Thank you, that was clear and helpful. Also "I will smack your face off" certainly got my attention and made me laugh! Excellent way to ensure we remember!
I just started online Master's courses and turned in a paper that I thought was killer. Mind you, I have been out of school for a decade now...anyhow I found out I failed because I basically turned in a summary. I was supposed to write an analysis of an essay of a writer who was defending a previous book. I got it all wrong. This was quite helpful thank you!
This is very well organized and made. You are clear, specific, yet you don't belabor points. I struggle making screencasts because of misspeaking and you don't do this at all. I will use this with my class.
Thank you so much for this video, I have taking English 101 in college about 4 years ago ... And I totally forget how to formate analytical essay. Thank you for the refresher course ! I'm taking American literature now:)
A rhetorical analysis essay is a form of writing where the author looks at the topic in greater detail and prove his standpoint, using effective and persuasive methods. What about my experience, I know that your advices work! I used source nerdymates when I had writing difficulties so I know what I am talking about. Thank you, and keep doing your great work! Like!
*My friend advised* *essay.ya5.all-about.in*. I really hesitated because I had an awful experience previously with another company. *But these guys made me happy!* The result was graded as "A"
Hi, thank you very much for these videos. They help me have a better understanding of analytical essay. But now I am working on an analytical essay whose topic is "Discuss an issue of national or international importance and Its concern to you." I am a little confused at this topic. Analytical essay is all about objective, right? And you said in the video that I cannot use "I" in the essay. But this topic requires me to wrte about my concern to the inssue I choose. Could you please give me some advice when it comes to write an analytical essay like this one? I would really appriciate you help! Thank you!
This is very good and clears some questions i had about thesis statements but I was wondering if you have any ideas on writing thesis statements in research papers. Currently i have to write a research thesis on WWI poetry but i keep coming up with only Anallytical Thesis. Any ideas?
Beatmastapat09 What an interesting research topic. I suppose my question to you would be, "What are you setting out to prove (or communicate) in your research paper about WWI poetry?" Overall, a thesis is a clear statement that prepares your audience for what is to come. It helps the audience organize their thoughts in preparation for reading on. The purpose of a thesis statement is to state your intention, your claim, your purpose for communicating, in clear and detailed terms that you will them move on to prove with specific examples, supporting evidence and/or anecdotes.
Hi there! Awesome video. I am teaching thesis statement now. Is there any chance the prezi is available for use in my classroom without watching this video so that I could go through it with my kiddos on my own? Thank you
I am not sure about the place of thesis statement as advocated by this video. Personally, I'd put it in the middle of the introduction section or paragraph. My teachers seem to like it that way, saying my essays' really sharp and clear and everything! :)))
+ProfessorBoynton I use an online program called Screencast-O-Matic. You can download a free version to your computer and upload directly to RUclips once filmed.
Strong writing doesn't follow a formula. Instead, we need to ask ourselves what the purpose of our communication is. Ask yourself why we bother to write a thesis statement as a part of our lead paragraph. What function does it serve? Once you know that, you need to make sure that the thesis statement you create accomplishes that goal. At more elementary levels of writing, teachers give more formulaic approaches to writing in order to support students' organization. As your writing becomes more sophisticated, you begin to play with a variety of styles and formats to communicate your intended purpose. It all comes back to understanding what your purpose is. What is your reason for writing?
+Amanda Moorman Yes. This link will take you to my screencast on writing the conclusion for the analytical essay: ruclips.net/video/kYfXZIVTNro/видео.html I also have one on writing the introduction paragraph, and how to quote from a text in the body of the essay to support your claim. Let me know if you'd like those links too.
Analyze the claim that sport in the media is extremely unbalanced in regard to sex/gender and explore how the invisibility of female athletes in the media can be resolved. Thesis Statement anyone?
I really appreciate that you made this! You are a great (no-nonsense) teacher! You should teach teachers how to teach. Thank you!
This was so helpful. I have been struggling to write a thesis. I wish all teachers broke it down this way. Thank you so much!
Thank you, that was clear and helpful. Also "I will smack your face off" certainly got my attention and made me laugh! Excellent way to ensure we remember!
Wow, great very specific and to the point explanation. This helps me so much, you explain so well. Thank you.

Good video. You remembered me of that movie "The boy in a stripped pyjama" an educational touching movie and hard time to analyse it.

Hi there! Awesome video. I am teaching thesis statement now. Is there any chance the prezi is available for use in my classroom without watching this video so that I could go through it with my kiddos on my own? Thank you
This made my day!!
I am not sure about the place of thesis statement as advocated by this video. Personally, I'd put it in the middle of the introduction section or paragraph. My teachers seem to like it that way, saying my essays' really sharp and clear and everything! :)))

Great video!
I've been wanting to do screencasts like this, what app or program do you use for this?
Also, this is amazing! I'm a first-year teaching fellow and have been struggling with how to teach thesis statements to freshmen. Thank you!
+ProfessorBoynton I use an online program called Screencast-O-Matic. You can download a free version to your computer and upload directly to RUclips once filmed.
What app did you use for the presentation not the screencast.?
This presentation was created using Prezi. Others I have made using Keynote.
Thank you!
So helpful!
Can you tell me the "formula" of an analytical thesis statement? Thanks.

Can someone give me 5 good facts on this? Like helpful info from the video?
How is “careful development of complex characters” more clear than “revealing personal details”?
Do you have one for conclusions?
