Jaime running at dany full tilt reminded me of that conversation in season 1 with Robert, about their first kills. Robert talked about some kid who "thought he could end the rebellion with a single swing of his sword". And how he could've stayed on the sidelines with the other rich boys, and today, his sons would be ingrates, his wife would be driving him crazy and he'd be getting up three times a night to piss into a bowl- "WINEEE" 😂 Robert's quotes got so stuck in my head, jesus. "Caved in his breastplate, probably shattered every rib he had". I can hear him in my head. The way he talked was so good. Amazing character work by that actor. But yeah. Several Robert memories in this one.
24:30 Hobbs and Dev y’all should know. Maisie Williams aka Aryas actress did 90% of her own stunt in this scene. Not only that she is naturally right handed but in the books Arya is left handed so she learned how to do all her fighting stunts like this one with her non dominant hand. She’s as badass as her character.
When I watched the first episode, I said to my husband Daenerys and Jon Snow were the key to this. Somehow. My husband has passed away, so I missed him gloating over Jon's murder. Rather like I had done with Ned's death since he argued Ned would be on top. I lost my mind when Jon was killed. My husband has passed away, so I missed him gloating, which I would welcome. I didn't watch this for two seasons. A friend broke down and told me he didn't die, just to get me back to it.
Devin has guessed every single thing that has happened on this show. Either he’s seen it before or my dude is the smartest guy alive. 😂 Also, Gotta watch SNLs skits on Game of Thrones and the night show sketches. So good. 27:25 the “what?” You’re inquiring about is: Stannis used to correct Davos’ English all the time. Davos’ now speaking to a “bastard” of the north who’s English is worse off than his. It was a knee jerk reaction I’m sure he didn’t realize he even did. Stannis did it to Davos I think twice or three times in the show.
So pretty sure this episode still holds the record for most people set on fire as a stunt for film or TV. While some CG is used here a lot of the shots of people on fire is real stunt people, like 30 at a time they lit up. Tough stuff.
I know people love the Battle Of The Bastards one-shot with Jon, but the one in this episode with Bronn is my personal favorite in the entire show. I feel that last part is impossible to fully appreciate unless you've ever been to a knightly tournament yourself. But I especially live how it ties into the character. Whatever else Jamie might be, he's still a boy who grew up with the dreams of being a valiant knight, riding forth courageously to slay evil beasts. That moment of dragonslaying was what he was preparing for his whole life! 🦁🐴🛡️⚔️🐉❤
The thing that has always bothered me is how did Dany get Dothraki across the sea and land so fast to where Jaime was. She received the news about Olenna and the they attack in a couple of scenes. I understand suspending disbelief, but this show has always made a big deal of traveling and just how long it takes. And here they just said "meh, they are here now, don't worry about it".
