr channel
This Is Classic 60s Soul Doo Wop & R/B The Mighty Mighty Dells My Dude They Have Heat Twon The Legendary Unforgettable Stay In My Corner The Classic Heartbreakering The Love We Had Stays On My Mind And The Classics My Pretending Days Are Over,I Wish It Was Me You Loved & Give Your Baby A Standing Ovation
I've said this before. I grew up listening to this, big fan of doo wop, motown etc. So.. happy to see younger people discovering this music. OMG to the music of today!!!
Doo Wop. You can play that music forever. The progression from Doo Wop to Soul music was such a cool transition. Check out the Persuasions - Doo wop sound, but all acapella. I saw them in Minneapolis back in the '80's. They had just come back to the US from a tour in Israel. Within one song they had the audience in the palm of their hand. What a get area to take a deep dive into the music.
WOW WOW WOW !! Memories !! Always Loved this !! First time I heard this was 1969 when I was sitting in my squads "C" Company Hooch at 11th Motors in Viet Nam !! My friend had it Blasting on his big Reel to Reel tape machine set up !!
@Richard Rogers you brought up Vietnam and reel to reel, brought back memories of my Dad. First thing he bought was a reel to reel, when he came back to the states. I thought it was so fancy. It was 1969 too, he was stationed in Mississippi at that time. Thanks for bringing up a good memory. 💯👩🏼🦳
Great song! Love this Motown sound. One song I don’t understand why nobody has reacted to is “Hey There Lonely Girl” by Eddie Holman. Absolutely stunning song, so big…the notes he hits are incredible. Hope you are feeling better, Twon, good to see you back! Peace
I am so glad that this music came along when I was young and carefree. You would have loved to have been in high school listening to this on Dick Clark's Bandstand. Your face is so much fun to watch, you Get good music. Any music that you listen to from this Era is awesome
It doesn't matter who is the lead, do you hear that harmony, That's what they did!!! Harmonized. Real, natural singers. Any group from the 60's and 70's
I so appreciate my parents playing songs they grew up on DAILY in our house and on the 8track player in the cars. So grateful. This was one of my early songs I loved. Mind you I was born the year after this (1970).
I was in my last year in high school in 69. We slowed down through this record at all the dances. It was a big hit. I only saw them in person one time. I still love this song. I was filled with it I felt surely I would be happy here
@@rudolphbradshaw6124 yes it was. Then the Dells remade their own song. “To the old and to the new, we Re Dedicate this song to you” They made the same record twice.
They were one of many Groups who got their Start in the 1950's. In The Temptations Miniseries The Pre Temptations Group The Distants were on a Street Corner Singing. In those Days you practiced in The Bathroom for The Acoustics then you sang on A Street Corner under the Streetlight and the more popular you were the more of a crowd you got.
Great to see your expressions, Twon reacting to this majestic old school celebration of harmony! ❤️ Hope you're feeling better! This was beautiful. I see why you listen to Big Pete: he recommends great music!
Yeah. We saw them live in the late 70s at the Palmer house hotel Chicago. (with room) New Years eve.And Ohh what a night. Keep doing what you do young G!!!
Twon, First of all, I love your reaction with your beautiful facial expressions upon hearing great music from a long time ago! Now, from this same era you got to listen to this man who happens to be the son of a preacher man. His name is Jerry Lee Lewis and I'd recommend his rendition of "Great Balls of Fire".
If you want to hear Marvin Junior hang a note, you should hear Stay In My Corner!! They didn't call him the Iron Throat for nothing!!! Also check out Standing Ovation!! 😍
very cool man ! i had no idea that had re-recorded that song. i know the original. cool that you are willing to delve into some Doo Wop music. I'm afraid that music does not get much attention and not many new fans seem to be popping up. it's a shame. great stuff. great vocal arrangements and certianly played a huge part in the history of R&B/Rock n Roll. Maybe you will check out some more ? two days ago the fantastic Willie Winfield (lead singer of the Harptones) passed at 89. maybe you could check out some of their stuff 'the masquarade is over', 'the shrine of saint cecilia', sunday kind of love etc......
The Dells was one group that didn't have one name above all the others like Diana Ross and the Supremes. When they "rededicated" this song, it came out during the reign of the mighty Temptations, and I remember thinking that the Dells were comparatively old men but when THIS album came out?? I RAN to the store! I played it for years until a CD came out, and I bought it! I love Stay In My Corner
The Dells were one of the most successful groups of the '50's who were able to transcend time and score big hits in both the '60's and '70's. They had two lead singers - Marvin Junior (their main lead) inspired Teddy Pendergrass (and was famous for holding a note for an extremely long time) and their tenor Johnny Carter inspired the recently departed Skip Mahoney of The Casuals ("Wherever You Go" ruclips.net/video/BrLD9OPusoQ/видео.html). Please listen to their live performance which aired March 15, 1972 on the pre-PBS TV show "Soul!": ruclips.net/video/eREBH5dq6ko/видео.html as well as "Love Is Blue"/"I Can Sing A Rainbow": ruclips.net/video/I5eq0fjdesI/видео.html, "Let The Feeling Talk To You" ruclips.net/video/CDKMOWj0EwA/видео.html and their duet with The Dramatics on "Love Is Missing From Our Lives": ruclips.net/video/oYYZVG97VTM/видео.html.
I love the dells and by chance moving to nj. I became friends with the cousin of the lead singer mr chuck barksdale who we lost in 2019 i was shocked he met my hubby first and then he told us about his family and he looks just like chuck and plays a mean bass. . ..shout out to kevin barksdale me and hubby friend and new cousin thank u dna test .💗💯💯💯

As your liking this, i suggest you check out The Clovers and The Drifters (featuring Clyde McPhatter). For The Clovers, i suggest 'Heaven Or Angel' and for The Drifters i suggest 'Ruby Baby'.

That's the powerful Marvin Junior..man can SANG!!
Teddy Pendergrass said his mom would take him to see The Dells and he always admired and loved Marvin's voice....he even sounds like him.
@@irissanders7487 That's cool and yes they do have similar voices,
I seem to always want to cry when I hear these songs. it just reminds me of the days when I was most happy.
The Mighty Mighty Dells, The Greatest Group Of All Time. My favorite group of all time.
The Platters- Smoke gets in your eyes ❤
After this great reaction, I agree. This is a great old classic by The Platters. Do you remember the movie this song was in ? I can’t remember.
And “My Prayer” ☮️♥️🤘🏽

68 years old and I grew up being so fortunate to be able to hear all styles of music , late 50's 60's 70's just freakin beautiful!!!!
Yessssss🌹
Great reaction ❤️ GQ I Do Love You. I think you may like it too. Doo-wop
These songs made you feel. I feel nothing from today's music. This really hurts because I love music so much. It's been so diluted.
Have to look into the Stylistics too. You are Everything, Break up to Make Up, I'm Stone in Love with You and You Make me Feel Brand New are some of my favorites.

There’s Memphis, there’s Nashville, LA and New York but people do forget about Philadelphia. TSOP will not be ignored.

I was 14 and CRAZY about this guy I was hanging out with who used to sing along with this. BTW..1969 was a great year for music of every genre.
This is 1956. Two years before I was born. Great music we should never forget!
