In the documentary "who killed the ev car". there was no car like nissan leaf which shocked elon musk & gm ceo bob lutz on how did nissan brought a strong EV car in the market? he proved the world that nissan can build a cheap, afforadble, easy, fun, EV car. he brought back legends like R35 GTR, Z, Titan, megane, clio, zoe,
Actually that's the guy that killed cars like that and gave the nismo name to an suv when he was booted out the next guy decided to make the 400z.
This is the Japanese way treating the person who saved Nissan from bankruptcy. If you look back to Japanese history (especially the war time started with Oda Nobunaga), betrayal is deeply inside their bloodline.
Taiwan was occupied by the Japanese for 50 years, so the older Taiwanese, or those who know more about history, are familiar with the ways of the Japanese (not the J-pop, manga, tourism/commercialized stuff that the young people nowadays associate with Japanese culture). There is a long-time saying among the Taiwanese, roughly translated, it means " the Japanese are all polite on the surface, but can be selfish and ruthless beneath".
Very very true, whenever i go on a japan trip i will always destroy their buffet tables.
Carlos should help Lebanon Out of crisis and should play active role in the governments can use his talent of Lebanon Financial dilemma
Well said! But Carlos would have to face Israel's wrath if he tries to help Lebanon's government! Would you agree?
Came to see any comments on this ! He's more interested in Japan and France ?? With all of Lebanon and specifically Beirut's problems this is a really disappointing comment !
Not even god can help Lebanon at this point….
He barely escaped Japan and still hasn't completely settled all of his problems with Nissan. I doubt he whould want to put himself in a position were he'll have to deal with even more problems.
lol, you got kordahi instead
Forget what you think about Nissan or Carlos Goshen. This should be a cautionary warning to anyone considering going to live and work in a Japanese corporation in Japan. The fact is that the Japanese government and legal system are so easily corrupted to do the bidding of corporate infighting is appalling. If you're even considering going to work as a foreigner in Japan you really want to consider what has been done to this man. The protections we assume in most western counties, do not exist in Japan. If you offend the wrong person it can mean you life and freedom. It's a huge risk and if it goes wrong you're whole life is at steak.
How true!
Carlos, you almost hit the point why Japan being such a hardworking diligent nation makes mistakes like takata did or tepco did in Fukushima. The answer is the Japanese corporate bodies have been infected with corruption like nepotism, favoritism and incompetence.
Oh please do you think the country where he is from is any better? Lebanese immigrate everywhere around the world to escape their own country.
This one scandal does not eradicate that Japan has a well functioning society albeit imperfect. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, this pales to what happens in Lebanon.
@@livingfinance Japanese society doesn't work well, people are just so used to being abused that they already see it as something normal and anyone who tries to fix it is seen as a social enemy, they are basically slaves, all societies that favor a hierarchy will always be corrupt.
Yes, man ,exactly you said. I worked in Japan, Im totally resonated with you
@@livingfinance I'm talking about Japan not Lebanon. Don't compare Lebanon with Carlos Ghosn. Why would you discriminate a person based on his national original. ARE YOU SAYING IF HE WAS AN AMERICAN HE DESERVED BETTER TREATMENT!
Japan was once number 1 economically. Now their GDP is barely number 3 and per capita is struggling at number 7. Who do you want to blame for this, china or india?
The answer is "traditional japanese corporate orgs practically worship americans even today". Whereas chinese and indians do not usually do that.
Dam good points he has about Japanese justice when he compares how Japanese and foreigners are treated in Japanese justice system.
Charming and charismatic. You don’t get to the top without these two. Even as a fugitive, people are still charmed by him.

I am an Iranian resident in Japan for 27 years. I suffered severe injuries in a car accident, resulting in a permanent disability in my left leg. The incident occurred when I fell into an unseen deep pothole at a parking lot entrance, breaking my back. Sadly, the parking company, which is affiliated with the largest construction company in Japan and also operates in the US, has been prolonging the inhumane court proceedings for the past 5 years. It is difficult to believe. I have to take 13 strong painkillers daily due to the constant pain. In the first court, three judges rejected the opinions of three doctors and the medical tests. In the second court, four judges also dismissed them and described the difference in temperature of my left foot (a maximum of 7 degrees Fahrenheit) as insignificant. The inhumane ruling has destroyed my life and my family's. Please help me bring this construction company to trial in the United States : ( Alien Tort Claims Act )
All foreigners should know that in order to live in Japan, they must study more. This is my personal opinion.
He should be the president of Lebanon
Yeah he should! Lebanon needs one more corrupt politician
If you arrested by Japanese police. No matter what 99% go to jail...😱😱😱
Technically correct but missing a few nuances.
1) if you are charged no matter what ~99.4% go to jail.
2) also ignores the fact that Japanese prosecutors only charge slam dunks, declining to lay charges in nearly half of all cases. Yes conviction in say the us is around 70%, if the us followed the Japanese way the 30% of cases that are found innocent in court just wouldn't go to court in the first place.

