i got this vibe too but there is a tier that allows you to "own" your own data by linking your own cloud resources from aws, gcp, etx
but once again its the cloud providers that own said data so yes you will own nothing and be happy
the "safe" way to use this, if any, is just to dedicate this to your professional development environment (which is the use case shown anyways) and not use this as an actual personal computer

I was reading around and found out that they are certified by iso which means they have to encrypt all data in some way and remove any decipherable association with the owner of the data before storing it. It is similar to how your Google drive or iCloud storage works. Just like no one else can see your iCloud photos without you giving them permission, no one can see your data stored by these people. This means even they can’t see your data.

You don't have to install Neverinstall. It is accessed from your browser. You can use any browser. We named it for a reason :)

This is not only marketed strangely, but isn't transparent about its general usecases. Not to mention the lack of brand identity, so I have no trust. Additionally, the idea of creating an account ONLY via Account Linking is extremely sketchy.

We agree, we could have done better Job in highlighting more usecases. But you see the AI can do many tasks - from programming, designing, writing emails for you. It has full system context. You can simply tell to open any app and do that task.
We now have a new brand identity, today we are posting about it. Also there will be a new page on the website about our brand.
About using your own email - we get this request a lot to be honest. What we have seen is by enabling own emails we got many free users who abuse our systems. We will definitely give this option once we implement security measures.

Yes there is free trial and then forever free plan with CloudLink. You can connect your own cloud and use it. Then there is premium plan which is $25 per month.

Glad you asked about privacy. Getting straight to the point - Cloud has evolved a lot in terms of privacy. Only you can access your details in your instance. These are encrypted private containers. Also the apps & operating systems you use in local machines do talk to cloud at some point. We have documented in detail about how all these work - neverinstall.com/privacy. We know that many users don't read these as it comes out very technical. That's why enabled AI doc support. Use cmd/cntrl+K to ask the AI how the privacy works and it will give you summary.
So I sit at a computer to operate a pretend computer 'out there'. I don't get it.
Its meant to give you access to a powerful computer for say data processing, and software development although this whole thing just screams sketch to me.
It lets you use a computer that’s way more powerful than your actual computer without actually having the powerful computer. Useful for, well, anything you need a powerful computer for. Though I’ve never heard of this company and I’d trust something with a bit more identity.
@@Valxire Yeah powerful cloud computers (with full desktops) already exist. The only differentiator here seems to be the gpt integration. I'm not sure how I feel about an AI having full access to whatever I'm doing lol. I guess we'll see where it goes
