You need to see the live video for this song with her in a pink catsuit banging a tambourine!

In my head, To Bring You My Love was always the ‘Polly dating Nick Cave’ album, although you have probably chosen the least Nick Cave sounding song from that record. But I’m happy to accept that I may have the dates completely wrong and the Nick Cave sonic influence may have more to do with the fact Mick Harvey was involved.
To Bring You My Love came out in early 95 and Polly and Nick Cave are supposed to have kissed for the first time on camera while filming the video for Henry Lee (though that may be an apocryphal story). Henry Lee didn’t come out until early 96, although I suppose it could have been recorded and the video shot months earlier.
Either way, it might be interesting to look at something from Nick Cave’s The Boatman’s Call before doing something from Is This Desire as allegedly much of it is supposed to be about Polly Harvey. Certainly West Country Girl, Black Hair and possibly Green Eyes are interpreted as being about her.
Nick Cave has used a line that he was so surprised when she dumped him that he nearly dropped his syringe.

Thanks for your comments. It is cool there's work from each of them that reflects their time together.
We will dive into Mr Cave's work at some point. I have to figure out which works are unknown to Andy. I know he's not familiar with the last 3 albums.
      Cheers, Jon.

This is easily in my top two or three albums of the 90's. I really love "C"mon Billy" (I requested that for Into the Music" and "Send His Love to Me"

And it's not often that I see someone play a guitar with a knife. ruclips.net/video/CE90HQDQYpw/видео.html

I enjoy the album and the reaction. Iwas wondering if andy would give an odd look about the title. The guitar used to give me a bit of my bloody valentine vibes.

Perhaps a duet with Mr Yorke coming?

I immediately wondered if the snake was black, and I was right (great song that).
    Damfine album.
In other political news, Kim Wilde today declared her support for Count Binface. (There was an interesting Q&A with him in The Guardian last week.)

I didn't enjoy this one. I lost track of PJ Harvey after the first couple of records, so was unfamiliar with this. Unfortunately I think the aggressive, but to me banal, rock style and processing of the vocal stripped PJ of what made her unique. I know she didn't stay with this style, so I'll look forward to what comes next.

Fair enough. I can't agree with you on this - clearly, as I chose it! But PJ's career is packed with so much quality that there's something for pretty much everyone to enjoy. That doesn't mean everyone will enjoy everything. More to come!
      Cheers, Jon.

@@theaudiophiles7889I listened to it again with a bit more attention and enjoyed it more, there was a vicious scraping noise, either guitar or a Hammond being abused in there which I liked. Ultimately though it is just a gender reversal of Led Zeppelin blues rock. Led Zeppelin are of limited appeal to me outside of a few numbers like Kashmir or Immigrant Song.
