***** Ugh I hope not. Why not make maelstrom in the norway area of Epcot frozen themed? Bottom line is if they want to do anything to the yeti, it is going to require some serious maintenance. They would have to deconstruct the ride to get the yeti out and fix its cracked foundation. Millions of dollar and probably a couple years of down time on the only real E ticket ride in animal kingdom. Once Pandora opens, they might close it down to fix it since people will be busy with pandora.
i'm glad i got to see the yeti move before it broke... honestly the way it moved was terrifying. it really looked and sounded alive and the way the fake fur blew all over the place was just... omg... i hope they get it working again some day :)
Yes but it only operated in A mode for much less time, I don't know exactly how long. But once they discovered the eminent structure failures, they dialed back the motion to B mode, which still moved but not nearly as much or as fast. Then in 2008 they determined they had to stop it entirely
3DprintedLife your a bit wrong with the modes it did start in A mode but with support issues it was changed to A- mode to make the ride NOT collapse on people and now it's on B mode with flashing lights and fans
They put so much work into this yeti. Hes so incredible i always come back to watch this video because of how much it entices me. Its really too bad he cant perform to his true potential anymore. I hope one day theyll be able to find out how to put him back into A mode.
I mean the thing is there is nothing wrong with the yeti itself its his base. They made a mistake in the software for the ride calculations so a part of the cement base didn't cure properly so now its compromised and unsafe to operate in A Mode. They can fix it however it'll take a lot of money and about a year maybe more of downtime for one of the few rides in Animal Kingdom since they would have to take apart the mountain and the show building itself. A lot of people want the yeti back in action but from a business standpoint I can understand why Disney wont put the money into it since its only about 3-4 seconds of the ride. BUT I WANT TO SEE IT IN A MODE SOOOOOOO BAD!!!
BigFatPanda sadly in order to fix it, they would have to destroy the entire building to fix it, and that costs about a million dollars or so to do, so I highly doubt they'll be fixing it anytime soon.

This makes me sad that I never got to ride this while the Yeti was in A mode. This looks so impressive and on the ride itself, I thought the Yeti looked good but not massively scary. This would have freaked me out BIG TIME. X]
I found this video again after so many years! I remember watching this very show on TV when I was around 11 or so, and that was one of the defining moments that made me fall in love with animatronics and theme parks. I went to disney in 09 and faced the yeti face to face finally, but even by then he was already in his disco mode. I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to see this beast in all it's glory swinging down at you as you zoom past, I bet it was amazing to experience.
The Yeti issue lies in the foundation of the ride itself. There is no quick fix for the Yeti. We were one of the first people to ride it and it was spectacular! We rode it in the first 2 weeks of opening and even got to give Disney our input. So long frightful Yeti :(
We can only hope that once Avatar Land is done, it will become a such big hit and draw so many people that they'll be able to close Expedition Everest for a while and fix it.
I had totally forgotten that I used to ride EE with my eyes shut for a reason. LOL. All the time, efforts and talent of the developers have been sitting idle for how long now? If Disney can allocate hundreds of thousands to expanding stores and moving walkways around I think they certainly could put to work a small crew designed to fixing the base issues of the yeti. Scare me again!
Not sure if you realized, but that yeti is huge, weighs a whole bunch and costs a lot of money. To fix it they would have to take down part of the mountain, remove the yeti, ship it to California, fix it, ship it back to Florida put it in the mountain and then fix the mountain. Seems simple, but its going to take a REALLY long time, and cost more money that the whole ride itself.
That is not true at all. Okay here we go, long story short they had used the Yeti for a little bit of time but it’s foundation started to crack and things like that so now they have it in B mode or “disco yeti” and in order to fix it they would have to tear down part of the ride (or otherwise close down the ride for a large period of time) to fix the yeti. Not to mention it would cost A LOT of money. Although I am pretty sure they are going to fix it soon. (Not sure tho) okay bai ❤️
@@bunbunzyyt9308 Yes. It being that big, moving that fast, was too much for the structural integrity of the mountain and caused damage by being run. If they were to run the yeti it would cause more damage. So to say the yeti was made too large and too powerful would be correct.
@@NeelTheSphynxit wasn’t made too large or too powerful. If the foundation’s concrete had settled it would be fine, but there was an issue that meant they started the operation of the Yeti before the foundation was all set
not necessarily, that's just the easiest way of doing it. Given the location of the yeti itself it could be possible that they could go in through the side and create a lot of temporary supports, which is feasible. But it's as others say they won't because one of the biggest problems that they have is they don't have enough "popular" rides to keep people coming to the park. Sad thing a lot of AK's attendance is for Expedition everest. The need new rides before they can fix it.
And here we are 8 years later. Yours was my hope too. We do now have a couple pretty good rides that certainly draw in a large percentage of the crowd away from Everest and into Avatar Pandora world. Not to mention the entire year that the parks were closed in 2020, which would should have given them a lot of time to fix the yeti. Yet, the yeti remains lifeless to this day. I can't even possibly imagine a better scenario to fix the yeti than when the whole park is shut down. Because of that, I am most certain that the yeti will never be fixed and actually move. Especially now since Cheap Ass Chapek took over. Joe Rhode promissed to fix the yeti, but even he can't manage to get the project up off the ground. At this point I would be shocked if they actually did shut the ride down to fix it.
A major problem is the ride is built like a lego structure, to take apart the middle part they need to take apart a vast majority of the ride. They would have to dismantle the ride to fix the yeit.
BDNeon well it used to move like that, until a part of the machinery broke (as you may or may not have known.) To fix it they would have to take part (or even the whole) mountain down, ship it to California, take it apart, fix it, ship it back to Florida, put it back in the mountain and fix it again. Which could take anywhere from a year to two years looking at how long it took them to build the ride in the first place. It would cost WAY more than the original mountain did and they'd waste more money fixing it and people wanting to wait till its open, than having the arm not move with some flashing lights. (Which lasts about 5 seconds) and you barely even see it because you're moving so fast. And plus, you gotta remember how much money they spend on electricity, running everything, park maintenance, paying cast members etc. So +TheInflicted definitely has a point.
emaimina WRONG. Nothing ever broke, it was causing to much stress on the thing that moved the yeti. SO they shut it down before it would have a catastrophic breakdown.
+Nothing wrong. The FOUNDATION that holds the yeti was cracked from stress. The concrete didn't cure properly before they built the mountain around it. Check sources on Google
