Didn't King Ahaz of Judah meet in Damascus with the King of Assyria after 732 BC? 2 Kings 16. The city had obviously not ceased to be a city at that time. For that reason, I don't buy the theory that Isaiah 17 was fulfilled in 732 BC.
I love listening to Dr. Andy Woods, but not sure I agree with him on this point.

As you can see the biblical account has no record of Tiglath-Pileser attacking Damascus and the city becoming a heap of ruins. If the city of Damascus was in ruins after the destruction, how was King Ahaz still able to meet TIGLATH-PILESER IN A CITY that the Assyrians literally reduced to rubble?
I challenge anyone to ask Dr Woods this question after reading to him the biblical texts.
I have two ‘I wonder’s about Damascus. I understand Israel once briefly controlled Damascus, Syria. I also gather that the Dead Sea scroll called the Damascus Covenant referred to the Qumran area where the Essenes and faithful priests, largely elbowed out by the power hungry crowd in Jesus’ time lived. They made copies of the Scriptures and commentaries and tried to keep the faith in the baking hot desert down there. So this second religious Damascus was in Judah. So if Saul of Tarsus had authority from the Sanhedrin to arrest Christians and headed to Damascus, which one did he go to? Did the Sanhedrin at that time have any authority in Syria? My second I wonder is whether Damascus, Syria ever earned the title of ‘city of my joy’(Jer 49:25)? Maybe it is Jerusalem? Yet Ben-hadad is from Syria.

There is no way BIBLICALLY that the war in Zech 12:6 is the same as the one at Armageddon in Zech 14 :1-3 and in Rev 19. It also cannot be biblically the war in Ezekiel 38-39 because the Lord HIMSELF without the help of Israel defeats the armies in Ezekiel 38-39.

Still trying to find a good explanation on when the 7 year weapon burning could take place in Ezekiel 39. Could it really need to go into the Millennium?
I heard someone suggest that maybe it isn't Israel who does all the burning of the weapons. Maybe they're burned by gentiles.
Could it happen just before the "confirmed/forced" peace treaty? Then there would be 7 years until Christ's return to Mount of Olives. Just a thought.

It seems strange to hear nothing about Isaiah 11. v14 appears to speak to a post 1948 attack on the Gaza Strip. Notably the second part of the verse refers to troubles following in Jordan. Obadiah v19 seems to allude to that also.

@@bradmyers7109 I’m inclined to think of 11:11-14a as present ones and 14b as future. 14a says “And they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines to the west”. In the post 1948 context given by v11-12 that could be read “And they [Israelis]shall fly down upon the shoulder/extension [northern section] of the Gaza Strip”. They did go quite fast up in the north but have slowed down since. I gather a number of Israelis have expressed surprise that Israel started in the north as opposed to the border where the re-supply tunnels are.
My youngest son just joined the army and I worry that our country will make the horrible decision (would not surprise me at this point with this administration) and go against God and join with the enemies of Israel. Of course I will tell him that he answers to a higher power and he should refuse to fight against Israel.
It looks like a slight paralysis of one side of his mouth 😢