The West has a corrupt justice system? Compared to what? Russia, where political opponents are assassinated? Japan, where they have a more than 99% conviction rate and if it's your word against a respected public official you're hooped? Japan is a culture that still needs to grow up. Regionally, Japan does not have political allies and therefore the American military is able to ally with Japan in order to have a presence in North-East Asia. Japan's population is still 99%+ born and raised in Japan and immigrants are few and far in between. Japan, in its own way, is a prosperous bee hive. In terms of recognizing and understanding multi-culturalism or individualism, Japan isn't there. I think Japan is a unique society, but will not raise my kids in Japan.

Ghosn was useful to Nissan because he was a gaijin that could come in and cut off dead limbs in a practical way that Japanese bosses cannot do. They needed an outsider to make the difficult changes that were necessary. No Japanese could do it because if they did it and failed they would be outcast, a fate worse than death in Japan. But he was also useful in that a gaijin is easily ejected and easily set up for betrayal in Japan. Look at Olympus and mitsubishi morgan stanley, the same pattern happens. Bring in the foreigner, let them take the heat, then throw them out. (They say Ghosn "escaped" but he was practically handed a key to get out because the government wanted this stinking mess of a scandal stopped) And Japan gets to recoup a fair share of their money back. All his Japan bank assets would have been frozen before he was even arrested. I can only wonder how much money he has lost.
He was in jail because he was a gaijin. Make no mistake. Can you imagine any free country where a company director can call up the police and tell them to go arrest the CEO because they have broken the law and the police go and do it without having any evidence? If you do know, please tell me, I am dying to know why the west isn't disgusted with this racist behavior. Police arrest him, on the word of the Japanese guy, but the police never try him in court because they don't have any evidence, so they keep him in jail and try to get a confession, which he won't give. Please tell me of another supposedly free country where that can happen? I am a lawyer and I've lived in Japan for 25 years.

I respect this man as an amazing business man but from experience as a mechanic Nissan product quality has been crap ever since you took leadership. You lead amazing projects that saved the company by making their products sell but ultimately the Old Nissan you were talking about does not want Nissan to be associated with making Renault level quality in their affordable cars. Nissan in the past has always been about making high quality and affordable cars that competed and are on par with their competitors Toyota and Honda. Nissan was an alternative not a budget car company like Mitsubishi or Renault that you had Nissan forge an alliance with.
It's beyond comprehension how the US has an extradition treaty with Japan.
It's amazing to see how in Japan, being a foreigner, you are only worth what they want you to be. Even when it was discovered that this was a conspiracy by those in Nissan who was at the top, as executives, selling out the company for personal profit. So; just tell lies on the foreigner who saved the company from bankruptcy to get themselves to look good. They had a lawyer who found out the truth, he too was removed to cover-up their crimes.
What is even more sad is, America has sent an American to face charged for getting this man out, makes one wonder about this country and it's leaders.
And when we hear about a global occultic NWO it's immediately labelled conspiracy theory, yet they keep perpetrating these illegal and downright absurdies in full public view without question. And still yet have the nerve to point fingers at others like Putin in Russia....

@@OptLab there is still rampant xenophobia. Let’s take off the rose coloured glasses and accept that
Good luck 😂
There so much iceberg beyond this.
I have a fondness for studying the language. I also have learned about some social issues that tread on my optimism. Such as how the justice system is framed as coercive and incriminating rather than just. Or how the legal system enables strange legal holes in the rights of young people. For example there is a catch 22 where there is a two year window in young adulthood where orphans(?) are left to be homeless. Parents may not wave away their parental rights. As such, the 'orphaned' youth need a parents consent to rent until they are 21. Orphanages may also lack obligations to be responsible for them after 18 years of age. Then the case of in-family kidnappings and a lack of costudy enforcement because 'children are property in the eyes of the law' while child custody is a family matter.
Learning about Honnemae/tatemae and uchi/soto also fosters conflicting feelings about living there. These social concepts seem like they enable pleanty of room for disastrous misunderstandings. For example I learned about about how somethings don't really mean what they would in a direct sense. A light example is how we should refuse offers. Serious examples would be, how not everyone is fully aware of some Uniquely Japanese social dynamics nor is everyone the most aware in occasionally serious social considerations, like stricter respect for unique hiarchies and etiquette. In these instances the uninitiated may figuratively 'step on toes' that should not be stepped on. I suppose learning about and becoming less ignorant is a solution, but I fear maybe it could be severly anxiety inducing to always be on alert or on awareness.
Have you ever been in Japanese school or Resturant? Do you know how they train a Japanese chef? Go look it up.
Best Wishes to Mr. CARLOS G.!

Greetings from Japan, I called on prosecutorial reform and defended him on twitter when he was arrested. But there are some points I feel critical about him. 1) He briefly mentioned human rights lawyers in Japan fighting to curtail prosecutor's power both while investigating (police is usually not involved in investigating a big white-collar crime so prosecutors do the investigating as well) and in court. Well, he abandoned them and illegally escaped! The lawyers won for him, and the judge granted him, bail several times, which was unusual and ground breaking. I hope this progress does not regress, and our courts invest in monitoring systems so that a bailed white collar suspect does not escape. 2)And now he is yapping from abroad. Of-course he is free to do so, but the yapping does not change the problem of a country of 120 million. Who he thinks he is? His words do not have magical power to change a power structure. 3) He brought with him at the end of the 90s the greedy culture of ultra-high salary for company executives. In 2000s the salary for executives have gone up by roughly 10-20 times. Has he or any company executives been millions of times more productive than a worker? Obviously not. He made cracks in the egalitarian company culture of Japan, which I resent. 4)I take from this interview and his past that he has had "I will teach you this because your way is wrong" attitude against Japan, disguised underneath his cordial manner. This kind of high horse mentality is bound to fail anywhere, and I think he was bound to fail in someway eventually, even if this *injustice* did not happen to him.
Seriously, how much does Japan pay you to yap this type of craps?
Ever since Abe and Suga get cozy with China and Vietnam, I notice Japan now having its own web brigades to defend whatever Japan is doing. This is utterly pathetic.
Officials working with a United Nations human rights group said Monday that former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn should receive both “compensation” and “other reparations” from the Japanese government for its handling of his November 2018 arrest and subsequent detention. Even the UN knows how badly treated he was -Japan should hang its head in shame!! Interesting to see Abe is now being questioned for his money 💰 scandals let’s see what happens to him!
@@user-wx9ky9lr1y you act as if all Japanese should be responsible for this guy clearly also not innocent. Why should Japanese care about this loser?
@@GI876758 "loser" jhhhhhhh
@Mr. Hater He was GRANTED BAIL and ILLEGALLY ESCAPED, you idiot.
He might have made Nissan cars unreliable and junky but atleast he saved the company.
It was a sacrafice in order to bring the Z and GTR, also to keep the Nissan Patrol in service in Eastern Europe.
What is Japanese point of view. Do they treat rich and influential the same way as poor people.. what is the charge?
Basically there's a belief that the Japanese are very racist and hate foreigners. Carlos was seen as a celebrity hero after bringing nissan back from the brink of bankruptcy. This made the Japanese people who work in the auto industry really angry since it implied that the Japanese aren't fit to run a auto company and have to rely on foreigners to bail them out. There's also the 99% conviction rate in Japan which means that even if you're innocent you're still guilty. The fact that he's a foreigner and the 99% conviction rate shows that he will serve years in jail and not have a fair trial. But to answer your question, if you're suspected of guilt then you're guilty no matter your social status or wealth.
@@fearlesswindows interesting so on their turf, their own rules, sounds like universal.
@@fearlesswindows yea i mean...have you seen any large Japanese company that is acquired and turned subsidiary to other foreign MNCs? Nil. It will be a huge humiliation to them. WWII 2.0.
Carlos , Come back to Nissan Japan
Isn't Tesla making a full package, vertical integration business model? So where is the globalization of the supply chain there? If anything, Elon explained that you need to do it all in house.
Jesus is that Elizabeth Holmes sister? 😂
This guy is a master con man
the great escape 🤣
Japan shouldn’t be worried because unfortunately being and living in Lebanon is a punishment itself 😁
I don’t know about that - he looks comfortable and good state of mind
Nissan went totally downhill after he became CEO. The quality dropped significantly.
And the profits went high go figure
He might not be guilty of the original charges, but he is certainly guilty for planning and carrying out the escape.
This remind me the movie forgot the name where dude stuck in China or Japan set up doctor Jones 🤣

My legend 💪
The Japanese ,they, them are who?
Why is she being so nice to this crook? He committed fraud in his company, led it astray, and is a run away from authorities.
Because he has hundreds of millions in the bank
No
Only in Lebanon! A criminal would appear on TV.
